why?
Your in a tristan and you dont have the uber skill to turn it into an uber tristan..
so why are you going there?

It's the exact same things as what Zombie did, you may not attack in "safe-areas" (empire/within sentry range) without loosing your ship.

I made my first and only alt the other day to go sightseeing in 0,0 (I do believe in using only one character though)
Anyway, in there I went in my Velator, past PF-346 (that's the name?) quite easily since it was just after downtime and almost noone was there.
I managed to get about 5 jumps more before I was ruthlessily podded at a gate!
I guess they don't like tourists

Excellent spirit meowcat, good luck.
Dont get intimidated by some of the alliances just warp straight passed them. Come over to CFS space (Querious Region) for a friendly experiance, the peace is only sometimes disrupted by CA but there not too bad.

Use your map wisely, make sure your clone covers your skillpoints, your ship is insured and don't get caught ;-) You shouldn't try to kill NPC rats in belts with a frig either...
hm, thats about it. Being friendly when hailed in local can help too.
However, most 0.0 space is allliance claimed and intruders aren't too welcome there, least if they still are in newb corps.
Have fun, though ;)

Go for it, meowcat. Perhaps you can even impress a few jaded alliance members, and then you'll have access to 0.0 for good. ------------------------------------------- "My main griveance with the Caldari state was that once I had finished my work for them, they wanted me dead."

and then people whine about carebears not coming to 0.0 , go through the wrong gate and you're crab meat ;(... but hey! we could fight back. 5 bss and a couple frig/cruisers waiting right behind a gate, with target and firing range of 100kms+. hehey! nps
anyway, just finished mwd skill. so for the sake of exploration i'm willing to risk my clone. if you're up for it meowcat convo me ingame. got a few locations i've wanted to see for a long time but never been able to find any company.

Right...
I sometimes forget that people actually want to explore this game...i did my fair bit of that myself way back when...
anyways, good luck, try not to travel through podding zones and youl get alot further :)

You might want to relocate your clone ....if you want to come back to 0.0 in a speedy manner.
I forgot and travelled 36 jumps , got podded and then ended up 36 jumps away again.
However this is a good way to get home quick...I would rather die than travel 36 jumps.....
We depends on your skills and clones....sometimes you loose skills other times not ...
But have fun , and dont be too disappointed when you realise its nothing special.....

there is bases, but they are mainly owned by pirate corps understand. so docking is possible, otherwise running from i.e planet to planet may get the rats/alliance dudes to drop their search for you.

Well along with hunting and mining there some trade routes that are worth it, you can buy some named mods and run them back into empire to sell, you can do agent missions in 0.0 (not but different to empire ones tbh), and you can run misslies and ammo out to 0.0 stations and sell at twice the price.
Plently for a n00b in a frig.
(although it's not always a good idea to be posting while autopiloting through 0.0 )

Check the map for stations - you can dock in any station. Also be sure to check what services in each station, if you need something in particular (like repairs, after you run a blockade...).
All alliances in 0.0 are based around non-conquerable stations (although they do fight over the conquerable ones as well), so it's probably a lot safer for you to explore systems that don't have stations.
Be vary of choke points and dead ends. ------------------------------------------- "My main griveance with the Caldari state was that once I had finished my work for them, they wanted me dead."

Edited by: Valentine Keen on 30/04/2004 14:24:12 Edit: Beaten to it, but nevermind.
Certain 0.0 regions are home to stations belonging to the npc pirate factions theoretically based there.
For example in Venal or Stain.
There are therefore stations around that the player alliances base out of and protect the other 0.0 regions accessed via those routes. (There are few region to region gates, these are your chokepoint for combat.)
You should be able to look them up on your in-game map.
No, I've never been out there yet - but some day, when I can afford it, I'm gonna, whether by joining a corp or playing tourist, I want to see the other bits of the game I've not explored yet.

*applauds for meowcat* Right on babe! (dude?)
When i was a youngun myself 8 or 9 months ago I took a few spins out into 0.0 space. Once as part of my old corps relocation project... and many subsequent times solo.
Probably the most fun I ever had in EVE was back durring what I like the call, the WY-911 incedent. Our corp decided it would be a good place to relocate so we could expand in peice and grow in strength. Back then only maybe 2% of the game had even seen a cruiser let alone flew one... and I was happy as a pig in crap with my Atron and a pair of medium lasers (think they did like 4x dam mod or something back then, heheh and that was before I realissed hybrids would have been better on an atron heheh).
We escorted out hauling ships (frigates in those days, as indies where just starting to be more common as player ships). Along the way some joken in a Velator opened fire on my wingmate... We blasted him to kingdom come in about .2 seconds, and I managed to pod him for being ignorant and someone else managed to nab his biomass before we all jumped...
I mean come on... 12 frigs buzz past your velator, 6 of them obviously rigged for stomping butt, all of them with the same corp logo... You do the math... was he bright for firing at us? LOL
Anyway We finaly get to WY-911, and begin setting up, we decide that as part of our victory celebration we would mine a bit of higher end ore. I along with another wingmate of mine sat in the belts keeping guard popping rat after rat. Ahh what fun... At one point everythought I was a gonner when my poor little atron squared off against 4 4K serpentis Pirates... I managed to blast em all without losing more than half my armor by the time they noticed I was outgunned. We all got a good laugh from that.
I had to log for a bit, and when i came back mining ops where done and I was all alone... I found out the spawns seemed tougher now... but it might have just been that I was all alone... After a minute or two I saw something that sent a chill up my spine:
"Serpentis soldier" (or maybe it was guard I can't recall.
I checked the info, and it was a tristan! I locked the target, and marvelled at the glowing yellow ball flying my way, when I realized what it was... MY shields flickered as they went offline and oohed and ahhed at the sound of the explosion from the missiles detonation. I hauled ass back to the station before I could get hit again, I had barely even made a dent in the things shields...
I waited a minute and undocked again... only to be greated by 4 of the same NPC! I remembered thinking "Thats odd, I never Saw a belt rat follow a player before!" I warped to a planet to get my bearings thinking I was safe, when those four nasties warped in behind me.
I ran back to base with my tail between my legs and reported to my CEO that the NPc's where chasing me, and that WY-911 might not be suitable any more for us. The next day we spent two hours fending off the NPC attacks trying to buy time for our haulers to get all the stuff out of the constellation... We found out too late that Serpentis prime was only 3 jumps away... And thus we had invaded pirate territory. OOPS!
So word to the wise: Although you will have a blast, Make sure you check the map before you go exploring, and make sure you don't wander into enemy territory where the NPC's behave like an EVIL concord and follow you around till you die.
As far as a tristan goes, I have once or twice chosen to fly a tristan instead of my cruiser into 0.0... One thing you will NOT want to do, is engage in combat with just about ANYTHING in there... thats just asking for a pod sandwich. Maybe if you have like 10 buddies with you you could take on one of the spawns there and lose maybe 5 of your group... But I wouldn't reccomend it.
Oh and if you get out to the sisters of EVE systems, tell em I said hi :)
And if you get to serpentis prime, launch a missile at one of those guards for me before you leave, just don't get yourself killed :)

I think I made about 60 jumps during my 2:nd day in EVE (hadn't played beta). I just went around, exploring ang getting myself familiar with the game.
To wait with going into unsecure space until you have a battleship and a head filled with expensive implants is THE WORST THING YOU CAN DO IN THE GAME. While that will make you earn money faster in the beginning, you'll loose huge ammounts of experience by doing so, and in the long run that will cost you hundreds of million isk.
Best advice to give new players is to get outside of safeplace as fast as possible and gain as much experience as possible, while you still fly a cheap frigate and it doesn't cost you millions to die.

Bring Basic Cargoholds, and Large Ammo you will become rich. Do missions in your frigate and you get supplies to sell at the station. You will have millions before you know it.
Learn how to use the map. Be on Local chat. Look and talk to people in local chat.
This is what all noobs should do. Come out here and make a living. You stay in empire space and become a number or move out to 0.0 and become rich. This is the California Gold Rush. --------------------------

right on :) Couldn't agree more on 99% of what you say. Waiting till your an UBER carebear with a battleship will just be a waste of time, and when you do go out there you will die just as fast as you would have in a newb ship if you run into the wrong crowd... So don't be a coward... It's just a game, and a death or lost ship early on, is a life saved when your no longer a newb.

Edited by: Danton Marcellus on 30/04/2004 15:34:00 Make instajump bookmarks out to 0.0 alliance space then return with an industrial loaded with modules and sell at jacked up prices, especially containers are in demand.
The industrial and modules fitted are then best repackaged and sold along the cargo for a shuttleride home.
My free advice to you.
Good luck and may you bypass all blockades.

try to go out there as soon after downtime as you can Meow, or you run the risk of being insta-ganked the second you enter the first 0.0 system.
Despite all the whines of "pirates" who constantly go on and on about there not being enough people in 0.0 space, they refuse to stop camping the entry gates with 7-12 battleships.
