Its true, if we keep pouring crap into the air the really brainy sCience dudes say the measurements taken will give us 10 years before we reach a point where we cant reverse the damage we have done and we are all .......
To back this up in a numbing way the green mps in the uk who were very anti nuclear power are now all for it , " so what if 20000000 people die in an accident, at least the rest will live, along with the planet".
Its quite worrying how blinded the US is to the damage they do but the constant advertising one gets over there does a good job of putting blinkers on them. The uk is almost as bad but the govement is going nuts trying to work out how to sort this (note the fast removal of Bush as he tries to fight the whole UN on pollution, with crap comments like "china produuced more" when actually for every one us person u can have 10 chinease do the same damge.
If u look at the world as a large goldfish bowl ull see that u me, folks in 3rd world, us aussie everywhere, everything is inside this bowl and the lid is fully on it wont take long if we all smoke for it to be unbreathable,
but most people dont give a *** till its too late
It isnt right now so have a little think about ur life and ways to make stuff better, like not living out of junk food and wrappers or maybe turning eve of and giving me all ur stuff so u save the plannet... :)
well just thought u should know cos its reel,
really really,
Its hard for me to accept that when my childhood came from all the great vibes rock n roll n free living gave out, to sit here and go actually we need to do this this this and this, and be responsable but if we dont we truely will all be facing a much more harsh world.

I plan on making my own small fishbowl inside the main one on an island somewhere, and invite others to come and turn it into an isolated town independant of the rest of worlds biosphere.
I am runing experiments on hydroponics and off of grid power supplies, I hope to build a windmill to put on my roof to figure out a realisic power load for the system.
Thats my plan - whats yours?

Edited by: Amastat on 15/05/2008 17:02:31 I'm not fearful of a apocalyptic event - but in the case something like that happens, I'm just going to laugh my ass off and point at the ignorants and say: THE MOST EPIC FAILURES!!!! You all literally FAILED AT LIFE - EPICCC! >.<
This would make the history books (or whats left of them). This is the kind of thing that makes Shrikes Avatar loss seem very smart. Literally, the incapability of survival - literal failure at life.
It would be the most stupid thing ever done in the history of mankind, and it would be done by millions and millions of people, making it history's largest gathering of stupid people to commit the greatest act of stupidity world society has ever witnessed.
If that is not a EPIC FAILURE, I don't know what is. ____________________

Few places I am looking at, the Outer Heberdies, Isle of Lewis. I like the idea of Ascention island to be honest, near the equator so reliable sunlight for either solar panels (which I personaly deteste for its inefficiency in atmosphere) or for something I am doodling at the moment. Its a modification of the convection based wind tower, cover an area with transparent plastic and mount a generator at the top and base, as air expands air is sucked in and discharged at the top to create montion. I hope to see how far I can get with water vapor by building it on a rig, hoping for a meter high model to test the theory.
I'm doing Higher Physics next week for me exams, so if its something taught as a failure in university physics.... well I plead ignorance
Basicly, while politicians make it seem that biofuels are better for the enviroment (epic fail as we know now - 3 times worse due to how its produced ) and China chugs on regardless, I am taking the practical route for survival for myself and my family. Putting head in sand is to beleive we can still change it, and change Chinas commitment.
Looking up to the cruel bitter realities is to make sure we can survive it ourselves wouldnt you say?

Sorry dude but I don't think it would work, eventually there's gonna be a rebellion in your city on new years eve and then some guy is going to show up and start killing civilians (who have gone crazy at this point) and rescuing little girls afflicted with horrid genetic modification. Oh and you are pretty much forced to read Atlas Shrugged if you do this. But seriously, more people should have some type of spacer in their sigs to show it's not part of the post. |

Edited by: GiantSquid on 15/05/2008 18:36:05 I just visited the us and dont get me wrong I like it, I like allot of the folks and my family liked the change it made to thier lives even in another contry (africa). BUT its like a massive after war caddilac, it looks and sounds great but in reality its monster :(.... I wish it was the other way around, in the uk we have big trend to drive 4x4 in the city,.... I like driving off road in one and some folks really need one with farms n stuff but not to carry a brief case around.
Its not fear its about rying to pop the buble before its past the point of no return.
u can see that it hurts me to say it all... but it we only have his one place to live in rl away from the isk world.
like I made in an earlier post Im very pleased ccp have reduced there methane emmisions for the hampsters... gj guys every little helps, and that my point,
if eveyone does a little it makes a big change,
The only radical thing I see that could help on large scale is they just craked getting our dna reely fast. They can now change stuff and all the zombie type movies could actually happen, even arguments about how u want your child to look are big issues to us but if the can make things fuel from it that wont harm the world :)... or organisems that make oxygen from co2 faster then treas.
Its not all doom n gloom. I just hope we can buy those dudessome time.

Thats actually pretty easy you just need a cheap way to store the power without using actual batteries... thats where it gets a bit tricky but you could in theory just use a windmill as a "starter" to charge enough power into some capacitors to get an electrolysis system going at which point your self sustained provided you dont run out of water but since it works in reverse you should in theory be able to rejoin the hydrogen and oxygen to form water again and restore it pretty constantly.... just need say 4x 5000 gallon tanks for water and 1 each for oxygen and hydrogen.... though i've never really messed with electrolysis so yeah...
sorry for the block of text...

my advice is to take everything you read with a mountain of salt. ALl these scares are utter bullcrap. Who remembers SARS? and even bird flu. global warming is a money making scheme along the lines of "Global warming will kill us all! Now let us tax you more so that we can put it right" yeah... There are countless ploys by the goverment to make us more scared and therfore more maelleable to their wishes. The war on terror? How can you possibly have a war on Terrorism. Impossible. yet We got fooled again, so that they can tap our calls, hold us without charge and other infringements. The terrorists are made to look bad because they DARED attack the US and UK, terrorist attacks are not limited to muslim radicals. Our own goverments constantly fund and instigate terrorist attacks against other nations. Nuclear power is ridiculously safe. There are so many failsafes that the chance of anything going wrong is insignificant, and before you pull out the chernobyll card that was built against regulations, with inneficient equipment.
Thats alotta text. But heres a rather nice quote:
"A man who reads nothing is wiser than a man who reads nothing but newspapers"

Electrolysis is easy. Just two electrodes hooked to a battery and something in the water to help conduct electricty (like baking soda). Try http://www.instructables.com/id/Collecting-Hydrogen-and-Oxygen/ for a DIY system.
However, electrolysis/hydrogen sucks as a form of battery. For medium-sized storage, the easiest solution is to pump water up to a tank, then have it run a turbine when it runs back down.

Edited by: Kirjava on 15/05/2008 19:04:47 I tried with electroysis capacitors - not very efficient but I'm not running a business.
The pumped water solution sounds the more viable option - ultimatly my hydroponics will deternime how much energy I need I think.
I'm taking what they say... not entirely seriously, but a bunkers a bunker and if everyones going to go crazy over global warming (regardless of its validness) then I may very well want to be in a diferent biosphere to them

Edited by: GiantSquid on 15/05/2008 19:11:25 I love that when u sit on the front lines in eve and then see the spins on the forums u can apply the same rules to watching reel news, u just have some more tallented folks maybe doing the spins :P.
Hand on my heart we have a person at work whose sole job is to talk to ministers and environmental folk (they where already in this field) and travel regularly to some pritty keyed up folk to whats really happening. It was a it of an eye opener to say the leest and most of its commen sence. We dont see emmisions, or anyone die when we pollute but we are in a bubble and it can only take so much.
If u think its all not true, go watch how they kill off the rain forrest with ur own eyes and the last friggen people on the plannet who know how to live withought killing it for the new "bio fuel" ..... whislt realsiing they cant sustain it of course it could bring in some nice cash. Thats just one example but u could always go find a friendly proffesor/ forum of people that measure this stuff.

Tbh the world isn't going to end because of global warming.
The absolute worst that would happen is the popualtion would drop a bit and then level out again and we'd all carry on.
I personally get fed up of people trying to scare me into doing stuff. If some guy came to my house campaining against global warming and saying how I was ruining the planet I would slap some sense into him and show him the door.

If they come over just get a blackrobe with a red hex on it, and quickly pull out some stone demon figurines and put them near the front door. Light some candles, dim the lights, then open the door.
My mothers a Jehovah witness and they seem to believe they are the only people going to heaven; I can't speak for all of them (though they believe they will be the few that will be on the thrones next to Christ - which is a wide belief with them, or at least thats what my Mom has said) but my mom thinks shes the only person in this world who is perfect and will be going straight to heaven.
If they think your a devil worshiper - they may likely think your completely lost, or a member of one of Satans spirit legions (they don't believe in full-blown demon creatures, but they believe in evil angel spirits, the ones that rebelled against god with Satan); they are nonviolent so they shouldn't be the types who would try to kill you in the name of god. Drafts have put them in jail before over this.
May or may not work, they may see through your trick and attempt to 'save and convert' you though. They obsess over that line of text in the bible that says to spread the word of god - wither or not they are invading peoples space and privacy. I don't have a problem with them since my mom belongs to them, so they marked my address on their hit-list as DONE. ____________________

Nah - you have to be careful of what you say to them. They may view that as a interest or something, or try to create discussion from that.
If your not careful about what you say, they will come even more frequently until your subscribing for watchtower magazine and attending their meetings. ____________________
