In response to todays tragedy a large group of pilots coordinated a relief effort. Pilots engaged in primary medical care, systems repair and evacuation operations for the injured.
At this point relief efforts are ongoing and will likely continue for the forseeable future but this report will serve to detail the initial operations up to this point.
Initial coordination was set-up between Sylvain Lemieux, Julianus Soter and Verin 'Stitcher' Tarn-Hakatain with Captain Tarn-Hakatain providing emergency medical care, Captain Soter and several emergency response teams organising patient transit as well as reestablishing communications and Captain Lemieux and his drone teams attempting repair of station life support and vital systems. An open communications channel was begun and quickly grew in size as more pod-pilots became aware of the full extent of the damage.
Particular thanks must go to both the aforementioned Captains Soter and Tarn-Hakatain and the following; Vieve Tisserand, Dex Nederland, Garion Avarr, Natalcya Katla and Rufus Ionone. All of these pilots demonstrated exemplerary courage and selflessness and exposed themselves to myriad dangers to save many lives. This is in no measure a full list of all who gave their assistance and the efforts of every single person involved will never be forgotten.
Through the combined efforts of all the pilots we were able to bring a significant quantity of food and medical equipment to the station and provide preliminary medical attention to over 20,000 victims. Despite the chaos ensuing outside the station,, as reckless pod pilots began shooting each other and a riot threatened to erupt, all injured were stabilised and transported by Freighter to the New Caldari system for further treatment.
The Freighter of Rufus Ionone evacuating injured personnel
I thank every single person who has assisted this operation and continues to do so. Even now, four hours after we began there are still extensive relief efforts ongoing and perhaps the most striking thing is the sight of Gallente standing shoulder to shoulder with Caldari, Amarr and Matari working side by side, national loyalties temporarily forgotten in a great show of unity. This will be a day marked forever as displaying both the best and the worst in the human condition.

Additionally thanks goes to pilots Kale Ryoko, Yuki Li, Sayuri Itsu in the appropriation of a vast sum of antibiotics and transporting it to Malkalen for the Ishukone Relief Program.
Pilot Rutin O'Scorbin, along with others, continued to comb the battered halls and debris-filled passages of the station, even with the risk of fire from a hydrazine leak.

I would like to publicly re-state my concerns about Federation-based terrorist groups being allowed to take part in this effort.
It seems odd that people with sympathies towards the possible perpetrators of this atrocity should be allowed near the crime scene.

Edited by: Julianus Soter on 16/05/2008 00:14:26 Yes, as reported elsewhere, there have been some low-lifes trying to profit from the chaos and despair. Omerta Syndicate is persuing "corrective action" against these individuals, something that I applaud. Honestly... how much lower can you go, than trying to divert supplies from those that are dying simply so you can make a pretty dime at the end of the day? --- This post is not the official statement of my alliance or corporation.

I think this relief action helped a lot of us deal with today. I'm exhausted, and I don't know how to deal with tommorrow yet.
Someone still on site, please - make sure Stitcher gets some rest eventually, preferably before he falls over.

Federal European Industry Science and Research has brought some resources requested by the Ishukone in their Relief Operation Plan. Alas, the orders they made are no longer there. We will be leaving the materials in the system and wait for another order intended to help the victims. We'd also like to urge all those delivering their convoys now - do not support the vile traders who want to make profit on today's tragedy. Wiat for another call from the Ihukone. The station is still on fire, your help will be surely needed.

I need anyone who has any experience with the schematics and subsystems of the Nyx supercarrier to contact me immedietely. I'm heading up a team of repair drones, and there's a very visible piece of pulsing wreckage embedded near the station's main primary power core, and we need to know what it is. -----

On that note, could someone from Ishukone please contact either myself, Stitcher, Julianus Soter, or Sylvain Lemieux, we have been coordinating much of the pod-pilot relief efforts and have collected a fair amount of supplies that we would prefer to turn over directly to Ishukone, rather than use the market system. ________________________________ This is not a signature. |

Can I set up a contract directly to one of you when we have accumulated a decent amount of materials? Some of our senior members are currently on leave and are being called back to active service just now. Speaking of which it would be best if Ishukone chose from their ranks someone to whome we could contract all the resources gathered.

I arrived at the station early today, around 1330 or 1400 I believe. For hours I surveyed the damage, giving what assistance I could, however I was limited by my shuttle, and even when I began using my Retriever to move supplies and assist those looking to leave the station, it was just staggering. Yet, there is one image I cannot forget, it burned itself into my mind.
A man, or what was left of him as a large portion of his torso's right side had been torn off, frozen in the vacuum of space with their hand wrapped around the remains of a reinforced door's handle, floating there among the wreckage.
Ishukone's recovery teams were able to recover the body, however the terror and fear that was running through that man's mind must have been staggering. We are near-immortal, and to some death is nothing be it yours or others, however for this man, whose name we may never know, it came in a violent, horrific assault at what was to be a movement for peace.
There were countless people doing what they could to assist, and thankfully coordination among capsuleers began to show and it seemed to go much more efficiently. I'm glad to see people came together to assist in helping limit the damage and loss caused by the Admiral's insanity.
There will be no good from this, no profit worth the loss, there will likely be a demand for answers, action, and justice.

Its good to see people wanting to help but please keep in mind that only experienced people should be venturing into the damaged sections to rescue those still trapped in the wreckage. If you still want to go in and look for people please go with someone who has experience in these kind of things so you too don't become a victim. Check in at the main staging area for the details. Thank you for all the work you have and are doing. ----- *results may vary*

I arrived at the station around 15:00, several hours after the incident but as fast as possible following the word reaching me. I've been shipping in crew all day to aid in the effort, and have been out of contact. I was glad to find the Malkalen Relief channel upon my return to coms.
These people are doing an incredible job, please support them. I have asked Mr Nederland to use any left over funds from the Caldari Prime incident to help with the aid to Ishukone.
I would call on all pilots, not just Caldari, but anyone who cares for human life, and who wishes to prevent human suffering, to add to the effort in any way you can. Hundreds of thousands of people lived aboard this station - they need our help. --------------

I would help, but, not only am I far from the site, but the only ships I have at the moment are a Tristran and a Vexor, niether with any fittings except for combat (Pirate hunting with my Corporation, for those who ask). Probably not a welcome sight at a time like this. If there IS anything I can do, I believe you have my channel, Sylvain. Honour and Peace, to all those involved. ****************************

I have several industrials with more supplies to bring. I am curious to know if the Ishukone reps are managing to keep ahead of the profiteers at Malkalen so that when I drop them off to sell, they are given to the proper people to be dispensed to the wounded and other distaster victims.
Also are there any other supplies needed? I understand the need for Antibiotics, but should we bring frozen food or water? perhaps constuction materials to aid in station repairs.
Please lets us know so we can get these things done ASAP.
My thanks.

No. They are overwhelmed.
The largest standing order for antibiotics in Malkalen appears to be from someone named Maru Sha, a representative from a Matari corporation that bills itself as "The Department of Justice". It is unclear at this time if Mademoiselle Sha and her corporation have set up this order in order to assist Ishukone, or if they merely seek to benefit from the generosity of all who have responded to this disaster.

Understandable.
I have had a pilot of T.E.C. Enterprises, one Niko Medes, contract over a large supply of Antibiotics for the relief effort. Those and my own corporation's purchases are ready to be delivered as soon as the situation clears with the profiteers.

Maru Sha and The Department of Justice are profiteering on the back of this tragic event, they are not engaged in securing antibiotics for the relief effort and have diverted much needed aid from those who desperately require it.
As Mr Soter has correctly pointed out, Omerta Syndicate are taking appropriate steps to ensure The Department of Justice understand that their actions were inappropriate and to encourage them not to repeat this deplorable behaviour in the future.
If you are delivering aid, please be vigilant to ensure you are dealing with Ishukone personnel and not profiteers feeding off a disaster to ensure it is distributed where required.

I want to personally thank all of those who still to this moment continue bringing aid and working tirelessly to help those injured and dying.
Much is said of pod-pilots, we are thought of as detached, self interested and arrogant but this impression has been convincingly shattered by the actions of all of you these days. The recent news article is no more than you all deserve.
Perhaps once this horror has subsided we may put the effort we have placed in helping those in Malkalen to helping the galaxy avoid annihalation.

I was in charge of commanding relief operation since Garion Avarr ask for substitution from 22,40 till minutes ago. Since i take command, we had to keep facing every sort of emergencies. We moved the survivors and the wounded to all the medical facilities in Malkalen and Korama (Perkone Station). We did all we can to prevent any further damage to the station, dealing with all the treaths coming from ammo storages, chemical and radioctive leaks and so on. Lot of very valuable pilots prove theirself to be real heroes, i'd like to mention Emily Marelor, with her priceless helps in everything involving medical issues and wounded assistance, Falathi Hinthu who help to bring back normality in some levels of the station to make rooms for supplies and personnel, and Amieta Invelen, who carry on the most dangerous duties with no fear. Amieta took command after me in coordinating the efforts, i'll trade them all the goods people bring to Ishukone to help the relief plan (i recieved them from Garion Avarr when it was my turn to coordinate the operations). There are more people that prove theirself to be heroes, Shadowcolt who deal with pirates preventing them to come too close to the station, Vikram Dasari who helps with transport of wounded and homeless and many more...
Important advice to everyone that want to bring more goods to the Station: we have to face several Gurista and Mercenary Attacks. They see this situation like the perfect chance to steal stuff from unprotected industrial ships. We have all we need to face the emergencies for the next hours, so ask carefully if something's needed before adventuring with your cargo in the system. Otherwise, check the buy orders Ishukone has made is the Ishukone Watch Station and bring the stuff there.
Despite the hard work, there is still much to do. Anyone that wants to help the cause can join the channel and ask the commander in charge how to be usefull.

Amieta looks pale and drawn. Her right arm ends in a sullenly sparking stump mid-bicep.
Command has been turned over to captain Avarr. My earlier injuries have caught up to me, and I felt I was no longer competent to command for the time being. I will continue the effort under the command of whoever is in charge once I've rested a bit.
I would like to say that a great debt is owed to pilots such as Mr Avarr and CrazedNightHawk who have risked life and limb to aid the effort, alongsid the teams of personnel pulled from various corporations for this effort. We could really use more volunteers of their caliber.
Mr Avarr safely breached a damaged ammo bunker, risking his life to ensure that the remainder of the station wasn't imperiled.
Crazed walked into an unknown EM anomaly which turned out to be a malfunctioning ECM drone ejected from the exploding Nyx. He went into the situation blind as it jammed all sensors and communication.
I can't tell you the hope it gives me to see pilots such as these, working together with the teams of personnel from so many corporations to save who they can and stabalize the situation. -----

Command has been passed to Aeris Infinity. At this point, we are still conducting Search and Rescue operations, however, we are now finding only sporadic survivors.
We had our people do a lot of good things, however, after almost fifteen hours out there, I am too exhausted to properly describe their heroism, so I will not let my poor attempt seem to undervalue anyone's contribution or forget someone, but I will just say that everyone who has come to help has been a great asset, and I am tremendously proud of them.
This is a horrible tragedy, but it has brought out the very best in a lot of people, even if we have seen a few individuals try to take advantage of the situation. ________________________________ This is not a signature. |
