My post is not too demean or put anyone down but to merely tell the tale from this point of view. Its unfortunte and a complete letdown no matter who it is. As a mmo things should not be dictated by outside forces ESPECIALLY the game itself. If this is how wars are won and lost then your right ccp is in dire straights because no way im living through that crap for another year. Skill has gone out the window and the most numbers (or better brackets) wins the day.

Well TBH, skill still played quite a part if the IRC fleet was in 3 places when they should have been together in 1 place.
1. Docked: Anyone worth their salt knows you do not dock at a station when you're expecting hostilities 2. At a POS 3. Jumping in at a gate
If the people docked were at a POS instead and ready to warp to the gate, and the caps at the POS had warped to the gate when their allied support fleet jumped in, it could have been a much bigger fight. Having an equal sized fleet split into 3 parts so it becomes 3x 3:1 fights isn't the smartest thing you could do.

No offense, but trying to blame that mess strictly on lag is nonsense. Why the heck did ED/IRC allow us to essentially shut down the system (when there was little or no lag). Why did ED log INSIDE a station. Everyone knows you don't log in a station in a war. Why did you try to execute a complicated "everything at once" type of fight when you KNEW there would be tons of lag that would interfere with any such effort.
To allow us to lock down a system and then complain when lag clobbers you in a huge ETFPWNBBQ battle is just bad planning.... or a failure at the alliance level.
Man up. Admit you screwed the pooch. Move on. 'Cause if you try and blame it all on lag, then you've already failed. ------------------------------------------

Hey, just wanted to put my input
I waited hours in WNM- for the capitals to jump in r-6.... we finaly get the jump and we all jump in. A few hours later, and a few more POSs sieged IRC/ED came in with 200+ *please correct me if i am wrong* with at least 20-35 capitals *again, correct me if i am wrong* After 30 minutes of my lagging in my carrier, only being able to lock the enemy *even then it took 5 minutes* my fighters are unable to enage the enemy Capital ships. Once Smashkill + friends killed 10 Capitals the lag dropped alittle *for me at least* and then we lost one Capital, because he had a bug and crashed... oops!
After all the IRC/ED Capitals + support have been beaten, they cynoed out their remaining capitals and left us to loot!
ok, i took some Xfire screen shots...

No offense Pandi but douche bag doesn't come close to explaining someone who takes credit for his sides success when he had zero to do with it.
Here is a clue Sparky, your side has way more spies then you and we have plenty in on your side.
In fact, your own side laughs at your intel because they consider you a "double spy". How is that for new eh Sparky?

So finally getting past the black screen of undock to find yourself either half way through hull or in your clone is a fair fight? That's the story of at least one of the carrier pilots who undocked from the station, I should know, I watched it happen, or thought I did for the 10 or so minutes I was sitting outside the station being told I had docked , taking fire from drones but not taking damage.
The node was *seriously* screwed and CCP should be paying royalties to microsoft for so blatantly ripping off the Powerpoint rendering engine for big full node battles..
I mean, seriously CCP. FIX THE NETCODE *BEFORE* you let me walk around a station in this Internet "SPACESHIP" game.. If I wanted to FPS, I'd be playing tribes or something..
It taking 30 full minutes for 11 fighters to kill 1 large t1 bubble is a little wrong don't you think? -- The views expressed in this post are mine and in no way reflect the views of my Corp, my Alliance or my pet Iquana, Julio Ignacio DoubleGlazias. |

here here, it's going to be funny if they dont fix there **** by the time they release the walk around station, the lag is already going to go to rediculouse amounts with this new update comming out. I'm going to laugh when after a week of being released no one is doing faction fighting because there is way to much lag.

It is a shame when lag becomes a major factor. I don't mind losing, and credit to the forces arrayed against us, yes, you probably had a better plan, but let us look at this as players as opposed to opponents for a moment.
For those who died, on both sides, I can think of nothing worse then joining the good fight only to be killed without even being able to see your death. There's a lot of experience on both sides and I hate being in large battles where I've put years of skilling in, and dying without even seeing the enemy. I'm sure on the RK/Smash et al side there are others who feel the same way. Any fight in ED space is a big fight for us as we're not a big alliance, so it sucks being in a battle without even getting a shot off because of lag.
Losing can be fun too, as long as you're playing. De-sync and lag make players just lose interest, CCP. Not that I'm quitting, but I can understand the whining. I much prefer the smaller battles because then if I die I at least feel I contributed to the game.

I think the main point that people have been trying to make was that everyone was lagging and both sides suffered from it. It's only becoming a heated discussion because some are trying to make it seem that only IRC/ED was lagging.
I do agree with you though Yal, all and all, epic fail on CCP so no one wins

I agree. However, if you see your allies putting everything on the line for you (IRC lost 8 dreads, 2 carriers and you lost 2 dreads and 1 carrier) I would do my utmost best to show them you are something worth fighting for. This was a pathetic performance for ED. So even more props to IRC for bringing it.

My semi educated view on it. (12 years in the internet infrastructure industry)
A good 25 of your dreads and 25+ of your carriers were already in system and had been for at least an hour before we arrived. Suddenly local spikes to >400 and 170-200 new players in the system have to recieve the obligatory "War and Peace" worth of positional and content information for everything in the system from the station to every roid in the belts to the can hidden behind planet 5 with Clerence's personal stash of exotic dancers..
The sheer volume of this information the server has to share,(via netcode designed to support carebears with PSTN modems) whilst also pulling the data from everyone who just jumped in and sharing that with local is staggering but even then, the people who have been here for an hour have already recieved the bulk of this data, asteroids, the other 200 people in the system etc. So yes, there was lag all around but the people who jumped in and logged on with the 400 spike would have recieved the most shi**y end of this stick.
Think about it while you keep the "Oh we raped you guyz" position going. Then maybe whine at CCP some more so they do something to fix it sooner rather than later. -- The views expressed in this post are mine and in no way reflect the views of my Corp, my Alliance or my pet Iquana, Julio Ignacio DoubleGlazias. |

While some of the recent reports on that KB recentl have been inaccurate (Smash have said somewhere else they had DB corruption which explains it), that looks correct. I think Smash would agree that ED/IRC are not so incompetent at FCing as to lose so many ships while taking so few, so while I agree they might have had us on this occasion, the vast difference in ratios is more to do with the node lag. In other battles where lag has been less SmashKill have won and lost with the numbers looking more normal.

Wow, I think that kind of proves the points in my post before yours.. I hope everyone petitions this and doesn't take no for an answer, maybe 100 man days of dev to fix the netcode will suddenly seem cheap compared to the 10000 man days of GM's answering reimbursement tickets? -- The views expressed in this post are mine and in no way reflect the views of my Corp, my Alliance or my pet Iquana, Julio Ignacio DoubleGlazias. |

Yes but the spike happened because of all those ships jumping/logging and everyone got hit with it. Not to mention we still have to load all those ships that just jumped/logged while having the 400 spike and its kinda hard to lock onto someone who just jumped in with a spike and they havnt appeared on sensors yet because the game hasnt even registered that person is there.
I would also like to point out that the lag issue has been talked about by more corps/alliances than us and everyone should always figure on rediculouse lag happening during a battle of that size.
I also believe most of RK/smash have been saying GF despite all the harsh words that have been passed .
oh and when did i say we pwned you, was just stating everyone got lagged. It affected you guys the most not just because you all warped and logged around the same time but also because of the whole POS shield thing with the gobs of lag, I honestly think that played a major role in the battle.
So yes lag did screw you more than us, but the battles over, nothing can change the outcome of the past, just take another stab or 2 at us and have fun...
