I've used a Cerberus in Level 4 missions and frankly, it isn't something you want to do. With that said, this is what I used:
[Cerberus, L's Cerberus - HMLs] Ballistic Control System II Ballistic Control System II Ballistic Control System II Shield Power Relay II
Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Invulnerability Field II Photon Scattering Field II Invulnerability Field II
'Arbalest' Heavy Missile Launcher, Scourge Heavy Missile 'Arbalest' Heavy Missile Launcher, Scourge Heavy Missile 'Arbalest' Heavy Missile Launcher, Scourge Heavy Missile 'Arbalest' Heavy Missile Launcher, Scourge Heavy Missile 'Arbalest' Heavy Missile Launcher, Scourge Heavy Missile [empty high slot]

I would suggest using Raven or even Drake. While it's quite possible to do them in cerberus you get a lot better results for a lot smaller price with those with significally better survivability.
As far as setup goes, it's usually either heavy missile passive tanked or active faction tank with HAM's. Both of them usually find also room for domination afterburner as speed is your friend with smaller ships in missions.

My current setup
High 5 HAML II with javs/std/CN Tractor Beam
Mids 2 Pithi B-Type Small Shield Boosters Caldari Navy Shield Boost Amplifier 2 Mission specific T2 Hardeners
Low 3 BCS II CFC II
Rigs 2 CCC
With 5/5 cap skills and +3% cap implant will perma run. Up to 420dps or so with L4 missile skills and a couple of 3% implants. Can kill Rachen in about 3.5 mins. Not ideal by any means - at range and vs Sansha/Blood/Drones it lacks a lot of firepower, but it can do L4's without too much difficulty, if a bit slowly. ------------------------------------------------ Just because your not paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you! |

Edited by: Kenji Kikuta on 20/05/2008 20:21:45 Today I took out my Cerberus for the first time. I was really excited to see how it would perform, especially as the virigin mission was Worlds Collide level 4 Guristas/Serpentis
The only troubles I had was with the Angel Spies (damn piranha missiles) in the second pocket on the Serpentis side. Otherwise, that mission was cake, in particular on the Guristas side...hardly had to turn on the shield booster.
My previous ship was the Drake and thus my cap skills are at level3/4. The following setup reflects that.
HIGHs: 5 HMLII (with fury ammo), 1 tractorbeam MEDs: 1 Pithi B Small Shield Booster (less than 20mill), 1 medium cap injector (100s), 3 shield hardeners LOWs: 4 BCSII RIGS: 1 kinetic shield resist, 1 thermal shield resist
With my missile skills and implants this baby delivers some 400 dps. Kinetic/Thermal resists are somewhere 93-95%.
I still have to encounter Blood/Sansha, for which i will have 2 EM resist (77% resist) and 1 thermal (93% resist). I think this will suffice as these rats are cake in level 4 missions.
Many players probably want to fit a few PDU's in low slots and CCC rigs, but i simply dont see the point. The injector charges are very cheap, 1-2k isk, and a full rack of BCSII gives a nice boost to dps. Why sacrifice dps for a perma tank? Micromanaging wont hurt you. However, if you have a crappy internet connection and fear disconnects...perhaps you should go with the perma tank anyways.
Regarding the fury missiles, sure they cost some, but the total cost per mission is equal to or less the bounty of one typical npc battleship. Also, with level 3 in missile projection/bombardment and level 4 heavy assault ship your effective range is 63 km. The max range is 91 km with relevant skills at level 5.
When I get more familiar with this ship, I'll most likely swap one of the hardeners for an AB. Speed is nice. As it is now, it's a miniature Drake...a brick standing still and spewing missiles :)...but way cooler!
All in all, I doubt i'll ever go back to the Drake for missions/complexes. The cerberus has alot of potential and imo is wortwhile training for!
EDIT: Regarding the Pithi B small shield booster, i got this advice from Ragnor Dayton in another thread...thanks man! It works like a charm. 2 of them active should save your from the fatal mistake of aggroing a whole pocket while warp scrambled.

QFT... Unless you just get a kick out of using a Cerb, it's pretty silly to use it for level 4 missions.

Edited by: Kerfira on 21/05/2008 17:05:54 A cerb is quite fun to use for L4's, but not if your objective is to earn money. Once you've struggled through a mission once or twice in a cerb and the 'fun' part has worn off, using a properly fitted CNR will seem like heaven.....

As a pilot with maxed out skills for the Cerb and the Drake I would say stick with a drake although the drake is slower it has better dmg and better tank, and more importantly a much cheaper ship to replace If you want anymore info contact me ingame as im a member of that small group of lvl4 runners that doesnt use a navy raven to run lvl4's
