Sorry to sound very newbish, but i really dont see how anyone can stop me exploring unless they can lock gates. Can stargates be locked?
I actually found it quite funny, i was being threatened with death, yet, you dont really die in eve so isn't that a bit pointless?
Anyway, got more sightseeing to do, i set my clone deep in 'their' space, hehe pod away! Lets see if it makes any difference...

The JQA alliance claim space in Syndicate; I believe its a pretty open spot though, with pirates and miners and bounty hunters and assorted bravos all doing the neutron tango around the stargates.
My respect to Enidia for holding her ground though.

Myself I'd like to see some alliance policy evolving, these KOS are thrown around like people are trying to meet a quota.
Are there any that keep their KOS to their claimed space and the vicinity or is this archacronym of bland going to stay galaxy wide for the sake of fraghagging?
We're KOS by the remnants of the ORS, embarassing little story, either way we didn't get shot at in the Outer Ring, yes I know they're not considered to be in control of it. We're not even shot at in the Cloud Ring or Syndicate but in Tash-Murkon.
What is your purpose, what do you stand to gain and what are you defending with a galaxy wide KOS???

Yes I agree, it's actually very childish, all i get from them are 'you're kos, you will die!!' 5 million times If you guys wanna kill me, then kill me! I actually enjoy moving about, and you wont stop me because you can't, I wont let you boss me about.

Nope, stargates cannot be locked. These folks can (assuming they feel like it) chase you around and camp the gates, though, to try and gank you. Feel free to contact me in game, though, and I can give you some tips on avoiding these things...
Good job standing up to these folks, too, by the way!

ok sence no one else seems to want to explain this to u, here is basically how it works:
Alliances in 0.0 space camp gates and keep people out of the space that they "claim" so as to keep people out for various reasons. These reasons are ussually like to keep u from mining the valuble minerals there that they want for themselves, or to keep scouts out for any type of attack.
There are many alliances in 0.0 space, this alliance this guy is part of sounds like a bunch of nobodys in my opinion and i would bet that they dont have 300+ ppl.
In the end they dont want u flying in that space b/c they have worked hard to secure it, and want to keep it safe to mine and so forth, and if u want to explore, feel free, but dont be upset if ppl want to kill u, ur in 0.0 space and are a risk of breaking their security. ---------------

She raises some really good points about ownership of the stargates and stations, though. Most alliances that spring up in 0.0 do so because of the infrastructure already there which (ic, at least) has presumably been put in at least partially by public funding. In the case of JQA, for instance, I have occasionally put in at various stations to buy trade goods. These stations were built (and are owned) by corporations like Ishukone that really have nothing to do with the space-closing alliances that have formed on those areas. When I visited to buy trade goods, Ishukone was happy to have me dock and buy goods, while various JQA folks were at the same time showering me with threats.
I can understand an alliances desire for security, and to prevent people from "strip mining" "their" minerals, but most of these alliances operate with an entirely too heavy hand.

So... who's claiming Syndicate these days, really? Or are different groups just claiming constellations? ------------- My salsa makes all the pretty girls want to dance and take off their underpants. I <3 ( . Y . ) |

well any alliance that will try to close to everyone the syndicate region will have serious problems with FA, NORAD, and Arcadia alliances that need to go through syndicate from their claimed space to empire
Originally by: Ezra Edited by: Ezra on 01/05/2004 14:55:15 What to NORAD or AA say about this supposed "JQA Alliance" in their territory, threatening people that pass through?
i think they arent aware of that yet. It may end with a war if JQA doesn't contact those alliances asap

JQA and 3rd mission are small alliances, jqa seems to have problems with control, they have a choke (xs-xay) that is rarely ever camped, and they don't have enough people online to actualy protect what they have. 3rd mission on the other hand has a small region which they constantly camp and while they do this, they seem quite freindly (to my experience at least). I can go on with details, but if you want details eve-mail me and i might get back to you.
To those of FA, N.O.R.A.D. etc. they pose no threat at present as thier space is away from pf and fd.

JQA claims the JQV5-5 constellation, hence the name and possibly also MK7-A0.
They do have a good presence there most times and the claims are quite modest, we still don't recognize claims to sovereign systems but some are easier than others to tolerate.
I seriously doubt any of the mentioned alliances would have a problem with these people unless of course seeking it for problems sake. The JQA do battle frequently with the 5-10 rogue outfits roaming Pirates Alley, the stretch from Orvolle to Pertnineere and as such gets all the hassle they need. A word of advice to the vigilante thinking about going there teaching them manners, it may not be them at all you get to lecture.

I don't recognise any such territorial claims space should be free for all to travel, as they wish

Since no-one else has responded, I'll respond unnofficially. JQA and 3rd Front are the active alliances in syndicate. As you've guessed they are up and coming alliances. I believe I can speak for both alliances when I say that we're trying to carve out a niche in syndicate.
Generally people can explore, look around, npc hunt or whatever but mining tends to tick the alliances off because there are very few high end ores there.
Both alliances have, and will work together very well and why we've not merged yet is beyond me. Both alliances are still growing, that's why maybe the KOS thing is being banded around a little too readily but with lots of pirate corporations around (Killer Clowns, Corp 1, DNA just to name 3) we have to be quite vigilant at all times.
Disclaimer: I'm in 3rd Front alliance, my views may not represent JQA :)
In regards to the chatlog, maybe that was a little heavy handed but you were being a bit*****y and non-compliant. If you'd tried being a bit more diplomatic then I'm sure it would have been sorted.

Funny, that. First time I ever went up into that area of space (to pick up some cargo I'd already purchased) I saw the cans and followed their instructions. I called out my intentions in local and went about my business. The folks in local declared that I was KOS for being in "their" space, regardless of what I was doing. That sort of behavior doesn't really encourage people to follow your "rules"...
