Edited by: Joshua Foiritain on 17/05/2008 18:48:00 The news post says "'Saturday the 24th" AND "Next Saturday", since it was posted 3 days ago next Saturday would be today but Saturday the 24th is next week, which is it? -----

Well, it doesn't look like it's today. Which is a shame, because I deliberately made time to log on to Sisi to help with the testing.
CCP, why do you keep doing this? Every bloody news item about a release or testing goes through this process.
"Join us next Tuesday, the 11th June."
"Actually, Tuesday is the 12th."
"And it's not next Tuesday, we mean the Tuesday after."
"Oh, and we*****ed up the build, so it'll be Thursday 22nd."
"Oops, we mean Thursday 21st. Sorry."
Aaaaaaaaargh!

The whole world should just switch to gmt and be done with it. Why should I care if I work from 22:00 to 06:00 in my part of the world :P

What's it got to do with GMT? The news said a few days ago "Empyrean Age testing on singularity next saturday, 24 may, at 19.00 gmt". "Next Saturday" is actually today, but then they say its on 24th. I think they've had too much beer.

That was written according to "Greyscale standardized references", in which the immediately following Saturday is "this Saturday" and the one after is "next Saturday" (this maximizes linguistic efficiency). My mother works on what appears to be "Foiritain standardized", where "this Saturday" and "next Saturday" are identical. Thishas been the cause of many prior arguments. Regardless, the news article is intended to convey the information that the scheduled test is on the 24th. Apologies for the confusion

The test server event starts on 24, but when do you upload the faction warfare patch on sisi ? In another thread it has been confirmed that for alliance members it will take 48h to sign up with a militia (24h to leave the alliance, 24h for the corp to sign up), for corps 24h. So the patch will be online on sisi 2 days ahead of 24th ? Or if not, does this mean that anyone in a corp or alliance is excluded from the testing event on 24th or is only limited to observe/assit/pvp content ?

You should listen to your Mother ;)
Otherwise say "the Saturday after next"

Your mum's wrong and you're right, and lets face it, that won't happen very often.
At least in my part of the world, "next saturday" is referring to the Saturday AFTER "this Saturday" which is the Saturday which is next. A bit confusing after the way I've just written that, but still what I'd consider to be correct.
The main confusion came from the fact it was posted ON a Saturday (if I remember correctly), so lots of people got lost because of that. Haha.

Actually it got posted on a Thursday, which would put the next Saturday on the first one in line. ---- Meh |

It all depend on what you define as the "current" saturday. Is it the last saturday that came or is it the next saturday to come ?
As saturday end when sunday begin, does it mean that at this precise moment you jump to the next one or do you wait it to actually "hit" the present to see it as the current one ?
In other words, do you look backward or forward ?

perhaps as far as the corps leavng corp or so forth for SISI purposes its easy enough to allow u to resign youre corp from alliance and have it go through straight away same for player leaving corp ( only on SISI ) for hte purposes of quick FW testing

Ummm... you realize that if you ask your alliance leader to kick a corp out of an alliance, that's kinda instantaneous right? No 24h wait on that one.
