You know how apparently you'll be able to modify a lot of your character's features, like their hair, outfit, even things like weight and scars? What about, well, their bust size ? Let's face it, as EVE is predominantly male, there is likely to be a lot of people that will give their characters the... maximum endowment possible - would it be unrealistic for CCP to allow this on all the female characters? Or will all of them be the same size in order to avoid this kind of issue? Does anyone else think this might be slightly sexist, an maybe even counterproductive if the devs are trying to bring more women into the game? While we can have fat or slim women, we might see one pair of double D's after another walking down the station? Would there be, maybe, racial caps on sizes (maybe related to a character's charisma )? Someone from CCP, help me out here ! (PS: Don't laugh )

Minmatar come from a warrior culture, and in a warrior culture you probably strive for physical prowess even if you yourself don't actually plan on engaging others in open war. But if you're going to build yourself into a human weapon you don't want to be encumbered by something as unnecessary as a large chest. 2. I've always figured that grace was a defining aspect of Gallente physical ideals, so based on that I'd presume people would want a trim, slender body type, which for women would include a smaller chest size. 3. Somehow I imagine that the Caldari megacorps look down on sexual harassment and/or the use of sexuality to advance oneself within the corp. You don't want an environment where a completely incompetent person could **** their way to the top, after all, since that would yield the unacceptable result of losing a competitive edge against the other corps. Like everything else in the Caldari world a woman's body would be practical in its proportions (but hopefully more symmetrical than the State's ships and stations.) 4. Amarr.... uh, hmm. Well I can't really think of any reason why the Amarrian women would be dissuaded from being amply endowed in the chest area. Go figure Amarr are the exception to the rule yet again.

On a serious note (I think I have enough serious notes for a whole chord now), we have no idea what will be considered sexually appealing in the future. Generally, traits that are rarer or a look that takes more effort to achieve is considered more attractive. Graceful and athletic body is considerably rarer and takes more effort to achieve then two sacks of fat on your torso -- hell, some men manage to get three of those! Caldari will be very buff, Amaar, not, and I'd imagine everyone else in between, but that you will be able to do a LOT to change this. I like how they've discussed it. It should follow that if my Caldari mining alt babe is lazy, hangs around the bars and never works out she will blob up just like a real person would. I really appreciate that sort of depth and attention to detail. Heck I'll probably let my main toon become a blob of lard (a rich blob of lard who flies battleships). I'd imagine we will be able to make female toons well endowed, but not unrealistically so. Personally I prefer sleek and athletic. But I think people should be allowed to do with and make their avatar whatever they wish to. Heck, why not even introduce plastic surgery to the game as a profession? Star Wars Galaxies had something similar, a profession called "Image Designer" which was one of the "entertainer" professions (along with Musician and Dancer), you could alter pretty much every aspect of character appearance, body shape, etc, and I knew female players (real ones) who absolutely LOVED doing that sort of thing. One side note, you could always tell apart female toons made by real women from ones made by men (and I do always have a female alt, if you gotta look at the back of a toon why not a pretty one?). Guys always made their female toons look like top heavy wasp waisted trollops. One thing I did was have a friend of mine who was one of the aforementioned actual female players who image designed completely redo my SWG female toon. The difference between what my idea was of a female avatar and hers was drastically different, and hers drastically better. Another SWG profession was tailor, which also was female dominated. Basically clothing could be custom made and coloured. I think that this sort of thing should be in EVE with ambulation, as I think it will broaden the player base without altering the core game. After all, we would rather see more female avatars played by women, wouldn't we? My opinions are my own and do not reflect those of my corporation or alliance.

Seriously though, there are certain aspects of the bust that really need to be considered for realistic purposes, as well as other parts of the body. For example: I understand they are working on phonemes for when a character talks. Well, in most games, if a character moves their mouth, it causes the rest of their head to stay fixed in place. This is absolutely absurd. When a person talks their chin and nose moves around, as well as their cheeks. If you want to have a good looking game that approaches the holy grail of animation, you need to take into consideration a few of the following things: Skin sheen. People are NOT shiny, they are matte. Mouth movements. Make the character wiggle their face when they move their pie hole. Bust movement. Busts don't bounce when you walk but they don't stay fixed in place either. Leg anatomy. This is something that I've always found nuts.. legs do not move straight in front of you when you walk. You tend to move them inward to keep your center of gravity. Hair flow. Hair should not move "slowly" for dramatic purposes. It should be bound by the laws of gravity and stay still when you are static and move when you are running. As an animator I can tell you these are all things I strive to see when I am looking at a 3D model. Since we are on the topic of shapes, im curious to know how far we will be able to diverge from the standard human proportions. Ive gone into this a few times in other ambulation threads, but its really the one thing im truly interested in knowing. Humanity in EVE has spread pretty far and wide, settled what one would assume would be quite a few planets as well as having an extensive orbital civilization. While humanity long ago reached the stage where we largely alter the enviroment to suit us as opposed to the opposite, even in EVE it would seem there are still some factors we cannot fully master, such as gravity. These things might still shape us in ways we can't fully control.
