Yesterday I took a little trip through deep space (80 jumps both ways !). I heard about one of those conquerable stations from some guy in Local whilst traveling trough Duripant so I gave it a whirl. Being in an Amarr Frigate I figured I would be dead meat so I paid my ship insurance at 100% and upgraded my clone but to my surprise there were very few players in the 60+ 0.0 systems I traversed twice. Oh there was a guy in a Claw sitting 15km from a gate so I fired some heavy missiles at him and then he woke up and went through the gate. Too bad I wasn't in a Cruiser or his ship would have been toast. This was it for PvP for me until I reached my destination and docked at the player owned station. Those who own this station were none to friendly to "visitors" such as me even though they charge 1 mil isk for an office they don't seem to want people using "their" facilities. I guess they don't know much about economics and how to make money... I'm not one of those to want to waste 1 mil isk per month on office rent in-game but there may be those who would. Oddly enough the only ores that were in this 0.0 system 65 jumps from empire space was Kernite - Kernite can be gotten almost anywhere within empire space so I am puzzled by the placement of this particular station. Getting back to the PvP. I got a bunch of tells in Local from these unfriendly folk who owned this station so I promptly talked some smack and then ignored the lot of them. I can't see the use of reading tells in Local when I am engaged in PvP. I ate lunch and watched some TV let some time pass then I undocked and figured I would be killed pretty fast but then something happened... Those who wanted to kill me were all in BS's but I was in a Frigate so I was able to get into warp faster and also warp faster so I was well ahead of the 3 BS's that chased me. I had an MWD so I was able to get to each gate within 12 seconds meanwhile the BS's couldn't even get a target lock on me let alone fire at my puny lil ship. So I got away but this was my goal all along. Why throw away a ship for no good reason other than to be saved from the boredom of having to make 80 jumps to get back home ?!?
The moral of this story is... if you want to kill a Frigate then you gotta use Frigates to do it. Otherwise BS's and Cruisers simply cannot get into warp fast enough to catch a Frigate. If you want to protect a conquerable station then you gotta have players camping the gates in/out of the system in which the station resides or you have no hope of being able to keep the vermin away. I would not have gotten away if these unfriendly station owners had used 2-3 Frigates camped at the gates I was going to exit thru but seeing how they all sat inside the station with me rather than risking their ships outside the station they lost their ability to kill me.
Eh, it was a loooong boring trip but it was fun to be chased by 3 BS's. Almost killing the Claw made the trip worth it however. Next time I'll have to take my Cruiser down this route to see if I can run across another Claw - I'm thinking 2-3 torpedos should kill it nicely.

why would some1 protect a station against frigates when frigates have nowhere near the firepower to conquer it. And frigates are easilly disposed off by a bs with 2 or 3 sensor booster.

Not gonna read all this now, but... Having a cruiser doesn't mean someones interceptor will be "dead meat". Most cruiser pilots don't fits webs. I have yet to lose my interceptor to a cruiser (I always attack enemy cruisers on sight, except for thorax's). I was close one time but that guy webbed me. In the rest of the fights I have never lost my shields

The guy in a crow was me. My friend knocked at the door. Since I hadn't seen anyone in the system for like 20mins, I decided to just go open the door without warping to a safe place first. After all, all I needed was a few minutes, what were the odds of someone jumping in and attacking me right when I left ? As soon as I reach the door, I hear the sound of the missiles hitting my ship. I run back to the computer, see some missiles hitting me), I engage the mwd and jump out. You scared me man !! Unless you find me again away from the computer, I doubt you have any chance to kill my claw alone. Unless you are in another interceptor of course. Anyway, lesson learned. Even a minute afk in an empty system is too much. I should have warped to a safe place first.

You should always assume you will be attacked whenever possible in EVE ! This goes double in 0.0 space because there is no loss of sec rating so there is no reason not to attack. Thanks for the only PvP I got that day ;-)

WHERE THE **** ARE PLAYER OWNED SENTRY GUNS ?
They are startegically placed out of our hands, why would the devs possibly put something that insanely cool in the game. War as we know it would change, I mean think if you could put warp disruption fields anywhere. Think on it a disruption field then a line of Kestrals with fof crusie missles and webers on then a lline of sentry guns. I would like to see somebody run that blockade. If the devs ever do put player owned guns in I imagine they would have to be put 150k/m from any celestial body. I web with my BB and warp scramble and I have thus aided significantly in destroying interceptors. Bs for the most part can't lock down a frig, if you could lock it quickly then warp/web jam it then the frig is screwed.
Please stop being a third rate flamer,I am tired of reactivating my account just to kick your ass. |
