Edited by: Ghengis Tia on 21/05/2008 17:58:43 I once sold some modules valued at 2.5 mil Isk for 1000 Isk ea. I contacted the player and after a hassle with the contract system I got my money back, I sent him a good amount of Isk for all his trouble.
If the player isn't a jerk, they should get your money back to you, less expenses of course, and maybe a nominal fee for their hassle.
When you contact them make them a reasonable offer (say 5 mil Isk) for their trouble. And hope like heck they have mercy on you.
Good luck, hope you get your Isk back!

Amongst other mistakes I've made, I once traded 250m worth of stuff to some random dude because the station guest list jumped around right as I right-clicked.
Now, when I'm trading in station with an alt, I initiate the trade from the receiving character. it's impossible to screw it up then.
I've developed similar little tricks in just about every aspect of trading to make sure I don't get burned by my own laziness.
Eve has developed a thoroughness in me that would never have been there before.

you got scammed, and there's not much you can do about it.
EXCEPT...
Find out who the seller was, and stick to him like glue. Gank him in empire, in lowsec, and in 0.0 - make his life a miserable hell for a few days. You'll most likely end up with some loot that's worth more than what he ripped you off for in the process.
Or you can just be a chump and make a forum post whining about it and nothing more. You've got that covered already, so why not try violence now ? good luck.

The person who gets the isk might not be a scammer, since the money goes to the cheapist person offering that item on the station. SO the guy trying to give you the most competitive price gets a fun surprise when he a small fortune in his wallet. --

When i went to click it showed the bottom ship next to this one as highlighted when i clicked ok it still show the bottom ship below this order as highlighted...when i checked the bank account it bought the top ship...So im completly confuzzled how that happened tbh
and what about the confirmation window that pops up with the purchase details? did you just habitually press OK without reading it?
if that window said a different price than what you paid, then it would be a genuine bug or exploit of some kind worth petitioning. ofc if you didn't read it there isn't much of a way to tell... ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |

100% over regional text goes to BOLD caps
200% or more over region extra box comes up asking if you are sure you want to do this.
1000% percent over Buy is not allowed to progress until a 30 second time frame goes by which the now bold box is looking at u with small words scrolling by saying..are YOU SURE
10,000% over buy is not allowed please report this seller to the international group of traders and a list is made of people that do it and they are Encouraged to engage is much better trade practices :)
No market controls please, being in a region with low trading of odd items is hard enough as it is. Warn me yes, but don't prevent anything, or else it will be impossible to get certain items due to no one being able to actually sell at a decent value.

Edited by: Siadyu on 21/05/2008 20:30:52 It's not a stupidity issue; it's a user interface issue. Can you imagine what would happen if any brokerage firm used the same interface for internal stock trades?
*The numbers are tiny
*The font is barely readable
*The rows/columns are numerous and unfilterable so that useless information is always there to obscure the useful
*The confirmation dialog boxes pop up so frequently that they become motor memory and are therefore completely useless for confirming anything. Even better, they are modal so you can't actually _see_ what you are supposed to be confirming.

I know stuff like this is perfectly legal in EvE, but maybe put in a warning message for buying stuff like you get when you put up a buy/sell order that's far below/above regional average...

it is just a second click if you are in a hurry. Support the introduction of well thought out Amarr solutions!

No, but if it's any consolation, the isk went to the guy with the lowest sell order and not the guy with the "click" order :) --

No, that warning only pops up when you're making an order. It should be put in there for the right click buy thing as well.

im still amazed at the amount of people who dont know how the market system in this game works
A 535,000,000 B 535,000.00 C 534,999.99
You click A by mistake, A gets NOTHING
C gets the money, and beleive it or not usually you will get your isk back.
If you dont, chalk it up to experience and move on.
Everyone else who is insulting this unlucky guy give him a break it could happen to you.

Everybody thats calls me names gets reported for not adding to topic content which heck is fun for me so please try to at least keep some manners around.
First im not whining merely wanted to know what i could do about it if anything and to get some advice from people that have had the same thing happen to them.
Second thier is nothing wrong with making a market more user friendly and I would say adding a second box if orders are 100% or more over regional average it should come up. This would solve the OOPS like some of us have done and at least make a person look at what they are doing again.
It is also proven and has been contested that the market interface 5 years ago was fine.. TBH I play lots of games that have better market interaces then eve in just the sheer aspect that they are easier to read. I think it neesds a revamp. Now i have gone in and used market filter which i hope will keep this from happening again but it does not take away from the rather complicated format it is set up in.
I had an idea about a month ago where a SEC STATUS number should be put by each system in the market to avoiding all the unnessary actions needed to find out if you are going to a low sec or 0.0 status area. CCP keeps complaning about to many processes and the need for speed then the more unnessary actions you take out of point click and data base access the smoother the game is for the player and the less work the CCP computers do...I think both of these are a win win for eve and DO not dumb it down but upgrade eve to an even better game. |

im not the guy ho sold it, but i know him and there is a small twist and abit fun story to it....
That bestower was bought by him part for 825 mil lmao (tired, semi drunk not paying attention)
Cause he got ****ed about it he put it up for 525 mil to regain abit of the losses....
he have now sold it to you...
so in total you got a bestower that have sold for 1.35 Bil
If a was you i would do the same, this bestower can end up being the "in total" the most expencive tech 1 non cap ship in eve history.....
Get over it it happens....i have bought a 19 mil shuttle once....****za do happens
