Hi guys and girls,
What would you all consider to be the 10 Must Do Things In EVE?
Do you consider one of them to be socialising with good friends in your Corporation or does your wicked side think it is better to befriend a Corporation and then pull off a successful Corp theft?
Are there areas of interest that are must see places?
Is the acquisition of billions of isk a must have goal?
I would be very interested to hear what you all consider the Top 10 Must Do Things

3- do pirate stuff
4- post on forum about your e-peen, and how sexy you are. 
5- get killed by a gatecamp, or blob, and complain on the forum about it.

2. Make your first podkill.
3. Get your first billion ISK.
4. Throw ISK away for buying a shiny faction ship you rarely fly.
5. Specialise in shiptype of choice.
6. Become a capital ship pilot.
7. Make your first 10 Billion ISK
8. Throw most of your ISK away by losing lots of Tech 2 ships.
9. Conquer your own space with your own corp and alliance.

I want so badly to contribute something to this thread, but right now it's late (4:30 am where I'm at) and I really couldn't say it any better than Deviana Sevidon said it. I agree with all 10 of these, and am grateful to have done 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 (I <3 Wolf-class Assault Ship) and 10 so far.

4. Be the only survivor
5. Scramble a stargate instead of the victim while gatecamping
6. Fly Goru's Shuttle
7. Listen to C&C song "Hell March" while in warp onto enemy fleet on teamspeak
8. Donate your own corpse to Azia
9. Contract the corpses of the once mighty enemy fleet back to them.

Was a perfect list until #10.
I'd add go to -10 and back at least once.
Some high sec hauler killing in there somewhere (say, you're first kill with loot worth over 15 billion or so).
In the old day's I'd say win your first T2 BPO in the lottery (I never involved myself in industry).
Run your first level 10 complex? Get your first hate mail? Crush your first alliance from the inside out? (done a few of those)

1. Getting killed in low sec, flying your best and only ship (preferably when it is still a frigate).
2. Getting killed by a can flipper, or suicide ganked, or killed by another player in a mission i high sec.
3. Getting killed and podded in a bubble camp.
4. Getting killed by friendly fire, due to inacurate standings.
5. Getting killed by CONCORD.
6. Learning from experience.
7. Killing your first other player.
8. Killing another player, and not lose your own ship.
9. Getting some friends and start a gang.
10. Kill your first noob in low sec.

1. Join a player corporation, the game is much more enjoyable when you're playing with other people.
2. Visit low sec, not every low sec system is camped by pirates and the rewards are plenty, whether you're a miner or a mission runner. If you do want to pirate, that's still true, plenty of naive and unprepared players wander through those gates!
3. PVP, it's great. Nothing in EVE will get your heart beating more than the risk of losing your ship to another player, or even better, destroying theirs!
4. Write an interesting back story for your character in your bio, you have post-it notes for damage types.
5. Kill an officer rat, and reap the rewards.
6. Fly a capital ship! There's something quite amazing about undocking in a carrier and having fighters swarm around you. Fly it in a fleet, support your squad, have them support you, capitals are not solopwnmobiles!
7. Train all learning skills to 5. Well, perhaps not Presence. It takes a while to pay back, but if you plan on sticking around it won't hurt to get them out of the way.
8. Use implants. Fill every slot you have, bump your learning attributes, increase your damage output, your mining yield, your shield recharge rate, just don't leave them sat empty.
9. Ask questions, talk to players in local, post on the forums, broaden your knowledge of the game and become better at what you do, then pass it on, help new players and fellow corporation members.
10. Move to 0.0 and live a little, there's more to EVE than shooting NPCs and mining veldspar.

1) Life begins at -10 , pirate people until you get there.
2) Smack in local a few times with some choice words.
3) Fly an inty and zoom around with it.
4) Fly a gank BS and melt people with it.
5) Scam a good chunk of ISK.
6) Find some cool gangmates to hook up with and build something in Eve.
7) Find a suitable nemesis or 2 and crush their dreams in Eve.
8) Fly around the galaxy , visit every corner of 0.0 while dodging blobs and bubblecamps.
9) Fail so hard you can't help laughing about it.
10) Accomplish a personal goal in Eve. You need to have at least one.

1: Low Sec Piracy, preferably in Frigates.
2: Do a large suicide frig \ cruiser gang in to a 0.0 camp hotspot.
3: Stealth bomber gang. Preferably enough to one-volley a Battleship.
4: No such thing as overkill.... use a capital ship to squish a Bantam, Navitas, etc.
5: Fly a Freighter. Absolute pure pain in its raw form.
6: Train Battleship 5. Much more painful than setting up a tower.
7: Set up a POS, so you can understand pain.
8: Fly in to a sun \ planet \ moon, far enough in to get ejected.
9: Stick around long enough to see an Armageddon Day or equivalent.
10: Form your own corp.
If I can add more than 10, for the heck of it:
11: Do some silly setups. Civilian mods on a Dreadnought, small projectiles on a Megathron, etc. And post them on the E-O forums and enjoy the responses.
12: After doing number 1, get some hate mail.
13: Fight at 5 to 1 odds not in your favor or worse and win.
14: Be the only sober guy in a large, drunk roaming gang.
15: Taunt a GM or Dev
Enjoy. I sure as hell have. Still working on 3, 4, 11, and 14, but everything else I've done and its been a blast

this isn't in any particular order and its main the stuff ive only really experienced myself
1) Kill someone in a bigger ship then you 1v1.
2) Then squish his pod.
3) Find the biggest veld roid in the region and then mine it till it pops (with friends would be preferred on ts/vent. )
4) Fly to the Eve Gate. 
5) Run a 50+ man gate camp with bubbles/fighters/recons on it and live.
6) Befriend someone who you will talk to for the rest of your eve life and possible become RL friends.
7) Make your first billion isk. 
8) Play eve for so long that you fall asleep at your pc while on an important fleet op. 
9) Enjoy the thrill of being outnumbered in pvp and still want to fight even if its likely you will die.
10) Become an eve celebrity....or at least meet one in game. |

Well the thread was created with the expectation that players would post with a list of things that they consider "must do" - mainly in terms of ideas that others would find enjoyable and fun 
Obviously we would never create content that was "must do" as that would go against the very nature of the New Eden Universe

Interesting topic.
My list of great memories from years ago...
1) Join a corp.
2) Get over your fear of voice chat. Get drunk on voice chat. Sing .
3) Go on a corp mining op (it's fun the first time ).
4) Visit Eve-Gate.
5) Blow up your first ore thief.
6) Make your first PVP kill. Try and do it without shaking so much you can't press any buttons.
7) Successfully ransom someone .
8) Reach -10 sec status, get a bounty (then cry when you realize how long it will take to get it back up again).
9) Kill a battleship in a very small gang of frigates.
10) Jump into a massive gate camp (live or die who cares).
Wow, I could go on a lot more than 10... didn't realise I had so many fond memories of the game .
Last one: Get Concordokkened.

I'm only 6 months old but here my thoughts on things one (I) 'must do'
('+' means goal achieved '-' means its still on the wish list)
1 - Go to EVE gate (-)
2 - Join a corp (+)
3 - Make my first PvP kill (-)
4 - Being able to solo lvl 4's (-)
5 - Make enough isk (see 4) to pay for my 2 chars with it through GTC (-)
6 - Get a third char (see 5) (-)
7 - Help noobs (+)
8 - Get Concordocked (+)
9 - Have fun in low or nul sec. (-)
10 - Turn on premium graphics under Mac OS X (-)

1) spend months of training for a specific ship and then have it nerfed
2) spend lots of isk on a specific ship and then have it nerfed
3) spend time training a skill to lvl5 and then have the reqs for the next skill reduced so you have a useless lvl5 skill
These are IMHO absolute MUST DOs. If you cannot handle the disappointment connected with these, Eve is probably the wrong game for you

The reason people play any game is to learn, whether it be about risky engagements or trades, learning about social interaction and working with others or whether it be putting yourself in someone else's point of view and trying to judge how they react, how they might feel and what they would do
Thus you must do at least one of the following to really get something out of the game:
1. Play an Amarrian or someone who doesn't conform to your personal beliefs IRL
2. Be involved in a corporation with teamwork, definite aims and direction
3. Get involved in a wide variety of activities and events
4. Be part of a community
The rest, like getting billions of isk, being uber at pvp or launching an outpost is simply a means to those ends, or an arbitrary end / goal to work for

1) Get concorded in a system on the gate to lowsec
2) Zoom around 0.0 in annoying T2 frigates
3) Loose a 250+ Mil ship within 15 mins after purchase
4) Smacktalk in local to players that outnumber you
5) Get in a big 100+ fleet battle (really amazing if you dont lag out)
6) Do a leroy jenkins on corp mates (prefferably in PF, always russians camping there)
7) Kill some missioners and take their mission objective with you.
8) Mine veldspar in a capital ship
9) Kill a hauler, leave the wreck alone, look at the killmail 1 hour later seeing it dropped 3 bil, race back and still get the loot.
10) Get everyone in your corp to make a caldari alt at the same place, gang up in the ibis' and roam through low-sec/0.0

Hm, my list must be in no particular order:
1. Do a mining op with friends.
2. Do a mission with friends.
3. Do a COSMOS mission.
4. Go to low sec and explore/rat/whatever.
5. Go in to no sec to explore/rat/whatever.
6. Do missions with the pirate factions.
7. Shoot at another player.
8. Try pirating.
9. Participate in faction warfare.
10. Visit the EVE gate

2. Find a good way to make ISK.
3. Participate in a war.
4. See 0.0 and stay there (with a corp) for at least a month to see what life there is like.
5. Answer some questions in the Newbie forum / help a newbie with a donation.

1. Learn how to buy and sell on the market
2. Get a beginner mining frigate and realize your warp drive doesn't get you to the asteroid belt in one warp.
3. Give 500K Isk to newbies you run into while mining, and see how fast they fly away to buy a new ship.
4. Get your first faction loot while ratting and realizing your net worth just doubled.
5. Realizing there is a lot of Isk to be made trading, and then discovering the joys/agony of Jita.
6. Becoming annoyed that the next level of skill takes 8 hours, not 3 or less to train.
7. Eventually accepting the fact that it will take 4+ weeks to train the skills you need to get to fly that ship you really, really, have to have.
8. Get ambushed enough times in low sec to realize there are better things to do in Eve than being pirate fodder.
9. Train alts to specialize in areas to support your main character, thus negating the need to be in three places at once.
10.Train in another races' ships and realize they're a lot more fun to fly than the ones your faction has.

1. Jump into a gate camp with a bunch of ôyellowsö and be unable to take the first shot because then you would take the security hit.
2. Jump into a gate camp with a battleship and be warp scrambled by a Noob Frigate.
3. Jump into a gate camp equipped with a Warp stabilizer on your battleship and be warp scrambled by two Noob Frigates.
4. Jump into a gate camp equipped with a battleship and be warp scrambled and webified by a Noob Frigate.
5. Jump into a massive gate camp and be warp scrambled and webified, MWD to the gate and break the lock of the webber with ECM, only then have the gate deny the jump because you had the audacity to defend yourself.
6. Jump into a gate camp and be unable to cloak only because you were locked before the cloak took effect.
7. Jump into a gate camp and cloak and have an interceptor cause you to de-cloak just because they got within 2 km of you.
8. Jump into a gate camp with a battleship and then cloak and spend the next half hour of your limited game playing time moving to get out of range because of the max velocity hit of the cloaking device.
9. Jump into a gate camp and then cloak, then spend the next half hour moving to get out of warp sramble range and then being unable to warp because the pirateÆs missile hits are ôBumpingö you out of alignment.
10. Learn to hate CCP game mechanics.

1. Pirate in lowsec. Alot. Not in a blob, but solo/in a small gang (well, sometimes in a blob, but only sometimes). All the other stuff here really isn't important.
2. Build your own stuff (ammo, ships etc.).
3. Invent your own T2 stuff when the time comes.
4. Make a carebear cry.
5. Run a mission/plex in lowsec (doing it in a frigate or T1 cruiser doesn't count, it has to be worth it to be scanned out).

1. See a Capital Ship Jump. Awesome effects and it never gets old :)
2. The Guristas had a hidden in-space agent in Vale of the Silent, sitting on Jove ruins - It is quite a sight. You need to probe him out though, but he is there in the E-8CSQ constellation.
3. Kill and loot an Amarrian npc convoy. Drink the wine and pop the slaver hounds.
4. Go to Amarr and start typing in local. Tell them their God is dead and the slaves are coming for them soon.
5. Kill a pirate (the capsuleer kind). Preferably an Amarrian one.
6. Take part in an event. I have been in this game for 5 years and this is still very much on my to do list.
7. Make it a point to see 0.0 space. You don't need to pander to the alliances, just go to a pirate region like Curse (Angels), Venal (Guristas), Fountain (Serpentis) or Stain (Sansha's Nation).
8. Kill an officer spawn. I've never seen one myself.
9. Watch a Gallente Holoreel (OK, this one is not possible yet but damn)
10. Have fun.

7: Ninja-salvage Caldari missions in high sec.
8: Realise that ninja-salvaging isn't actually profitable compared to any other career in Eve, and appeals only to those who drink tears.
9: Podkill the first person who ever podkilled you (everyone should do this eventually).
10: Fight a duel (or as many as you can find), wherein both pilots understand that if they fit ewar or warp away, they have lost.

1. Join a player corporation (only few npc corps have "real" human company)
2. Get some isk and learn how to fly ships, pew pew!
3. After #2 get to low sec or 0.0
4. Get a kill.
5. Get a pod kill, if not get another kill... and so on.
6. Now that you've got few kills and experience you've figured out what you want to do to get ISK to do what you want in EvE. Get into that for a while.
7. Market/Contract "scam". It's just too hilarious not to try.
8. Try piracy (meaning get your sec status way below -5.0). Just so you know how it is to be a REAL pirate, not some wannabe.
9. Try industry related stuff, were it POS mining, just roid mining or building stuff or invention.
10. Get a capital ship. You really want to have one, at least for your personal logistics.
I'm running out of options but there's my top 10. :(

1. Kill another none industrial ship with a Hauler. (e.g. no other haulers/hulks/shuttles/noobships)
2. See your wallet at 1 billion isk at some time or another.

6. Pod someone. (Seems very small thing but I can remember my first time podding someone and enjoy every single podding since)

8. Been involved in a fight while having a local count of at least 200. (Lag sucks but there is something so invigorating about a fleet fight.)
9. Lose a hauler/ship full of lots of precious things. (It sucks but without the fear of loss or the risk of losing everything the game would become boring, its no fun winning all the time, I mean if you can be guaranteed to win everything all the time then what's the point in trying?)

7. realixe that, even as you were podded during the course of #1, you still had alot of fun in EVE, and still are today.

5) KNOW that your first battleship really is gods gift to creation.
6) War dec a pirate corp
7) Lose your first cruiser (see #6)
8) Lose your first battleship (see #6)
9) Thank CCP for the change to war dec payments (see #6)
10) Just about everything else, killing NPCs, PC, losing sec status and being blinky red.
All in all, the one thing you HAVE to do in EVE is play with your friends and enjoy the game. Everything else is a bonus.

Oh, this is a tough one..
1) Stare in awe at all the pretty stars, just stare and appreciate.
2) Realize that New Eden is really, really big. Then go mine.
3) Do missions. Decide missions are pretty boring.
4) Join a player corp.
5) RP in player corp. Get RP'd by Star Fraction (it's painful)
6) Find a few friends, make a new corp with said friends (it's awesome)
7) Make ridiculous amounts of money on the market with minimal effort (visit Jita)
8) Pursue hairbrained plans to make even more money
9) Throw "might-work" ships together, attempt to PvP in them (this one's lots of fun)
10) Have fun, by any means you deem fit, within the EULA of course.
So it's more of a bio, but that's my personal top-ten.

Train your charachter for 3 years in order to be able to do the following:
1. Complete the tutorial.
2. Join a corp don't hesitate to switch untill you find one you like.
3. Mine in highsec/lowsec/nulsec.
4. Buy a BPO, research it, build from it, invent with it.
5. Trade (NPC commodities, buy/sell in single station, nulsec import/export).
6. Run missions in highsec/lowsec/nulsec.
7. Do exploration in highsec/lowsec/nulsec.
8. Rat in highsec/lowsec/nulsec.
9. Take pvp classes with Agony Unleashed.
10. Be a pirate.

In order of Priority:
- Establish corp Reputation. The kind I want Ioci Ex to be known for, IE: Antipie.
- Sov in a Sys. I never expect to accomplish this. Too much of Eve is about wrecking other peoples stuff, just because. I will some day try, just to say I had it if only for a day.
- Visit the Gate. Ioci did it, none of the other ones did. Ioci has no records of where she has been, they got wiped, often. But she was there.
- Be in an Alliance. Kind of coincides with other goals but in itself, it's an experience in the game everyone should try.
- Help a noob. Sounds kind of oddball but it's a nice thing. I gave a trial account character 400 mill once. (not a good example. most shouldn't go that high) That was 2 years ago. I saw him log in a few days ago. He still says Hi. You can figure out if they are alts or true noobs with the right questions.
- Suicide a Char in an expensive (to you) ship. It's less about killing people ships and more about letting people know you are willing to do it. It establishes your perspective on the game.
- Crack a Billion. Even if you spend it an hr later, just to say you did it.
- Mine 20 million Trit. Then you won't hate the farmers quite as much.
- Fight a Titan. You won't win. They are too well protected but being doomsday'ed is pretty cool.
- Quit eve, for at least 3 months. No dormant training, just quit. Let yourself know Eve is a choice hobby. Let CCP know Eve is a choice hobby. |
