I barely make enough isk per month to buy the 30 day GTC for 150 to 180 mill isk ... with this change if the isk prices go up very much I will be out of game. I live on Disability and isk purchase of GTC was the way I was able to play . This may remove me from eve permanently :(

It's nothing to do with CCP unfortunately, why blame them? Blame the dollar and business reality, even if it does suck. -------------------------------------------- [IMAGE REMOVED]

Not exactly. 30 days is $14.95. 60 days is 2 x $14.95 or $29.90.
New ETC/GTC price for 60 days is $34.99, a $5+ premium for the privilege of using etc/gtcs.

Which in the end will collapse GTC sales and cost EVE subscribers. With it being more than $5 more expensive to use a credit card rather than a GTC to play the game, why would anyone choose that? Of course there are those who CANT use a credit card, and for them the game just got a whole lot more expensive. Some of them undoubtedly will quit or reduce their number of accounts.
I fully expect they are about to raise the subscription fees by CC as well. If they do, they will be the FIRST mmo publisher to charge more than $14.95/month. I don't think they can get away with that.
My opinions are my own and do not reflect those of my corporation or alliance. |

Edited by: bestsnail on 22/05/2008 15:51:39 Who cares its just $5 thats like 1 gallon of gas. Just stop mowing the yard and dont buy that gas for the mower and you can play eve for a couple extra hours a month. Its a win-win situtation

Cause the products of the American education system have problems with long division.

why is everyone talking about the dollar? most people who play are from other parts of the world. in euro to play now costs for 1 char. 34.99 euro at one time. for two char's 69.98Ç. in US dollars thats the same as paying 109 US. Thats to much for many people on fixed incomes. Or even the normal people who need to pay other things. EVE was always expensive to play for people outside the US, now it's just moving out of reach. |

While I don't particularly agree with the logic of doing away with the 30/90 gtc's, the price increase isn't that bad, really. I mean (and yes, in american dollars), we're looking at a price increase of what, $0.10/day? Ten frickin cents per day? Three dollars per month, ish?
I can't count how many people I've heard say "AFK, pizza's here". Spare me. One less large pepporonni and you've paid for 6 months of price increase. And your relatively inactive lardasses will thank you.

Isn't that the price for Europe for a month as well, in Euros? There - we have been paying almost double what any American has been paying the last months due to the weak dollar. As usual.
Pwned?

The dollar might not be worth **** but I'm not getting paid any more of them and with gas going up and stuff... Why should CCP get more of them? :-p

I'm not paying more; just the people I've effectively been subsidising are now paying more.
Boo hoo.

Edited by: Flodarian on 22/05/2008 17:26:04 Yes, I can see you all hate AMERIKKA but you have to realize that about 40% of the players are from their. Thus 40% don't care that the dollar is down right now they just see them selves getting shafted and they know if and when the dollar comes back up time cards are not going to go back to what they were use to. This just ****es people off and has the chance to make tons of American's quit. That would rip a new hole in the price of characters. It would also tank the Timecard market because they would not be selling them for isk. This would mean that ccp would lose even more money because of this change as they lose subscribers and the 30% increase in timecards sure as hell won't help if they lose a ton of players.

Because the player base that uses the USD or is in a country that has it's currency tied to the USD is larger then the player base that uses the Euro.
