In the rare instances where your loot exceeds the Paladin + salvage destroyer, just make one more run in the Paladin.
Must have missed that part, yeah will have to deck out a salvaging ship, maybe a Exequror just for extra carrying room if I cant fit it all in.
Also, can you run Lv. 1/2 (Lv.3 you need a BS for I hear?) in a HAC? I don't fancy myself going back to T1 Frigs -_-
And to answer what I do now to make ISK, I rat drone rats in 0.0, one character in a Abaddon and one in a Mammoth. And only have to haul 7 jumps to cash in.
Again, thanks to everyone for all the help ^^.

1. Its one jump from my home station, so there almost no travel time. 2. N/a 3. See #2 4. See #1 5. See #2 6. System is dead empty, nobody ever goes in it...and when they do, safespotting for 5 mins solves it 7. Haven't lost a ship ratting...ever... 8. No ship lost = no shopping needed.
Off bounties alone, I make ~30m an hour...This isn't and optimal setup, I don't have fully T2, or a perfect -1.00 sec system to rat in...But I'm happy

Originally by: Bacon Monster Could I not just salvage as I go along with the Paladin? Guess using 3 tractor beams and a drone augmenter (do you even need those on missions?) would would better than 1 salvager really...
Salvaging as you go along is way too slow. You'll not even get the BS done before the mission is over. You get bonus to tractor beam range and speed. Use it!
Originally by: Bacon Monster How much M^3 of loot is there generally on a good Lv.4 mission per room? Would the 2 BS's and the salvager ship be able to hold enough to finish out a mission or would I have to make trips back and forth mid mission?
Most missions are less than a Marauder can hold, a few is more (the extravaganzas and merc missions especially). What I do with those is just to bookmark the place(s) where I've gathered all wrecks (loot in a jetcan). Then when I finish the mission I come back in a salvage ship and potentially a hauler if really needed. Since you'll already have a salvage character (3rd), just dock in system and finish the mission, then come back in the Marauder for the extra loot. Don't be afraid to ditch stuff like metal scraps and 800/400/200 cap charges if it saves you an extra trip. They're worth very little.

No artificial ship restrictions on any missions...
A HAC makes short work of L1/2's, but on L3's you may want a tier-2 BC or a CS for extra speed. BS on L3's are not all that efficient. L4's are BS/CS only unless you want a challenge

Edited by: Lykah Storm on 25/05/2008 09:16:43 You can make 40 M ISK per hour from L4 missions with following combos. Two accounts needed.
Paladin & Guardian combo - Both rep each other and the Guardian circles around the Paladin with AB on. Only disconnection can break this combo. It's just up to how fast you can handle targets while they're popping.
Golem & Basilisk combo - Same thing here.
And all this with T2 mods. But you must use mission specific tank. In some missions you have to have omni tank, but there you can play safe and not to take full stage agro. With mission specific tank you can take full stage agro always and just kick ass. Rats are melting.
You can choose that will the Marauder rep or give energy to the Logistic ship, play around with EFT and you will find fitting wich is good for you. I prefer that where Paladin gives energy to Guardians AB and MAR. But the Guardian is circling around the Paladin anyway and mostly they don't even agro it at all since Paladin takes the full stage agro.
And if you have three accounts, you could use two Paladins and one Guardian...
AB is good to have onboard on Paladin - you can go faster to gates and that's the only thing slowing on missions.
There isn't really tactic while using this combo. Just warp in, put Guardian orbiting the Paladin and take the full stage agro - shoot them all and warp off.

Then you're only earning 20m/hour per account. Makes more sense to run them separately and make 30m/hour on each.
If talking mission efficiency, the measure is isk/hour/account. You may be running missions fast, but not efficiently.

I'm pulling about 30-40 mil an hour in a solo faction Golem in an 0.6 system with a q18 agent. That's with bounties, rewards, LP (at 1,000isk per LP) and salvaged minerals (at Jita prices). I don't calculate named loot value or salvage into my calculations because it's too much hassle, so my ISK per hour is actually higher than what my calculations tell me... I tractor in cans as I kill targets and I only bother with cans that contain loot. Once all the rats are dead unless the cans are likely to contain decent loot I don't stick around.
Now, while I did say solo Golem, I do fly a hauler on a second account on missions that I know will have more than the Golems 1400m3 hold can handle (Damsel in Distress, etc). I try to avoid drone missions and some more crappy missions unless I'm stuck with a 4 hour timer in which case I just bend over and take it like a man.

Actually, a very few of pre-L3s I've flown had size 1 or 2 limited acceleration gates. It's a small inconvenience when you're there in your BC (and a handy reason to keep an Assault Ship handy). |

Thanks. Didn't know that.
I've always found it easier to do L1/2's in a HAC when needing to grind standings (so never tried a BC on them). The faster lock time of the HAC means that usually your targets are dead before you'd even finish locking them in a BC.

Some of the claims on this thread are pretty dubious to say the least...
In a 10-belt 0.0 system with 0.035 Truesec rating, I was getting around 4m-5m per tick (for a total of 12m-15m per hour) on fully chained 950k-1.25m BS spawns and it wasn't really possible to exceed this level because of the spawn rates. With loot included, I would have been making 20m per hour max.
The people making 50m+ an hour ratting in 0.0 must be farming 20-belt systems with -1.00 truesec rating and have sole access to the belts with no alliance members or reds to ruin their fun.

Did'nt you know? 0.0 below true sec -0.7 is crap. In translation it means that you will earn more isk/h in lower end hi sec grinding missions with pimped ride than you get chaining rats in that 0.0 with regular T2 ride. When you get below true sec -0.7 on the other hand it will be possible to earn better rewards than hi sec missionrunning, that is if you get to use the system in peace instead of having to camp some random gate or station somewhere to actually keep that system or having to share it with 5 other guys that were also there helping to defend it last time someone tried to take it from you.

The system I rat in is a Has a True Sec. of -0.8 and it supports about 5 people ratting.
50m+ a hour is very doable in any good 0.0 ^^. You can Make even more if you have Fighter Support and multiple accounts in different systems. To bad I need to go back to empire -_-;
The combo mentioned by Lykah Storm interests me a lot; thanks for the replies everyone.

I find that I typically make about 17-21m an hour when I mission. A lot of it depends on the missions you get. Some missions are more like 25m and hour and some closer to 15. Gone Beserk and The Assault are great, drone missions are sucky, as to get any reward at all you have to go salvage/loot. (I skip looting guristas & serpentis)
Also, a great deal depends on what you can sell your LP for. Bear in mind the market seems to be in constant decline.

That's like the ****tiest part of 0.0 ever. I'm surprised you earn as much as you do. All 0.0 with a sec rating higher than -0.7 is a waste of space as far as ratting goes, and needs a major overhaul. If you find good -.8, .9, etc systems, or pirate home bases like the venal area, you can rake in the cash.

Consider a railgun + sentry drone dominix for an alternate character. The DPS is quite good (comparable with a Paladin) and it has compatible damage types (on the drones, at least... but that's what counts) and is effective to an acceptable range.
