Hate to point this one out... but no one has ever said we're actually GETTING that. It's a feature for a fashion show. I have yet to see a date that CCP's paying customer's are actually going to get to use that... spiffy... catwalk.
Considering the poorly coded Incarna engine, I'd imagine it'd cause most people's computers to literally burst into flames. So for now, expect it to be used in that fashion show then tucked away from another two years until graphic technology catches up, or CCP fixes their code.

You have... err... seen the CURRENT version of the captain's quarters? Although to be honest it's less graphics tech... and more CCP's graphics code. Heck, that version of the avatar probably actually LOOKED like what the avatar was supposed to look like. I've got my station environments turned off... but I'm fairly certain my avatar didn't look like that. |

Actually... it just occured to me, I vaguely recall a CCP dev mentioning that their would be a high-end MT clothing option. Perhaps the $75 dollar monocle was only a mid-tier option. I could easily see a jacket like that going for over a thousand dollars, so perhaps CCP is going to add it to the NEX store for $150?
And heck, that tattoo could easily net them another $150. Forget that neither item look ANYTHING like anything else in-game at the moment. CCP's probably just too fired up over getting a 'srs fashion guy' to design stuff for them.
They'll probably toss the station environment though... too hard to code into the game. |

Hrmph GǪ if fashion designers can be lured to design for EVE's virtual item store, being paid commissions for sales, and people have the opportunity to flaunt their $2000 Gucchi virtual leather, I can see that CCP might actually end up making a lot of money.
Of course as a capsular, I look forward to the opportunity to blow them up and take their stuff. But CCP has denied us that so far

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this video. Alhough I have to notice once again that people in the future only wear black according to CCP.
These things are all nice, extra tatoos, interesting walkways/corridors. Lets hope the whole of incarna looks as polished as this although I think we will be dissapointed (as we have been so far).
The fact that fashion designers are helping making eve more fancy isn't a bad thing, the fact that FIS is taking a back seat for this is a bad thing. They need to go hand in hand.
A guy with a fancy skull-tattoo is impressive, lets hope CCP also realise that it will not be impressive if it is just bought with aurum, but can also be epic arc mission reward from the blood raiders (or something) - [yellow]English only please. Yes i do believe there has to be other options than your CQ/door and no ship spinning will never come back, but the game can never stay a niche game, if you want more content eve has to grow with both WIS and new content in space for ALL kind of players, both for hardcore pvp and/hardcore carebear( even the pony lovers need attention) and everything inbetween

but...
They should not take away from the dev teams working on EvE. The Art team is currently canabalized to work on WIS and junk aurum boots.
Aurum cloths and special items should be teams in addition to the FIS dev's. We should nto have to sacrafice FIS for boots. The new team should be funded by Aurum..Boots cost $ to design, so they cost aurum.

The concept of Incarna is great. I remember, years ago, getting all fired up about "Ambulation." The trick is leaving microtransactions out of it entirely and making sure that the bulk of EVE's dev time is spent on the actual spaceships that the game stars. CCP, do you remember that this future is a cold harsh place? Right? You remember that? Because that was not cold and harsh. That was flamboyantly uncool. You look like complete buffoons. You have forgotten where you came from. Fashion catwalks belong, AT BEST, in the background of Eve. We can assume they exist, because people need clothing. We do not need them shoved in our face.

Considering the poorly coded Incarna engine, I'd imagine it'd cause most people's computers to literally burst into flames. So for now, expect it to be used in that fashion show then tucked away from another two years until graphic technology catches up, or CCP fixes their code.

Does seem the whole point of that video is something to do with a fashion show, its not part of the game.

I seriously doubt there's going to be a "fashion show" in Incarna, that's probably just a fashion animation to help the designer.
My biggest problem with the clothing and stuff is that it lacks the imagination, playfulness and flair that characterized the pre-Carbon EVE designs.
It's all so bloody generic now. Generic movie s-f, generic GAP, generic Gay Bikers In Space.
I bet they just asked that lady to look at s-f movies and combine the best bits.
Bad mistake.
What they should have done was ask her "what do you think a lost s-f civilization thousands of years from now would be wearing?" |

Well, the page says:
"Formichetti's inspiring design has been fully realized into the virtual setting of EVE Online on a virtual avatar copy of signature model Rick Genest (AKA Rico the Zombie Boy) by the artists, programmers and animators at CCP Games using their own industry-leading technology."
Sounds kinda conflicting. Mhh, I wonder how these art fellows who probably have never touched a computer other than a macintosh can use your technology - just like that. Without any work involved by your own guys. Impressive.

The point is that people in this thread are complaining exactly about that - EVE developers being used for show-off projects outside of eve. The GM's post made it look like that didn't actually happen. So my post is spot on. |

Learn to read.
Explaining the lack of new Eve content by telling us the art team was overstretched because everyone is working on WoD, Dust, Incarna and NeX and then seeing them allocating ressources to produce a virtual fashion show for some gross designer and his freak-model just adds insult to injury.

Personally, I like to see them working on fleshing out the world of Eve. For Eve's lifespan, the universe it's been set in has existed only in the realm of fan fiction posted on their site. It's never once been really represented in game. What most people fail to realize about goofy bullshit like this is that it's a stepping stone to further fleshing out of the world in which Eve takes place. They're giving stuff that takes place in the Eve universe but was never seen before a physical representation.
For the years I've been playing, development delays have been AT THE ABSOLUTE WORST minor inconveniences. Yeah, CCP has fallen short of their goals in the past, but I'm still having fun with Eve, and it's still trundling along as they develop their tech. People need to stop getting their dicks tied in knots of little, mostly inconsequential things.
Eve is, at this point, the single most interesting and unique MMO on the market. I'm willing to let them ride on that for a good long while. |

Genest grew up in Ch+óteauguay, a suburb of Montreal. According to his mother he waited, out of respect for her and his father, until the age of 16 to get his first tattoo. He then left home at 17 after graduating from high school, but it was not until the age of 21 that he would first come to Montreal tattoo artist Frank Lewis, since then responsible for inking the majority the designs on his body, which they create together.
This has taken over three years, Genest spending thousands of dollars on the artwork, conceived by him to be "about the human body as a decomposing corpse GÇô the art of a rotting cadaver.", and "also a tribute to horror movies", a favourite genre of his. He would become popular in Montreal's "underground scene", but struggled for money and eventually found himself homeless. |
