If they change leaderships of these corps to other npc just because of their bloodline being absent... wouldnt that be the perfect example of racism anyway?

Originally by: 5pinDizzy Edited by: 5pinDizzy on 27/05/2008 16:06:15 This reminds of of all the politically correct tripe I've seen in real life, where things like shows are scared if their audiences aren't culturally diverse enough and they might be branded racists.
Everything that possibly involves an attendance of random members of the population has apparently got to have a reflective percentage of accuratetely dispersed ethnic diversity in their group based on the number ratios of the entire population.
Apparently if this doesn't happen its racist, never mind a chance that such and such a person who has such and such an ethnic origin decided to do/go somewhere else instead at the time etc...
To me it makes about as much sense as calling a coin racist if it keeps flipping heads mostly (by chance) instead of heads tails heads tails.
If anything I would call even bringing such a thing up as racist in my own way of thinking, as to highlight the differences between people rather then just accepting them all as human beings.
Overkill ftw.
How did you even made the connection between the two scenerios?
I failed at not knowing that certain races were added later after the Backstory were already in place, and that's the reason i got flame/laugh at.
But imagine IF that's not the case, what kinda impression that would give you?? the same kinda impression it would give for any new players who're interested enough in lore and RP (those joined after they added the new races), which are:
Why're 4bloodlines missing in over 170 corps? Why aren't there a Khanid in Khanid Kingdom corps? (how do you make the connection to what you said in your post?)
So, 2 things 5pinDizzy, don't mix them up. if i got flamed for stupidly assuming something on such a sensitive subject without further research, i take the full blame for it, it was me being stupid and not knowing. But if i got flamed for defining what is or should be consider racism then you got the wrong target, I never started that topic, you did.
asking why there isn't one single Khanid in all the Khanid corps isn't the same as your 'real life show attendance vs ratio of race etc etc.' I agree about how tiresom and annoying it is to be '100% politically correct' in rl. But some people are just as sensitive about not being '100% politically correct' as those on the opposite end of the spectrum.
The content of my original post hasn't change, what has changed is the before and after knowing the fact that those races were added later.
Before knowing it - it's an issue to be discussed After knowing it - it slaves all the questions, hence the issue doesn't exist anymore.
Seems like some people here can't get a grip of that and move on. I wonder what the real issue is.

No worries! When CCP introduces factional warfare you will get it! Trust CCP to provide tools for exterminations! Because I am really looking forward seeing the ethnic cleancing of the vile Caldari. They need some treatment!

As much as I think it's a ridiculous concept in real life, faction-based (or race-based, lets not sugar coat it) conflict works well in a MMO setting. It provides context or conflict in a PVP setting that's easy to develop your balancing for combat mechanics as well as your background lore to support it.
As long as people don't take it too seriously, things are fine. There are plenty of real life examples of where things go wrong, of course. But this is a game.
*ponders* Though one could say the same thing about football (soccer for the yanks), where every game is like world war 3, but ... :)

talk about looking for controversy, looking to be offended.
and no, ignorance of the game is not an excuse. It means whomever got so offended that they needed post about how offensive this seems to them didn't do their homework.
Do I personally care enough that I would be assuaged were CCP to rectify this alleged grievance? Nope.
I mean really... you get offended over the lack of "Asian-bloodline" fictional characters in CEO positions, but make no remark of the institutionalized fictional slavery on the part of the Amarr Empire?

Methinks the OP doth protest too much.

Talking about "political correctness with respect to racism" in an Internet spaceships game dealing with racism/slavery/exploitation in its initial fluff is a bit over the top and bordering on silly.
c/d ?

Hm, can't we just get rid of the Achura first? The Autonomous Khanid Movement(AKM) needs some time to prepare. Looking at the current market in Khanid half the ships would have to go for suicide ramming...

Edited by: Winterblink on 27/05/2008 19:08:00 You know.. perhaps this raises an interesting point about the dynamicism of the NPC corps and how they never change.
Ignoring the racism issue for a moment, the CEOs of corps never change. Agents never change, they never get promoted, change companies, etc. Wouldn't it be interesting if a lower level agent got promoted, and suddenly that standing you had with them could be applied immediately to higher level missions for instance?
Sure it may end up being that you now have a totally new agent to work with in place of the old one, but this kind of thing can happen in real life. For example, the person you go to get your hair cut moves and you get stuck with someone who you don't know, or forced to seek out a better person.
Corporation-level storyline plots for industry types could be worked up in the ongoing story as well. Say, a business section on the PNC for these types of situations. Could be automated as well, listing upcoming shifts in positions. Some NPCs could quit their positions entirely and new ones could come in from other organizations. Bringing it back to the thread topic, new agents can come from any of the current races and move up the ranks.
Logic for the moves? How successful and agent is (mission success from players who work for them) get them promoted faster, maybe? Where they end up might be a way to disperse mission hubs in a dynamic sense which fits in an RP sense.

Wow how much time did you spent on editing and quoting?
You tried too hard bashing on an easy target. You tried too hard making a point that has already been made for 50+ times before you. You simply repeat the same crap and tried to present it in a different way, one you think will make you appear smarter than the others. You seem very good at nothing but recycling the same crap and feed on it, do you eat your own crap by any chance?
If i am idiot for Not knowing the history of eve data updates, then you're a waste of oxygen, notice that only thing you manage to type is a '?'
I hope by continuing bashing me, everyone can get little sense of self worth at least then my OP isn't completely useless :)
