Reading over the list of candidates for CSM 7 has brought a few sad truths about EVE to light, for me at least. Year after year, CCP brings little innovation to the players in high-security space. Year after year, new players quit EVE after 14 days of feeling lost and alone. Year after year, the divide between null-sec and high-sec grows deeper. Year after year, CCP and the CSM fail to address these issues.
Sure, we've seen the introduction of Incursions, but they remain unpopular and economically irrelevant. New starter ship models are on the way, but ship models are entirely superficial. I have an idea that will help tackle the roots of these perennial issues, as well as addressing the sky-high price of minerals.
I introduce... the ORE Supercapital Industrial Command SuperShip! In keeping with ORE's cetacean nomenclature, let's call it the Physeter. It is the largest ship to grace New Eden's skies (with the exception of the Titan), and has a corporate hangar to match! I suggest around 1,000,000 m3 (this may sound like a lot, but in fact it is barely enough to hold a packaged freighter). Futhermore it will have a large ship maintenance bay, and unlike the Rorqual it is capable of ferrying battleships (so long as their highslots are filled with Miners; I don't know if EVE's code can test for this, so we might have to rely on an honour system).
Like most capital ships, the Physeter relies on a jump drive to travel. Unlike most capitals, it can jump into high-security space! ORE's patented CynosOREal Field Generator can be lit in any of New Eden's many asteroid belts, allowing the capital ship to jump directly there. It is here that the Physeter offers a game-changing introduction to EVE for new pilots. After landing, the pilot can recruit new players for mining ops by targeting a mining frigate (a Navitas, for example) and activating their Capital Recruitment Beam.
Once the frigate has been safely stowed in the capital's maintenance bay, the Physeter can jump back to low- or null-security space, and present these new pilots with the opportunity to get used to unsafe space, while mining rare and valuable asteroids with experienced players! The mined ore can be stored in the Physeter's cargo bay until it returns to high-sec. (Obviously, null-sec is a very dangerous place, so to keep the frigates safely close at hand their warp drives will be disabled until the Capital Recruitment Beam is switched off.)
I think the Physeter SuperShip offers great new opportunities to all pilots, regardless of the security status of their home system - the kind of innovation EVE desperately needs. And it will help introduce new pilots to EVE like no tutorial ever could. |

I personally have introduced dozens of players to the game via my youtube channel, (with videos like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0M7jkv3xkQ ) - I give them buddy invites and a nice big introduction with plenty of pointers on what's worth doing.
And you know the strongest indicator of whether a new player upgrades or not is? If I can get them to join Red vs Blue then they always sign up, it's simultaneously wonderful and sad that the best that hi-sec has to offer is a player created war event.
I believe that there's plenty of room for new PVE content in Eve, but I would argue that the developers should consider making mission authoring something that players can contribute, allow players to design missions, run them on singularity and then after a peer review process maybe the make it into the game. We don't need fancy mission building tools, just a script file that can be authored by players with the correct documentation. Skye Aurora is a 7 year old Girl Who Wants to be on the CSM! I wondered where the hell you were going there; but actually there is a germ of a good idea there. Although I shudder to think of what use our friendly Goons would put it too.
What might be better would be capitial cruise liners that ferry pod pilots (and their goods) from Hi Sec to Null sec. Would allow small scale WiS while on the crusie liner too; may be with a casino bar too :) |

Getting CCP to deal with high sec and missions when all their buds are null sec cheauvenists? Good luck with that. True, there's plenty of good that can be engineered, but they'd die rather than face the ridicule of their null sec bedfellows. For such an open-ended "sandbox", they sure are narrow-minded keepers. Just further proves the decline of western civilization is directly related to the reduction of frontal lobe activity. Don't fight it.-á Rejoin your Amarrian patriarchs.-á You know you want to. |

I certainly couldn't take it seriously so either way we got a laugh out of it. WoW holds your hand until end game, and gives you a cookie whether you win or lose. EVE not only takes your cookie, but laughs at you for bringing one in the first place... |

The sad truth is EVE is dying a slow death. Zero space sucks. ( Standing guard for hours on end blobbing wars yuck. ) Low is freaking joke!! Risk 200 million for Jaspet??? really??? No one wants to acknowlege the 800 pound gorrila in the room. 66% of the players are simply happy in high Sec. I am !! Why eve refuses to expand the universe is beyond me. High sec should expand into low sec. Low sec into zero space. Zero space into the new frontiers of unkown space. CCP must do something to stop the boredom!!
Eve simply needs to create 5 new missions a month. They need to expand the universe. I like slow quiet areas to mine and enjoy myself with friends on Teamspeak. Hell I play this game to enjoy myself and relax. I never understand the concept of I need to ISK ISK ISK now now now to plex their account. ( I have seen some players log 80 hours of painful mine/mssion to come with plex money, sad! ) Also I am certain PLEX cards gives good reason to create Ratting and mining BOTs, without PLEXCARDS ISK many BOT players would go away reducing congestion.
THE CSM is just plain Silly. It was created when CCP had a bad employee to bring trust back to EVE. Frankly if CCP cannot provide a good product. I ( Along with others ) will simply stop buying game time. ( Yes I use REAL MONEY to pay for EVE!! ) Having a CSM that promotes their obvious personal causes is wasteful and zaps the abilty of CCP to make quick and useful plans. The CSM costs airfare, donuts, lodging to CCP that is passed on to the players. it is not cheap to house the CSM for these meetings?? Hell the CCP CEO saved me from quiting when he sent that heart felt letter saying he and CCP screwed up via whole Pants/monoculu fiasco. It was not the CSM that saved us from playing with virtual SPACE BARBIE DOLLS it was the solo player who canceled their account and the JITA/AMARR riots!!! CCP are the same people who created this great game. Not the blasted CSM!!!!! Lets stand back, cut the red tape via the CSM, and let CCP get to work. If they screw up, well my lawn will look much better becasue I will have quit the game. |

Please do some research first before posting incorrect statements.
Referring to WiS as 'playing with virtual Space Barbie Dolls' is reminiscent of an adolescent mentality. WiS was not the reason for the mass unsubs.
The Incarna Expansion failed to deliver the WiS that was promised years ago known as Ambulation. The resulting lack of content in the Incarna Expansion was the catalyst which combined with resulting events and previous in-game problems ended up being 'The straw that broke the Camel's back'.
Those mass unsubs were due to a lot of different things listed here in no particular order.
The 1001 Papercuts thread - large list of various broken game mechanics and unfinished content since 2003. Numerous expansions constantly being rushed out 1/2 finished and bugged breaking existing content. CCP introducing NEX Store and MT - selling overpriced items for real money bypassing player production. Threat of 'Gold Ammo' and 'Gold Ships' enabling 'Pay to Win' exploitation. CCP dividing development resources working on 3 different projects at same time. The leaked memo 'Fearless Newsletter' - Greed is good. CCP statement of Eve Online viewed as the Golden Goose. Forcing 3rd party programs to pay real money for providing Eve Online applications. CCP failure to maintain promise of 'Commitment to Excellence'. Showing players 'The Door' and removing option of choice, forced participation. CCP attempting to diffuse the situation with excessive thread locking and banned accounts. Lack of communication resulting in poor Public Relations due to ignoring the player base. Releasing poorly written unoptimized code in a major expansion resulting in client side issues. Hilmar's statement - "Watch what they do, not what they say."
Basically Hilmar's statement became the rally cry for the mass unsubs.
Those unsubs combined with a large loan payment being due and bad press resulted in CCP downsizing and placing some of their other projects on the back burner for a while. CCP's 'change of direction' to concentrate on the many issues plaguing Eve has been long overdue which the game desperately needed. While it definitely helped bolster CCP's falling reputation with the player base, it was probably more of a 'knee-jerk' reaction to the whole situation. |

Orca, Incursions, concord response times, Epic Arcs, new exploration sites... You're right! CCP is completely ignoring highsec!
I really hope ccp notices the highsec kids who whine and moan for changes and dont notice the changes when they get them
