Currently, if you double-click the entry (avatar/name) of another pilot in any chat channel EVE automatically tries to create a private conversation. Frequently (mostly?) this is not what is intended as most times pilots are wanting to view the "show info" on that pilot (may be a red coming into system, whatever) and the last thing you might want to do is talk to them and attract their attention!
I propose that an option is added to the [ESC] menu, allowing the pilot to select the default action that should occur when someone is double-clicked.
Options to be:
* Start conversation (as current)
* Show info

Its very embarassing in some cases, especially if you just opened up a private conversation with someone else, and start talking to the complete stranger.
Not that I've ever done that. Uh. Nope.

Excelent suggestion, and I Support this, as long as it also applies the the evemail interface!
Clicking people in corp mail to render their avatars also sometimes ends up with doubleclicks and unintended convos.

Seeing a comment on a different thread reminded me that originally I'd intended there to be three options; Head post changed to reflect this. Posts above this will not have seen the third option but I believe would still support it as it is an additional option not a replacement.

Doubleclicking a chat-window avatar should only ever produce a "show info".
