As many of you know isnurg was robbed of around 90 bill assets this week, including a set of Mom components id just like to issue the following:
the story itself was i was a leader within insurgency for over 6 months, i had been on every op either running a op or helping run one in another form, i was well trusted and was one of the very few with high command acsess, over the last few months insurgency was fighting in branch for the northern stations there. this inluded our main base of operations qcwa-
long story short we lost qcwa almost 3 weeks ago and we needed a plan to evacuate the 100's of billions of isk and assets from the stations, originaly we cleared most of it out within the first few nights via jumpfreighters and capitals., a second plan was made by myself to evacuate assets with a freighter/carrier alt within pure.
my alt got into qcwa and was set to move stuff, my original intention was to remove around 20 peoples stuff from qcwa and back to our old home. i must state: I HAD NEVER RELEASED INTEL TO ANY ENEMY OF INSURGENCY. I STILL LOVE THEM FOR WHAT THEY HAVE DONE THE LAST 6 MONTHS, I ALWAYS WILL. I DID NO PLAN TO STEAL ASSETS FROM ANYONE UNTILL:
darth spoke to myself and i offerd to get it all out, he sent a alaince mail to contract me 1 bs each and there major assets. i log for the night,
the following morning i log in click contracts expexting only a few contracts, when to my surprise 143 contracts assigned, i open a few up and realise theres alot of isk to be transported, i carirerd on sorting the evac for a few more daysuntill i realised how much i had,
and the rest is history i guess
my apologies, i really didnt want to do it because of you guys, but all the moaning in leadership the last week just pushed me over the edge
mainly my first appologie is to dacovale, this guy, a awesome fc may i add, was the worst for me to think about. i kept thinking whats dacovale gonna think? so sorry mate i just cant explain it :(
second is mainly my corp, especialy girly'girl+ errica, ive flown with you for a long time, girly'girl, from when you first joined the game infact. you are the only two people i want contact with, you know how to get me.
a few others are, alex logan, darth solo himself, agmar. so sorry, darth, dont let anyone blame you for this its not your fault. you trusted me and you were brutally betrayed.
tbh, looking at it now, thats all the people i cared about in the alliance, doesnt seem like a lot, but those few kept me playing eve for 15 hours a day.
to the rest of insurgency, i wish you the best of luck in the future.

drop me a evemail if u need transport to empire of the stuff. 5b isk and it is done. can provide colateral if ya want. have access to every ex failsurgency station. can carry out full freighter loads (cause failsurgency fails so much that u can easilie travel around in a freighter up in theri lost space) or express service via rorqual.

Either way you look at it, the blame lies with Darth Solo. Responsibility is ultimately his. He allowed the thief to be in position to steal. HeÆs the man at the top and he gave orders to contract his members stuff away AFTER he failed to get his corporations assets out. Stations donÆt fall in a day, you know. Epic fail.
As for Lies, Darth always was a fictional writer, but in his defense, IÆm sure he believes every word that comes out of his mouth.

To bad to see my friends in Insurgency getting robbed, but this is something that almost always happens when an alliance faces a major crisis.
I do support corp theft however, it's a part of the game, and nobody held a gun to the head of the players that contracted their assets to Jotram. They did it out of free will, fully understanding the consequences, and now they just have to deal with it. Some of them might even quit the game over this, understandably, but then again if you don't want to get robbed, don't give out your stuff to people you don't know in real life.
That being said, I sincerely hope this is not the end for the Insurgency tale, a truely great alliance is one that can overcome all difficulties, no matter what the EvE universe throws at you.

Hey Jotram.
I have to say I'm pretty stunned. You put so much into insrg and you've pretty much just destroyed all the good work that you did. I'm saddened that you chose to do this. It's not something I would've expected but then meh, I guess that's teh interwebzors.
Unlike many people who will post, I personally lost nothing although I suspect you've ripped a good many of my corp mates off.
I'm sure there's a queue of cowards, bootlickers and lickspittles who are loving this drama. I hope it makes you happy - I include the two insrg spies in this. You're both parasites, at least jotram had the balls to do something with his main, no matter how reprehensible it is.
Contract it back mate - if you really love the alliance - return what you took - or as much of it as is left.

Jotram, i do not know you but i suggest you create contracts of the stuff back to the owners.
You'll loose a bit of isk setting up the contracts but it is good for the karma. Some will forgive, many wont but . . . <<shrug>>

The fact you scammed lots of people in the alliance you'd probably not spoken with much is, well, underhand, but legitimate gameplay. Corp thefts are a fact of life in eve. Bad you, but frankly who cares, it happens all the time.
However, what I and many others cannot understand, is how you can betray the trust of people you did care about, people you spoke to on voice, and considered friends. Aside from the whole pixels and internet spaceship b*ll****, you hurt people who cared about you as a person.
How you, as a human being who happens to plays an internet spaceship game, can do that I simply don't understand. Those people were your friends, they would have no doubt met you for drinks and been RL buddies as I have to many within my corp... and you have betrayed trust on a very human level for the sake of a few virtual pixel currencies.
It is very sad, and I hope you can see where I am coming from.

You're confusing me with someone who ran the IPO's and had access to the wallets, I didn't (and I thought they'd been paid back anyway, but either way, nothing to do with me).
I ran ISSN, I had nothing to do with ISS finances as an alliance.

You are, of course, technically correct in what you say.
How many real life friends did you make playing a standard single-player videogames? None, of course. But this is an MMO people play together for years. There is real life crossover through voice comms, meeting for drinks, fanfest, etc.
I consider myself fairly well adjusted, an active RL social life etc, but even I who was very sceptical about MMO's a few years ago, have made people I would call friends through EVE. That is the issue at hand. And its a human issue, nothing to do with the 1's and 0's of the transactional elements of the game.

You are, of course, technically correct in what you say.
How many real life friends did you make playing a standard single-player videogames? None, of course. But this is an MMO people play together for years. There is real life crossover through voice comms, meeting for drinks, fanfest, etc.

At the end of the day you will one day leave this game and you can either move on to another one with mates you have made from this (little chance of that now), or if nothing else just look back at the vids and stuff and remember how much fun it was or you can look back and think, "wow, i really was a bit of a tosser to all those people".
Sure for goons like Cippa the fun for them is in the griefing and thats fine if thats what floats your boat but that doesnt seem to be the case for you o/w you would post in priates section with a lol lok what i did loozers post (and you would probably have an alt called d34thst4bb3r or something).
Having **** tons of isk in eve doesnt make it fun, only the corp mates and friends you make do that.

1) What would have made this better would have been a thread stating that the corp theft threads were actually fake posts to get everyone to *think* you had stolen 90B, when the reality was you just wanted to join PURE to get the stuff moved to empire before rejoining Failsurge... with Laughter all around at NC for letting that much ISK slip through their hands.
2) For that reason, hopefully PURE wanted some sort of payment to ensure that you weren't just trying to move Failsuge stuff to empire.
3) If you really feel guilty about taking so much ISK, you are welcome to send me a bit. I'll even post that you stole stuff (or didn't steal stuff, your choice) if you want. |

Greed and opportunism has its limits. At some point, people realize you only care about pixels, and it ceases being worthwhile to even associate with you. At the ultimate end, like what Jotram did, its character suicide.
Unfortunately, the worst people can do to him is smack and hope his conscience screws him. But if you have no particular attachment to your char its an undeniably powerful move. You can still sell for full price and start over in EVE with another equivalent one, without ever tapping into all those gains.
Most of the time, people who do stuff like this are motivated by boredom and frustration with EVE. People don't know how to "fix" it except by burning all bridges and either starting over in a new crowd or quitting altogether.
**** happens, and this is partly why EVE is so badass. There's no meaning in any of the good stuff if you have none of the bad stuff.
I really don't think Insurgency's enemies should be crowing over stuff like this (not pointing fingers), because it could happen to them just as easily. Still, darth solo screwed up on an epic level. I don't think he was involved by a far margin, but it would've been a lot less pathetic if he was.

Dude, there is a huge difference between a guy like Istvaan and Jotram and what they just did. Besides there was alot of time invested, real time in order to produce those assets. So in the end people may have lost money, but at the end of the day the efforts were taken from them.
And not because he was hired to sabotage anything, or had worked with that intention all along. He just did it on a whim, and actually apologised for it(doesnt make it any better, but still).
And yeah its just a game, where scamming is legal, so trust involves risk. Thats how it works. I personally wouldnt have trusted him with anything at all had i still been in insurgency, but just because its allowed by the rules doesnt mean its a good thing to abuse friendly relations with other people.

Theft - well played frankly, aquiring an easy 90bil by any means is win. That's EVE.
However Jotram, your post here is pathetic, I'd have had far more respect if you'd been cold about it. If you were just frustrated with INSRG leadership and actually cared about the individual players you've screwed, you'd have made an effort to return individual assets or ISK and kept corp and alliance assets. I personally play this game to grief people as it is funny as hell, seeing as apart from seal clubbing there aren't any equally funny professions available in real life. The game has been proven to be a harsh environment just how many times now?..

As for the ton of isk the guy got - well, don't fly what you can't afford to lose and don't contract stuff you can't afford losing. Times like these show the ridiculousness of e-honour well and just how the game _is_ a sandbox.

I wonder just how many of the people shouting here would be tempted to pocket the 90b if handed to them. I would say quite a few including myself. Its ridiculous to hand someone 90billion in assets and not have the foresight to see that maybe it will cross their mind to steal the gear.
How many times have we seen the victims of theft shouting "man we trusted him, we knew him for years". If you had 90million sitting in a bank account, would you give your bestest friend in the whole world your bank card and pin number?? Of course not and if you did you would be an idiot, so why do it in a game where there are no legal repercussions for theft.
Moral of the story, don't put all your of eggs in one fools basket, if you need to contract tens of billions worth of stuff do it in small batches and wait till you get the first load back before you give them the next. Easy to say in hindsight I know, but these lessons should have been learned by now. You can only blame the thief a certain amount.

having space is nice, it was a nice feeling but at the end of the day we took it by accident and losing it was never a biggie. of course, some people lost assets and such there (which resulted in this) but the fights the stations brought were more important than holding the stations.

Dude, there is a huge difference between a guy like Istvaan and Jotram and what they just did. Besides there was alot of time invested, real time in order to produce those assets. So in the end people may have lost money, but at the end of the day the efforts were taken from them.
And not because he was hired to sabotage anything, or had worked with that intention all along. He just did it on a whim, and actually apologised for it(doesnt make it any better, but still).
And yeah its just a game, where scamming is legal, so trust involves risk. Thats how it works. I personally wouldnt have trusted him with anything at all had i still been in insurgency, but just because its allowed by the rules doesnt mean its a good thing to abuse friendly relations with other people.
Actually the only real difference between him and istvan/GHSC is a fictional story (which was an awsome read btw) and a some spin

Honestly as low as the RL person behind the Jotram character is, I cannot feel sorry for Insurgency. Sometimes you play the meta game and you win and sometimes you play the meta game and you lose. Insurgency had a clear meta game victory when the nailed the Razor titan. From what I have read the 90B loss was the result of trying to sneak someone into Pure so they could get their loot out. The ploy ended up enlisting a person who is morally deficient which in turn lead to it backfiring.
Though there were some failures here none were major.
You cannot blame Darth, the person behind the Jotram was trusted, had been playing with the group for some time. I would guess that Jotram had plenty of opportunities to steal before though never so much. Having a long standing relationship did Darth have any reason to distrust him? (conclusion failure minimal)
You could say they could have gotten their stuff out before it was too late. I am certain though that most of the Insurgency folks really fought until it was too late to safely move things out. It seem to me at least in the Branch campaign that there was stiff resistance from Trisurgency up until Tri decided to attack Vale. Shortly after that resistance broke and there was a rapid collapse. Who can honestly blame them for putting up a good fight? (conclusion failure minimal)
They could have put their stuff up for sale. They probably would have been better off. But with a viable ploy to get stuff of Branch who can blame them for giving it a try? not me. (conclusion failure minimal)
In the end they gambled on the meta game and loss. I am sure it sucks but they had to know there was some risk. Honestly the only real failure is the person behind Jotram.
I expect to see the Jotram account on market soon at a reasonable price. Though he might buy himself a new uber pilot with lots of SP and have tons of ISK to spare, he will still suck as a person and he knows it (as apparent from his "sorry guys" postings).
*NOTE* When I use meta gaming in my post I am using it in a loose sense. I am sure there are people out there who would argue that spies and the like are all part of the game.

Heh, Insurgency still talking about a four week old titan kill. Probably the only reason they haven't gone into full-blown cascade, yet.
Neither the titan kill or Jotram's theft are metagaming. Metagaming is not a word meaning "things which meany-pants do", it actually has boundaries of behaviour that describe it.
Taking down someone's TS server, or using a hack or exploit to infilitrate OOG forums are clear examples of metagaming.
Fuzzier instances of metagaming would be that BACON program, which abuses the logserver to allow idlers to instantly report their local chats to anyone who wants to know, or the BoB titan kill against D2, which used aggression mechanics in the most unintended way imaginable.
Metagaming can be simply described as using OOG systems or exploiting ingame mechanics to achieve an advantage. And really, exploiting ingame mechanics isn't even always true, there are shades of grey, there.
Corp theft and using spies to decloak things are not, by any stretch of the meaning, metagaming. They are accepted, they are known, they have been repeatedly reinforced by statements from CCP staff. They all have ways to prevent it from happening. Jotram didn't reach into your hangars and steal your stuff. You handed it over. ZFenix didn't put a trojan on Intensity Green's computer and log him in to get a titan kill, he warped to him, because IG was silly enough to be in a public gang with dwindling cap support.
Metagaming is something serious that needs to be dealt with when it arises, and tossing the accusation around makes the impact of actual, game-damaging metagaming less offensive.

People are missing the bigger picture here. His intentions were not to deceive or scam (by his own admission) he did it on a whim. Had he entered the alliance with full intentions of ripping them off, I would offer him up a good going and be on my way. Had I checked his background properly I never would have given a round of ammo to him. I have absolutely no use for any Goon. They play the game the way they want and that is fine. In game I couldn't be bothered to p1ss on them if they were on fire.
Jotram, seriously m8 you should just find another char cause you will never be able to sell that one, unless you threw in the assets and ISK with the deal. Oh, and you might want to keep your identity a secret because you have about 1500 ****ed off people that will shoot you anytime anywere reguardless of system sec status. Neither the titan kill or Jotram's theft are metagaming. Metagaming is not a word meaning "things which meany-pants do", it actually has boundaries of behaviour that describe it.
Taking down someone's TS server, or using a hack or exploit to infilitrate OOG forums are clear examples of metagaming.

ZFenix didn't put a trojan on Intensity Green's computer and log him in to get a titan kill, he warped to him, because IG was silly enough to be in a public gang with dwindling cap support.
Metagaming is something serious that needs to be dealt with when it arises, and tossing the accusation around makes the impact of actual, game-damaging metagaming less offensive.
Thank you for explaining this to the people. I was praying that metagaming wouldn't be some new word everyone uses but clearly has no idea of the meaning.

If you're gonna be a corp theif, go about it professionally. There's no shame in being a dedicated corp theif, and there's even infamy if you do it right (see Tyrrax ♥).
But you? Basically, you flew with an alliance and corp that gave you enough to keep you there enjoying flying with them,

As many of you know isnurg was robbed of around 90 bill assets this week, including a set of Mom components id just like to issue the following:
the story itself was i was a leader within insurgency for over 6 months, i had been on every op either running a op or helping run one in another form, i was well trusted and was one of the very few with high command acsess, over the last few months insurgency was fighting in branch for the northern stations there. this inluded our main base of operations qcwa-
long story short we lost qcwa almost 3 weeks ago and we needed a plan to evacuate the 100's of billions of isk and assets from the stations, originaly we cleared most of it out within the first few nights via jumpfreighters and capitals., a second plan was made by myself to evacuate assets with a freighter/carrier alt within pure.
my alt got into qcwa and was set to move stuff, my original intention was to remove around 20 peoples stuff from qcwa and back to our old home. i must state: I HAD NEVER RELEASED INTEL TO ANY ENEMY OF INSURGENCY. I STILL LOVE THEM FOR WHAT THEY HAVE DONE THE LAST 6 MONTHS, I ALWAYS WILL. I DID NO PLAN TO STEAL ASSETS FROM ANYONE UNTILL:
darth spoke to myself and i offerd to get it all out, he sent a alaince mail to contract me 1 bs each and there major assets. i log for the night,
the following morning i log in click contracts expexting only a few contracts, when to my surprise 143 contracts assigned, i open a few up and realise theres alot of isk to be transported, i carirerd on sorting the evac for a few more daysuntill i realised how much i had,
and the rest is history i guess
my apologies, i really didnt want to do it because of you guys, but all the moaning in leadership the last week just pushed me over the edge
mainly my first appologie is to dacovale, this guy, a awesome fc may i add, was the worst for me to think about. i kept thinking whats dacovale gonna think? so sorry mate i just cant explain it :(
second is mainly my corp, especialy girly'girl+ errica, ive flown with you for a long time, girly'girl, from when you first joined the game infact. you are the only two people i want contact with, you know how to get me.
a few others are, alex logan, darth solo himself, agmar. so sorry, darth, dont let anyone blame you for this its not your fault. you trusted me and you were brutally betrayed.
tbh, looking at it now, thats all the people i cared about in the alliance, doesnt seem like a lot, but those few kept me playing eve for 15 hours a day.

Razor posted quotes from our forums and TS into local while we were fighting them, and used the information against us. You might want to shut the hell up about this metagaming angle and maybe quit Razor if you think it's so awful. You do it.

You have to hand it to Jotram, he's created a new level of douchebaggery. I didnt have anything worth caring over there, but with a game full of shady people, thieves, scammers, isk sellers, macro miners, he has managed to be a bigger douche bag than any of them.
You didn't just steal from some corp dumb enough to give a new recruit access to corp assets, you stole from a corp you've played with, flew with for quite some time, you stole from friends.
Maybe I take internet space ships, or MMO's more serious than others, but everything here, items, isk is time spent, time spent that could have been spent doing other things, probably more entertaining things than ratting, hell, it's WORK, work thats put up with with rewards of having more fun. You stole from friends, end of story, game or not.
Enjoy your time left kiddo, fun comes with having friends to play with, not a number in your wallet. I think everyone here can agree with that, ingame politics aside, we're all here to have fun.

In time everyone will forget about all this, happens every time there is a big theft... Either do something about it ingame or move on people, no sense in wasting even more time analyzing Jotram or the person behind the avatar, because as much as some people would like to think they do, none of us really knows a single thing about him in RL, so lets stop acting like we do.
