Edited by: mama guru on 30/05/2008 08:35:07 So im a few weeks of from commandships.
I'll be flying both the Astarte and the Abso. Quite frankly i like the astarte more because its got way more DPS and can easily fit an active tank+ Injector which more suits my playstyle.
Quite frankly i see absolutely no reason to active tank the absolution when i can fly an astarte as it would just be an oversized Zealot with 2 more highslots and an extra turret. So i decided to go for a passive tanked version to use in RR gangs.
6x Heavy Pulse II (Scorch, Navy MF, Conflag and navy Microwave for high tracking against frigs and nano ships)
10mn MWD II Warp Disruptor II Fleeting webber
3x Heatsink II 2x EANM II 1x 1600mm Rolled Rungsten 1x Damage control II
2x Trimark Armor Pimp I
5x Hobgoblin II
About 100k EHP, a bit more agile then a BS with alot better tracking. Post your Absolution setups here, anything goes aslong as its PVP oriented.

Edited by: zayanka on 30/05/2008 10:12:40 long time ago I used to fly absolution with similar setup, exept 1 thermal hardener, eamn and DCU. But the problem with it that allignment time is soooo long and the sig radius is big, that any bs would be able to lock you before you warp off. So it is not good for roaming gangs. For gate camping well zealot does almost the same DPS with much better range.
I tried it with another setup:
6 pulses t2 mwd, disruptor, cap injector 2 med rep t2, 1 thermal, 2 eanm, 2 HS aux nano pumps
Does tank ok, nothing amazing tbh.
After this experience I decided to fly zealot for roaming gangs and Geddon/Abbadon/Apoc when I feel like having a big buffer and a lot of firepower.
Also I have to mention that the lock time of Command ships is rather slow. If you r solocamping then any hac will warp away before you get a lock on.

Pretty much what i was afraid of. But then again the passive setup would be fore remote repping gangs and so on. I'll use a gankageddon for solo any day over the abso just because its alot more fun.

The absolution has mountains of capacitor, thats why people active tank them. I use the dual rep setup above but if buffertank floats your boat then no reason why it wouldnt work, but for RR gangs a geddon is probably better tbh, and abso is better used as a solo hoe slappin' pimp mobile

First thing: for abso command ship lvl5 is almost a must (dual damage bonus on command ship skill). Astarte can live with lvl4 (misses 5% damage and 10% faloff then).
IMO you need injector on absolution - that ship (with 2 heatsinks) drains its cap ONLY by firing guns. 3 heatsinks and we have tragedy there :X.
O well cant gather my thoughts now ;p Just hop on celes pub and if im there i can tell ya more ;p
EDIT as far as RR gangs go abso is pretty okish (resist bonus is best thingy there) but its still sub-par to any battleship. The best thing you can do with it in gangs is to ignore primaries (depening ofc. on the size of your gang) and go for the support. Tracking bonus + good range + good DPS = support dies way faster than if for ex. geddon was shooting em.

Yeah there is no way i'll use the Abso for much solowork when i can fly an astarte, but i've heard this ship is worth the time invested if you get Commandships V like you said.
I just hate the freaking 3 mids, thats it.

Well its still only a command ship and unfortunately BS's are better in everything. Exception is ofc sleipnir which can be nanoed and zoom faster than minnie BS's.

i fly a abso also and i must say i like it better then astarte ..if you noticed people tend to tank em less on shield/armor all the time now ..fitting i got : 6x heavy pulse lasers t2 (amarr navy multyfreq) med slots: warp dis t2 cap injector t2 10mn best named mwd ..low slots: 2x medium armor rep t2 amarr navy eanm x2 1x corelii c-type thermic membrane and 2x true sansha heat sinks hehe and as rigs 2x ccc ...cap holds on very well u can perma shoot run scram and 1 armor repairer ..if you get neuted then the cap injector comes in and u start overheating that mwd to gtfo (ship speed : 1200m/sec lvl 4/5 on navigation)

I have cs lvl5 and i use absolution but to be honest, if i need dps, i take my abaddon/geddon.
My absolution fit (classic but work like a charm) :
6x heavy pulse II 1x 10mn mwd II, 1x med cap in II, 1x disruptor II 2x Mar II, 2x eanm II, 1x dc II, 2x heat sink II
1x rigs nanopump, 1x rigs armor thermic resistance
5x hornet ecm drone

Absolution works better with a 1600mm plate instead of the second Rep.
Those 6k more ArmorHP are worth 3 minutes of running a MAR II. .

abso kill and tank harbi, aba geddon kill and tank abso (no mwd etc etc) Abso just a fun ship to play (not the better) just fun and you play for fun, no? i play for that.
