I been looking at chillblast, they seem ok but does anyone know of another UK based site//store ? which are reliable and such. Im after a - Core 2 Duo Quadcore 4gb RAM nVidia 8800GT Card minimum Fully upgradeable to (if i choose to in a year or so down the line) Any help//advice would be great. And yes i know there is always so many PC build threads on here and im sorry in advance for that !.

Ive always found them reliable, quick and competent (though i'm sure others will disagree). Within your price range and within your specifications, just look at the right hand menu and choose 'overclocked'. You can upgrade more memory etc now if that is your choice. These pre-builds are already overclocked and guarenteed. All you need to do is add software / monitor and upgrades if that is your wish. Best of luck if this is not what you desire or are looking for. Dwi Cymraig

I seriously doubt you will notice a difference with a quad core as very few programs will actually take advantage of it. A dual-core will perform great and meet your needs and the money saved could be applied to better graphics and such which you will notice more. That is different than a dual-cpu setup where you had two separate chips on the same board. In this case the two CPU cores are on one chip but they concept is the same and they run more efficiently than dual-cpu setups. Core2-Duo is far from obsolete. It is pretty much the gold standard today and will likely remain so for a few years. As for going obsolete frankly by the time Quad-core becomes the defacto standard the chip you get today will be obsolete not matter what it is. Either way you are in for an upgrade in a few years. If money were no object then I'd say go for it. But you have a budget and I believe that money put into other components will net you far more value and utility (e.g. a better video card or better speakers or faster memory or a blu-ray DVD or whatever). FYI: Nvidia is due to release their new line of cards June 18 (ATI is likewise doing the same within a day or two of that). As such better video cards will be available and the current line will almost certainly drop in price to make room for the new stuff. How much the prices drop is open to question...saving a few quid probably is not worth waiting for...saving a few hundred is. I have no idea where the prices will go. Although rumor has those new GTX280s (Nvidia is doing a new naming scheme) as pretty rocking cards that blow away the current lineup. Just rumor though. Till release we will not have any reviews and benchmarks to know for sure. I used to do courier contracts for them and would have to travel all over the place with replacement componants, sometimes visiting the same place 3-4 times. I did think of them earlier but, tbh, I have no idea if they have changed their shyte build quality over the last few years. As for overclockers being out of stock on some things, if you are ordering one of their pre-builds it makes no difference. If they say 48hrs it will be 48hrs. Ive always found them to be ultra reliable as far as delivery and componants are concerned. The only thing that went wrong with them in the last 4 builds ive made is they sent the wrong dvd/r, it was the more expensive model so obviously I sent it back But, its your cash, spend it where you think it is right. They normally do custom builds, but their entry level models start at around ú600 - do a search through the 'home-office' range and spec a model up to see how much your budget will stretch to. You could probably save a few quid by purchasing the gfx card through someone else and just slot it in when Vadim deliver the base unit, so long as you tell Vadim which card you are going to put in it, they will test the unit accordingly and arrange the power cables to line up etc, so it would be easy to do.
