Good god but people love to whine around here.
As a new player, you don't have to train the training skills. They're there if you want to shave off some time in the long term.
When I started (about 2 weeks ago now), I read the advice to learn the training skills, and in general I tried to follow it. But if I needed some level 1 skill to equip a new module, the training skills went on hold.
It's a trivial matter to see what you gain or lose by training or not training them. Open up EveMon, add a bunch of skills, then look at the suggestion link at the bottom of the page. Ohhhh, in my 94 day training plan I can shave 1 day 4 hours from my training time. I can decide that's important to me, or I can decide that it's more important to be able to equip missiles on my Condor as soon as possible.
It's this little thing called "choice". It's really not a bad thing, once you get used to it.

Hi,
You DONT have to train learning skills to get involved. I started with an Amarr and started mining and misisons. Mining got a few isk and misisons got loot from NPC rats. The money made from this was more than I got form mining so I kept doing this.
Not having any skills I realised that I was going toi get my a$$ handed to me if I went PvP'ing so I keep doing missions. They get harder (especially when your a total Noob) so this keeps you on your toes.
Even now I still do this and havent gotten into the PvP thing as I know my skills suck. I'm still training (PvP) skills mostly so I can get shieldextenders, hardeners, tracking computers, etc to get the edge in combats. I havent even gotten BS yet!I put up social and charimsa skills to increase the returns and standing on missions so there's more skills that others say DONT DO IT!
The game is expandable for everyone with a variety of tasks for you to use and things to do. Heck, you came back didnt you?
Regards,
Jason Brisbane

Originally by: Ezri Filth In MY opinion, CCP should just remove all learning skills from the market and give everyone a flat +9 for the learning skills and +10% for the learning skill (there is one "s" less, you see?).
Learning skills 4tl, give new players a better start.
This. CCP said learning skills were a mistake on EveTV. Perhaps give some SP bonus to those who already have trained up learning might help.

Playing Eve is about choices-a freedom to establish direction. If learning skills were removed & no compensation given we would all train in the same way, all carry on training the same skills but slower.
Training learning skills is a choice-CCP have given you that freedom-train them & learn faster or don't train them & learn slower.
This thread is pointless because with any of the Eve skills training enhances & when you train learning skills you just enhance learning. If the learning skills were removed it would damage the most fundamental element of this game-the freedom to choose our own direction. You may as well remove the entire training elements & aquire what you want with ISK.
This honestly is a big whine about nothing-are we all bored?

You don't *have* to train learning skills at all, but you'd be more bored waiting for skills to train for lvl1 at 1hr than 20mins. It's a payoff you'd be foolish to pass-up, and while you may not immediately train learning skills to lvl 3 or higher, for something you need immediately (you can always train half a skill then do one you need asap, and continue)
Basically, the offer for speeding up skill-learning is there, if you invest in them.
