Well, i was just about to set off on another jaunt - this time with a couple of fellow noobs, when the wife comes in (see exclamation in thread title)
Has anyone else suffered sudden and out-of-the-blue marital strife as a consequence of this game, or is it just me?

So my advice to you: QUIT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!
Edit: i'm not allowed to say****s?I know they cause lung cancer and all...

The fights I have with my fiancee that are a direct consequence of me playing Eve too much are WAY to common! But strangely, the REAL 'annoyance factor' comes when we have to go out somewhere, and for I'm in mid warp, she can't fathom that fact that I can't just close down the frickin computer in an instant! I have to dock and then log off for crying out loud woman! There's no getting it through to her! hehe! 'Desire the Right'

My partner hates this game with a passion .
Well only when she's not doing her college work, and wants to spend time with me. I usually log off, just I can't log off in the middle of a mission, or warp!

That's part of the reason I'm not married.
The other part being a gibbering fear of commitment.

It's not just you! Funny though, it only ever becomes a problem when the wife has nothing to do so "I just want to spend time with you" comes up. The solution, keep em busy and compromise by having at least one night a week Eve free for "quality time together".

My wife left me 6 months ago as a result of eve.
I only found this out last night when we had a powercut. |

LMAO!
Same wife strife
It's universal. My wife's OK when a new "West Wing" box set comes out, but they just don't release them quick enough

ROFL! Way too is too familiar!
"It's just a game, what do you mean you can't shut it down? Are you addicted or what, do I have to call a shrink?"
"I just have to finish what I'm doing, it takes less than five minutes. Then you will have my undivided attention for several hours, okay?"
"You care more about that computer than me!" *stomps out in rage*

The only times I have problems is when my sister comes over to visit when I'm playing the game.
She likes to talk - NONSTOP - so she'll sit here and blather at me while I'm in the middle of doing something - usually distracting me to no end.
Don't get me wrong - it's family and all - but sometimes I'm tempted to open the desk drawer, take out a roll of duct tape while she's watching and set it on the desk next to the mouse - and look at her significantly for a moment before returning my eyes to the screen.

Edited by: Deloup Drakar on 07/05/2004 12:58:46 I bought some time by buying her a laptop to keep her busy. Also by trying to get her addicted to video games. The only problem is, she still continues to want to spend time with me, yet she wont agree to watch anything I like on TV, so heck if I'm going to give up EVE to watch some stupid show on VH1/Animal Planet or Will and Grace.
I've already been told however that I cannot be playing EVE on the day of our wedding, since she's scared I'd forget about the wedding while playing it .
**edit** as to your comment that it should have a health warning....check the CD case (if you got it on CD) it states "Warning your new life may be better than your current life" or smoething like that...i'm unfortunatly at work (something gotta pay the subscription bills)

That used to be my wife's favorite statement untill my smartass came up with a comeback; here is where I'll advise you to proceed at your own risk, one male coworker threatened me with physical violence for putting the smartassed comment in his head
response: "What's the difference between spending time and doing time?"
Depending on her uptake, you may want to make yourself a smaller target, verbal or otherwise
Also it seemed to get awful chilly, but it did shut her up for awhile.
Stop griping about server instability and go buy an EVE mug!
Additionally with the purchase of each mug you will receive two(2) invisible Elves.

Disco once mentioned something to me about being as sexy as some amarr interceptor. I slapped him, he then said I should take it as a compliment
I knew then that I was meant to be with a girl

One of the guys in our corp has the right idea. Go with a girl that plays Eve (yes they do exist!) So he can play as much as he likes and it's cool, because she's playing as well.
I wish that my (now ex-) girlfriend had been like that. She just didn't understand things like "I have to go to the corp mine today" or "But our ceo has declared that all pvp ready pilots have to go to..."
*Sigh*

My wife brings me tea and sandwiches. :)
You just have to teach them that their role in life is to look after you and to STFU.
Now that may sound like a one-sided deal but, whilst I'm playing EVE my wife has full access to the TV remote.

When someone puts a video game ahead of their spouse it indicates that the relationship perhaps isnŠt very good. EVE doesnŠt ruin relationship that werenŠt previously on shaky grounds.
My girlfriends things this whole idea of mmog is very odd and does not understand why I would like to talk to people I have never even met. I usually tell her to shut the hell up and see procedes to kick the **** out of me. This relationship would suck if I wasnŠt a masochist __________ Capacitor research |

I got my GF an account of her own for her birthday last August and I get to play everyday after we get the kiddies in bed. Sometimes earlier, WOOT! Personally I'd play more but I want to keep the relationship. Too bad I still have to support her ingame, but she's getting pretty good at killing the rats.

HAHA, excellent!
My girlfriend leaves me to be, i try and limit myself to no more than an hour when she is around. She does not understand the game tho... oh well.
