Yes I`m a rl girlie and a football widow. Hubby is pleased I dont hog the TV now as he can watch as much football as he wants now:) And he brings me my tea and wine to sustain me. All I get is " can you dock now as I want to check my email".

I had that problem for a bit but then I figured out my wife was right and I cut down on EVE a bit. I still play a lot but just not crazy amounts. The added bonus is I'm enjoying it more now than before when I do play.

It's not just Eve, so changing the name wouldn't help. Wives and gfs just hate the competition.
Even when they knew , before you got together, that this was your thing.
When I first met my wife my computer was situated right next to the bed, so I could just fall over and go to sleep; wake up and play. Now it's in a different room, but she still isn't happy!
Happily married for five years and six months so far. I'll keep you posted.

:) I got a girl who goes "Oh, you're on EVE" so she gets on my second PC and loads UT2004 and crushes people like the insignifigant worms they are. :) then we go out for dinner catch a quick movie and go about gaming again :P

ROFL LMAO
Oh my god this thread should be made a sticky.
I too have had problems with my girlfriend with regard to devoting too much time to gaming & not enought time to her. We don't live together so the problem really only surfaces on the weekend or if we are talking on the phone & I am not paying attention.
Usually I just stop playing while she is around, but I usually she doesn't mind if I change a skill over or the like... but yes it does depend on how many brownie points I have accrued that week.
But being an Aussie, the DT is now at 8:30 pm, which is usually a pretty time for us to call each other and chat.

I got married back in December.
I made sure beforehand that she was aware I have something of an addiction to the computer, I don't think she really took that seriously.
"Your always on the computer" and "You like the computer more than me" are inevitable, especially when I'll make you a cup of tea after this mission, spawn or whatever it may be turns into an hour then you generally get in trouble.
I think I could honestly say that my amount of gaming is somewhat unhealthy but I think she does understand me, though most of the time now she only want's me off it so she can play.
Put it this way, when your wife's first sentence is "Next time your docked...." you may be playing EVE a little too much.

Quote: My wife brings me tea and sandwiches. :)
You just have to teach them that their role in life is to look after you and to STFU.
Now that may sound like a one-sided deal but, whilst I'm playing EVE my wife has full access to the TV remote.
How completely thuggish. It's probably just as well she doesn't spend more time with you because she'd have divorced you by now if she had.
I'm female, been a gamer since junior high and wouldn't have married a non-gamer. Matter of fact, I was the one that got my husband hooked on EVE. Nice thing is I can call him from work, ask him to start a skill for me and vice versa and we completely understand the addiction.
One of my favorite stories comes from when hubbydude called up Games Workshop to order some minis for me as a B-day present. For whatever reason, he told the customer service guy it was for his wife and the reply was 'Man... you're so lucky'. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hypocrisy is the homage vice pays to virtue. - Franžois, duc de La Rochefoucauld |
