The installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete. This could be the result of a damaged disk, a failed download or a virus.
You may want to contact teh author of this installer to obtain a new copy.
It may be possible to skip this check using the /NCRC command line switch (NOT RECOMMENDED).
I've been getting this message ever since I unistalled Eve (because my game quit working on me) and tried to reinstall it. I've tried DLing both the premium and classic multiple times, and both give me this message. I've tried virus scanning to no avail, and I have no idea what the /NCRC command line is...
Anyone able to help me with this? I miss Eve :(

I've been surfing the forums for a few days now, and I've got nothing... somebody tried saying that downloading it in Internet Explorer might help, but it didn't... Hopefully they give us a solution soon... I've been watching that 70's show before I went to bed, lol, and their jokes can only go so far... lol, nvm it rocks.

same stuff on my computer as well..
I could not auto patch.. cause the patch was corrupt... i could not manually patch.. cause Structures.res or something was corrupt.. and i can't do a full install cause the SHA-1 number don't match...
Either we have done something horribly wrong.. or CCP have borked up big time...

I am seeing the same problem, attempted to download the patch initially however this failed while patching resSOUND.stuff.
Have tried downloading the full installer twice, first two attempts at installing both failed unpacking the same file.
Am now trying the /NCRC workaround to see what happens... |

Yep, it's installed OK...
If you're unsure how to do this -> Create a shortcut to the Eve installer.
Right click and edit the shortcut properties.
On the target tab scroll to the far right, past the quotes and add /NCRC.
Worked fine after that for me. What a silly mistake to make tho :-P

I doubt they would bother...
Right now i'm doing a SHA-1 check just to be 100% sure... only downside is that it takes ages to check 1.2 gigabytes of data...
Gonna give some feedback on it tomorrow though..

Crossed fingers and and began install of new client. I was fully expecting same error message again, but to my delight - THE DAMN THING WORKED! Woo-friggin-hoo!!!
I tried not to get to excited as I hadn't actually logged into the game yet.....

no need to do that... I have an on board diagnostics... with a display...
As it goes through each of the booting stages it displays an unique code...
and when the ram was gone it halted at a specific code... I have looked up the code and it said memory fault.
It's really annoying when it happens... Cause the machine starts to emit crazy beeps and stuff all the time untill i remove the bad ram chip.
But... enough of my problems... Have anyone found a ****ion to this dreaded problem ?? seems like no matter what i do, i get that stupid file corrupt and installer is borked error... |

As for the OP, your issue with CCP is well taken. I have this same problem with the downloads. It is not my computer it is an error with CCP. I have tried to download on 3 differnt computers numerous times and still get an error message each time on all of them. I am currently attempting to download from one of the alternative mirror sites listed above. Hopefully that will work. |

dont know what the problem is here, but in Ryzom (RIP), some users had download errors also (there it was ~2GiB installer). ofcourse for others, same download was working fine.
those who are downloading it multiple times, check the sha/md5 hashes for download and maybe also post it here ? not that it gives any clues, but if the hashes are different....

Hey Guys, I've been having similar problems. I tried the patch when emyrean age was released and my pc hanged. So i uninstalled and downloaded the classic client. while that was installing my pc started to lag like hell. I tried uninstalling and discovered that my pc was now lagging like crazy in general.. During and after installing the client looking at the task manager I get a total cpu usage of 25-30% but if i look at the individual processes i get a total usage of about 2-3%. So i thought aha a virus.. I did a system scan and nothing. I then reformatted and reinstalled windows, downloaded classic client again and got exactly same problems.. Reformat, redownload premium client this time, same thing. Reformat, redownload etc.. etc.. I'm getting pretty angry with this. It usually starts lagging while extracting one of the .stuff files but not always the same. If I leave it for a few hours it will complete the installation and eve will run but the pc lags like an ibm 386 . After uninstalling eve the lag becomes a little better ( acts like a 486 this time ) If i abort the installation by pressing the power button b4 it finishes my pc returns to normal. This has been going on for 10 days now and I have paid to play but i cant.. I hope i get some feed back on this. CCP are u there?!!!

You don't seem to understand. memtest86 will find broken stuff that your "on board diagnostic" will never find, unless you use ECC ram or something. But if you used ECC ram, you probably wouldn't have these problems now. There is a reason why it takes hours and hours to run memtest86 vs. a few seconds for the amateur test utilities.
If your onboard diagnostic is telling you ram bad, it is really fsked up and was probably bad for quite some time.

Why?? EVE doesn't write stuff to the install location. It only saves settings to your profiles directory.
Reinstalling EVE solves nothing.

Have you checked that your harddrive is not damaged? Lag like that happens in Windows if drive is trying to relocate sectors. You need some S.M.A.R.T. utility there to check actual relation counters and if your drive passes the self test (recommended long test so it scans the entire surface)
EVE will not cause your hardware/windows to crap out. The opposite is true though. Especially the install process :)

EVE does NOT write to its install directory. Reinstalling will do NOTHING.
If you get corrupted files after some crash, it is a problem with your computer, not EVE. Heck, I have the EVE install directory read-only as seen from my username and the game works (need to install patch under user with write access, but that's different).
If you get corrupted EVE executable after some "crash", something funny is happening. I would first check your RAM with memtest86. Then get some utility to run a SMART test (long) on your harddrive. These are the basics.

The patches were tested, uploaded, downloaded again, and tested again. All worked fine.
Which means that the problem is somewhere on the internet between our download servers and your computer. Some suggestions for you to try: Clear your browser's cache and try again. In case there's a proxy server in between then try and download from a friend's computer.
If the autopatching is failing, then clear the EVE client's cache and try again.

Dear CCP and MR. explorer, I Have so little knownledge about internet, but it seems this problem and the disconnect problem and Exe. problem might be all related. This been the worse week to play this game. I have disconnect so many times. Can't download the client. SO is it possible that somehow that big patch DID change how the information is sent via internet to us and sent back to you.
Sincerely can you look into this more?

I currently also am having issues similar to this.
First started playing eve about 2 weeks ago, just after latest patch. I downloaded Premium setup, installed, and was playing flawlessly until yesterday (Jun 27). I experienced a few of the more common crashes that others have been complaining about only starting yesterday, but didn't think much of it (figured it was something temporary). Not much long later, while launching Eve, Eve decided to tell me one of the files was corrupt and I needed to reinstall. I uninstalled and tried to reinstall (using the same exact EVE_Premium_Setup_53162.exe file) and Voila, It told me the installer had problems and wouldn't reinstall.
Checked hard drive for errors, viruses, etc. No avail. Also noticed that somewhat randomly my ethernet connection to the network would simply die. All other computers on the network were fine, except this one would no longer connect to the network. DHCP release/renew would hang, I couldn't even disable the network connection to try and re-enable it, it was just stuck. A reboot fixed the issue, but it would periodically come back.
Now today, I have been finicking around trying to get this thing to install. I've downloaded the client multiple times off the website to no avail. And just now, well... There is definately something wrong with what just happened:
Run the installer: Sorry failed. (Corrupted or incomplate mumbojumbo) Run the installer again: Sorry failed. Run the installer with /NCRC: Installs a bit then says Corrupt Install? (Usually around the face.stuff area). Run the install with /NCRC: Crashes after awhile. Run the install without /NCRC: Wow, Verification passed! Wow, it installed the whole thing! Run Eve: Shows splash screen, splash screen disappears, nothing happens. Repeatedly. Force quit EveFile.exe Run Eve: Gets into the game, downloading patch (126mb). Patch verification failed. NOTE version at this point is 4.12.53162 Downloading Patch (63mb, the fk happened to the other 63mb?) again... Ready to patch! Press OK! Patching error in file res.stuff, The specified file did not have the correct CRC. Please reinstall Eve-online. Re-apply patch from Local Settings/.../...: specified file did not have the correct CRC. Please reinstall Eve-online. Repeat: Same result Repeat: Same result Run Eve: Bad install blah blah blah. Uninstall Eve. Run the installer: Sorry, Corrupted or incomplete.
Really?

Update on my issues:
I ended up downloading a fresh installer on a laptop, installing it on that computer without a single problem. I then transferred the entire EVE directory over to my problematic computer.
Eve works like a champ.
But that didn't seem to fix my problems entirely, I still had corrupt file issues not only on the EVE installers I had, but also various compressed files I have downloaded over the past few days (easiest to tell if a compressed file is corrupted due to basic CRC checks built in etc). Out of curiosity I decided I'd try swapping around my memory sticks and see if it helps.
Sure enough, one of my memory sticks being in the primary slot caused problems in uncompressing files for EVE installers and various zip files. The weird part is I tried downloading multiple programs from the web and only large files seemed to have a problem. Furthermore, I tried various other games I had installed (If there was a serious memory problem, it would have caused those games some trouble too no?). Both games were extremely CPU and memory intensive (averaging no less than 1 GB of memory usage out of 2 GB total). The games didn't seem to have a problem, but that is not hard evidence of error free memory.
Long story short: I removed one memory stick and everything seems to be working fine and dandy.
Does Eve destroy your memory? Maybe... A 12 month old corsair memory stick failing 2 weeks after installing and playing Eve online.. More than one individual experiencing similar results...
I have never had a problem with corsair memory this new, and it is either an amazing coincidence or a serious issue.
Useful background info:
Yes, memory and CPU is overclocked. Corsair model: CM2X1024-6400C4
My realistic response to my own response: If you could create a program that slaughtered a memory stick in 2 weeks, the source would be reverse engineered and become the end all be all end of the world virus of all times. I am a developer myself and I have to assume this is all coincidence. The more likely case is that Eve's memory intensive features brings out the problems that already exist more-so than most other everyday applications.
