if im not wrong, DPS (Damage Per Second) has a way to be calculated, but, how?
If anyone would be so kind to ans me this, thank you. |

The specifics depend on what weapon you are using and what you are shoting at.
You will need to be more specific in what you need if you want more than the obvious: damage per shot / shots per second. |

lets put an example, any of it... ehhh.
okay i got a 75mm railgun, that has the fire rate off 4.49 sec and using lead charger has a basic dmg of 5 kientic and 3 thermal (this is not quiete acurate but what ever).
ua re shooting someone, u dont know his resistences, nothing, how much dps has that? and how u calculate it? |

Edited by: Kneebone on 13/06/2008 20:01:40 Base DPS is simple. It's damage/rate of fire.
100 Dmg Weapon / 5 seconds = 20DPS
Unfortunatly its not that simple. You have resists, the quality of the hit, etc etc.. Missle DPS is probably easiest to figure out since its a fairly fixed thing. Damage/RoF - Resist. Guns, Lasers, Blasters, etc... all have the various types of hits that raise and lower DPS. When your calculating Gun DPS you have the ammo type and gun damage mod. |

8 damage / 4.49 seconds = 1.78 DPS
You then need to make whatever adjustments you want to account for resistances and tracking.
Now, if that 5 + 3 damage came strait from the specs for Lead ammo, you need to go back and factor in the modifier for the 75mm railgun which is 1.5x.
Then there are your gunnery skills and ship skills, along with any weapon upgrades and anything else that could also modify your effective damage.
In short calculating potential DPS by hand using the item database is a pain. Much simpler to use something like EFT.
However, if you want to do it by hand, you just need to figure out each modifier and multiply them all together. |

It's not hard. Simply:
1. Fit up your ship. Fit any magnetic field stablizers, heat sinks, ballistic controls, etc, that you want.
2. Right click on your gun in the fitting window.
3. Look at the damage shown(i.e. 4 thermal + 3 kinetic dmg)
4. Multiply this by the dmg multiplier listed there in the weapon stats , this will take into account your skills, ship attributes, ammo, modules .
5. Multiply by the number of guns you have
6. Divide by rate of fire. Yay, you now have your ships dps
