Edited by: Mazzarins Demise on 15/06/2008 04:32:21 Well I officially love Emp Age. This was by far the coolest thing I've ever witnessed.
I was stealthing around in my Cov Ops ship in the Bleak Lands trying to get back to Amarr space since I was stranded out there due to loss of my internet connection. I was about 4-5 jumps from secure space when I had to evade gate camps, blobs and then some. When I got to the last gate before our territory, which was just another low-sec zone but it was ours, a 50-man Minmatar fleet was stationed right outside of it and I wasn't sure what to do. I probably had time to just zoom in cloaked and warp through but I didn't want to take a chance.
After about 15-20 mins, more of them show up and the gate is even more packed. All of a sudden, 5 VETO Battleships come through the gate and all hell breaks loose. Drones deploy, missiles launch, lasers stream past, a real battle takes place. Minimatarian militia scream "PIRATES AT THE GATE" in local seeking any assistance they could. It was a pitched battle and the pirates were winning, my opportunity to escape was afoot.
I make a B-line for the gate while all the pirates and militia battle it out and it was the coolest thing watching the ships shooting at eachother. I felt like all the firepower being interchanged was flying all around me and it was. And then... a fast moving frigate bumps into me and I go uncloaked...
****! was what I screamed right then and I activated my MWD and hauled ass through the gate. Luckily for me, everybody was too content with eachother to spot me and my little Anathema. I pass through the gate and even more minmatar was on the other side, fleeing from the terrors beyond the gate.
I cloaked up, fled to the nearest gate and I was back home.
My god that was totally awesome.

Given those funny as hell carebear-trying-to-be-a-pvper setups have routed RA capital hotdrops in the last few days, I wouldn't be so sure.

Edited by: Eternal Error on 15/06/2008 06:17:08 I love the fact that a 50 man fleet ran from 5 battleships, unless you are exaggerating the numbers. Somehow, it doesn't surprise me.
EDIT: Also, to the above poster, congratulations, you killed some carriers belonging to pilots who probably laughing so hard at hot dropping on faction warfare people they weren't paying attention. Three carriers to most large alliances, and particularly RA, is nothing. Fortunately for you guys, despite what you may think, you are not a threat to major alliances. If you were, the militia would already be dead.

I am pretty sure someone got his numbers wrong. Even with the worst setup 5 battleships jumping through a gate will not destroy a 60-70 men gatecamp.
And RA lost 3 carriers to a group of people who according to you probably before EA release would get hunted down 23/7 by pirates. And also pirates meanwhile lost a carrier to gallente militia, but i am sure they didnt want that one anyway...

Umm, dude, I've got nothing to do with factional warfare, I just find it ironic that all these people say that the militias are no threat, a bunch of noobs etc while the militia are having fun knocking pos' into reinforced and dropping officer fitted carriers. Especially given that these guys, for all intents and purposes, are in an npc corp. I also remember a few years back when a certain group who's MO was to spam the enemy with t1 frigates and cruisers was told that they would never be a threat to major alliances, and we all know how they're "already dead"

Yup.
It seems all it took for people to actually go into low sec was put in some complexes that anyone can make spawn and that don't actually in the long run affect anything except a line of text in the overview. I was wrong, it seems this did pull some pvers into pvp (along with the pirates, antipirates, 0.0ers, and everyone else).
Remains to be seen who will stay in a couple of months, of course, but right now it is quite a delightful mess.

No, all it took was giving people a sense of purpose – something that was completely lacking in previous NPC corps, and which is very very rarely seen in player corps (it's certainly nothing that is every advertised, even though it would be a great – of not the – selling point).
Yes, sandbox, yadda yadda – you could always set up you own goals and pursue them, but as that's a fairly huge barrier on its own, and even if some managed to do so, only a small part of those goals included burning a crapton of money on PvP.
FW provides purpose a la carte. That is all that's needed.

Purpose? you mean like medals, points and ranks? Non playermade goals? Can you buy S2 gear with the points you make or perhaps the ubershield of WTFpwnage, any Shaman gear in there?
Next thing you know we'll be holding raids, mark my words.

Raids in EvE are called "blobs" and they are already here...
I think the numbers in the Op isnŠt far from the truth since most players in the militias are flying frigattes. "DonŠt fly what you canŠt afford to lose" you know. ---------------------------------------------------------- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwaMHJzruDU&feature=related |

I would. Anyone can get lucky, and RA isn't known for it's tactical brilliance. If they can't do a log in trap, they don't fight. And lets not forget about the Falcons...

The bulk of the blob was frigates and I have no idea how many we took on, but my overview was full of hostiles and some. I do know that we started with the few BS they had and worked down to BC then cruisers. It only a took a few explosions for the bulk of the militia to run leaving their sniper force which consisted of around five Eagles sitting around 150km away. They soon bailed when a pair of our ships started to get to close.
Fun fight, was pure chaos, looking forward to more!
