Ok CCP, pony up to the bar and make us a feature-length EVE movie. Theres so much content and story-line that its unavoidable. You have done trailers for expansions and what not. So what behooves ya to make a movie?

I saw an interview with Uwe Boll, and he seems like a nice enough guy. That said if he screws this up, I'll hunt him down and make my concerns heard. I'd love to see an EVE movie, its just a question of if they can make a screen play and get someone to make it. Uwe Boll happens to have all the money and experience to pull it off, so maybe something could happen. Good or bad you decide. -------------------------------------------------- Everyone is born right handed, only the great over come it.

I think asking CCP to string up a full-length movie is a bit much. However I do think it would be cool to have more shorts like the EA trailers to illustrate the various goings on in EVE beyond that of just announcing new expansions. _____________ Hai. |

Couldn't we take screen shots of massive fleets, put them in a powerpoint and change the image every 15 seconds? I mean, all my primary sources (the lag whiners and forum trolls) all agree, it must be true!

I have seen a ton of Uwe Boll movies and I must say he is probably uniquely qualified for EVE. He knows how to make a movie over the top, and the EVE movie would have to be over the top. He is not a bad director at all, have you seen the funding he gets for those movies? The fact that they are totally enjoyable on practically no budget really says something.
I would rather watch House of the Dead than a LOT of movies. His stuff is re-watchable and VERY enjoyable. The point of a movie is to enjoy myself, not get good acting good plot or good special effects etc. Those things just usually are needed to enjoy a movie.
Uwe Boll movies are totally some of the most enjoyable movies out there. Which considering it lacks all the usual virtues a conventional hollywood film requires says something about his masterful use of his resources to achieve as much as he does.

okay, you totally have to be a troll. no one in their right mind would say, that "blood rayne", "dungeon siege", "postal" or "alone in the dark" were good movies. and thats the most recent of his films. they all utterly lack suspension, good cutting, dialogues and consistency. "dungeon siege" had really good CG, but lots of CG is by no means all what makes a good movie.
none of the above movies can be watched twice, let alone more often for the sake of sanity. ---

a movie could feasibly be done (with lots of moolah) in CG, just like the two trailers for FW. god i would be so happy if they did that, eve story is just so neat. Mission running: not as exciting as smashing your hand with a hammer, yet more painful. |

Probably more suitable for a TV-series instead. If all 4 races were to be included the movie would last 5,5 hours and if one faction was left out all you effing nerds on this forum would go mad and ramble on about the unfairness of leaving the 3rd son of the 5th Emperor of the 2nd age of the 3rd Empire of the Amarrians...

Edited by: WulfWestphal on 17/06/2008 08:58:37 i havent seen the new rambo till now, so i cant compare the movies. :)
all i know is: i turned off the DVD shortly after half of the movie (dungeon siege), because i couldnt stand it. hell, dungeon siege _was_ better then his movies before, but it was terrible nonetheless. on a level with the dungeons and dragons movie perhaps.
and because im a sucker for game-to-movie adaptions, i fall every time for the crap of uwe boll, because no other director want to make such movies.
ah well. i dont think someone like uwe boll could bring the vision of eve to a movie-thing. ---

Edited by: Asuka Smith on 17/06/2008 09:07:19 See I also like Dungeons and Dragons a LOT, so maybe we just have different taste in films. Regardless, the Uwe Boll movies are a fun mindlessly enjoyable films. They are not in the same ballpark as "The Usual Suspects", but they do not try to be.
They are B-movies of the modern era and I am a HUGE B-movie fan.
FYI he is doing Farcry next and it is just in line with all this others design-wise.

Edited by: Tharukan Desm''ar on 17/06/2008 09:52:04 Since that dreaded man Uwe Bolle has come in to discussion i wanted to show a link. Its a petition in response to stop him making films again. A few years ago another petition was submitted with over 30k signatures asking him to please never have anything to do in film making again. he said 30k wasn't enough and if he got a million he would reconsider maybe.
Stop Uwe Boll Petition

...and i fear i will try to watch the film. :)
though, i dont know how he will transport suspension into the movie. i played farcry, and the major thing for the protagonist was to find out what the heck is going on. for those who have played the game, there seem to be no incentive to watch the movie, cause they _know_ whats going on. right?
i really hope he uses better cutting techniques, way better sound techniques and a whole new level of "better fight choegraphics (sp?)".
anyway. eve-online is not a "B-Movie". it has potential to a tv-series or movietheatres if done right. at least thats what i think. ---

Heh, it looks like there are mixed reviews on who wants to and who doesnt want to see a feature-length flick. Square-enix made FF movies, ID approved of a DOOM movie, and I think Super-mario had a few in the 80s. They were all successes in the eyes of those who played the games. Blizzard is rumored to do a movie for the WOW trilogy of stories. CCP could most certainly field enough CGI animators to do an EVE based one I believe.

There's no way that an Eve movie could beat the classic space epics in terms of storyline, but there's at least some chance that if done right it could still be a memorable movie when compared to other video game-based films. Any wrong turn along the way from the writers, directors, or actors would ensure that Eve is better known for a mediocre film than for an innovative game. I'm not sure it's worth the risk.
On the other hand an Eve TV show, either animated or with real actors, might be cool. I'd almost prefer it be animated.

aaww come on Rambo was awesome! He is old, still kills like 11-enty billion enemies and walks away. Plus, this instalment leaves room for the next evolution of Rambo... (wtf were they.. Buhrma?)... Buhrameese Rambo! I mean that little guy is a tank! Starts off as a guide, goes all ghosty Rambo style and slips right through the enemy line, then comes in and drops the hammer on them securing the uber victory against the Army with a bunch of ticked off farmers! Who couldn't love that!! -----------------------------------------------
