I'd like to propose 3 changes that I hope will be simple to implement. From the discussions I've had with my corp, these changes will only serve to prevent exploitation and improve the game.
1/ You can only Quit the game safely when parked in a station. 2/ Any attempt to quit the game when not in a station will leave your ship floating in space for 5 minutes, killable. 3/ Disable the 'instaboot' when an acct logs in a 2nd instance.
This should help cut down the griefing activity of some individuals that pick on the helpless and instaboot as soon as someone who might hurt them shows up. Commerce raiding in war is a real thing and could be a fun part of Eve but it wasn't and shouldn't be without risk. Many submarines fell to destroyers that escorted the convoys. In Eve however, the griefer just logs in a second session and he's instantly safe. It's not fair and it's not fun. Please implement these simple changes.

No comments? Am I so far off target that no one cares to comment or so dead on target that no one feels the need to comment? Or is this a done to death comment that no one could be bothered to comment?

1: no no no, when you are in 0.0 you are far from stations. 2: that would just be reintroducing the 2min cloaking thingie, AND, if you get disconnected from the game in a bad situation, you get the Devs flooded by petitions, NO. warp disrupt the ship that is warping away after logging out. 3: dont know about that, but if it involves me taking longer or having to wait to log back in after being disconnected, then NO. ______________ Only in the Tales that humans tell, do the hunters kill the wolf in the end.

Edited by: voogru on 14/05/2004 06:22:50 In my opinion, your ship should stay where it was when you logged off, forever. (or maybe 24 hours or so just in case someone logs off while in space and quits the game or something)
However, NPC's ignore you after a minute or two.
Its too easy for someone to go to a safespot log, then log on hours later. This would give people the chance to find people hiding in a safespot, you would only be safe if you kept moving. ------- Your 425mm Prototype I Gauss Gun perfectly strikes Guardian Enforcer, wrecking for 827.3 damage. |

What if you are booted through a glitch on the Internet or your computer? Eve is prone to such booting errors (I experience them at least few a times a week). To the Eve server, it will appear that you have logged out. Under your proposed system, I take it your ship will be stuck in space for five minutes. What if at that moment you are in an asteroid field with NPC's amassing on you? Even though you were not intelligently logging off and could have easily taken the NPC's on if you had not been booted, you will lose your ship it seems under your proposed system.

Yup, some nice comments in that other thread. I particularly like the last one. It does seem a good solution. If you have engaged in or been subject to, PvP within the last 15 mins, you can't disconnect safely; you'll stay in-game and killable (but not poddable) for 5-10 mins. This solution will prevent people disconnecting out of trouble from PvP but won't cause a problem if you get a legit disconnect when PvE.
Hey CCP! Are you reading this? Please don't pull an SOE on us!
It's still awfully important to nerf the instaboot proxy-conflict for logging in an alt. That's just silly and 100% exploitation risk.

No offense but I'd rather be in a safe spot and logged than attacked when I'm logged of by a player. In real life, if some one was blasting at my shields whilst I was sleeping I'd rush out of bed and defend myself. This just doesnt work, and would make alot of players sitting ducks.
That being said, bring back the damn cloack log, this would make another PvP exploit harder. I'd hate it if someone foundmy log safe spot and started blasting my ship when I'm not online, that would suck >_< ---------------------------------
