Edited by: Fennicus on 17/06/2008 14:01:13 Edited by: Fennicus on 17/06/2008 14:00:31 So I've been grinding level 4 missions for the Amarr Navy for the last couple of months, in a few locations, and amassed quite a few loyalty points.
Most of the module-rewards require Minmatar fleet drops, but Amarr Navy do not seem to give out ANY missions that involve Minmatar tags dropping. I suspect this is the same deal for other factions.
So therefore I'd like to ask two questions:
1) If the Amarr Navy wants these tags so much, why don't they send you out to collect some from some missions? Why is their LP store only accessible to people who live near Jita and can buy them off other people, instead of destroy filthy sunglass-wearing scum themselves; what is the point in asking for items that probably drop from doing other faction's missions?
2) Why do they want ~60 million worth of tags for a medium armor repairer? (Requires about 270 tags.) The large version is ludicrously cheap, in comparison.
3) Where can I get Minmatar fleet tags from, mission-wise?
(PS I've done a quick search to see if anyone else has asked similar questions, but can't find anything. Please point me in the direction of threads/websites if there are any good answers.)

Good question. I'm sure you used to get more missions against opposing empire factions, but recently I've hardly seen any.
Quote: 2) Why do they want ~60 million worth of tags
The worth of tags depends on all the LP store offers that feature those tags. As the mission-writing devs appear to have made up tag numbers at random this means that the a popular offer requiring certain tags may skew those tag prices, making other offers simply not worth it. The market in Eve is a curious beast.

In theory you should get the odd level 4 "Intercept the Saboteurs" against Minmatar, but I only ever get it against bloody Gallente.
I don't know if running for a different agent/agent division will change the mission balance. I run Amarr missions almost exclusively for a single agent, so I haven't had a chance to see whether this affects things. Anyone else know?

Baffles me. Had to spend huge on tags to get Amarr Navy LAR, and the MAR is ridiculously expensive.
Possibly go to agents near Minmatar space?
I get a few Republic Fleet High Captain insignias on missions, but the RF Commander I and II, where do they come from? Somebody certainly has a source since they are for sale in large quantities at obscene prices.

What missions do they give in Ammatar space? would these give missions that drop these tags?

You raise a good point. You would expect that running missions for one faction would give you ample opportunities to collect tags from the opposing faction, i.e. the ones the LP store wants.
However, the Amarr seem to be getting shafted here. I know that the Caldari get Enemies Abound, which has 3 parts against the Gallente and 1 part against the Minmatar. The Gallente and Minmatar get Pot & Kettle and In The Midst Of Deadspace for their Caldari/Amarr tag needs. But the Amarr...there's Intercept the Saboteurs and The Score against the Minmatar, but otherwise I don't see any opportunities to get the required tags.

enemies abound 5/5 is where you will get your tags but its the hardest lvl 4 mission atm and you have to go through 1-4 first against gallente which is useful as caldari need those for their store

From dabbling a bit into the amarr lp stores, it seems most of the tag requirements are cruiser-tag heavy. Might need to find people who do level 3s and make them an offer. ---------------------------------------

I've done level III's for months, only RF High Captain tags and lower.
Flown missions in Tash-Murkon, Kor-Azor, and Domain.
Cost of the tags drive up the costs of the items so much you really wonder if the LP store items that require tags are worth the effort.

i wonder why do LP store require 250 tags + for one item in the first place...
this means that you must loot 250 opposing faction frigates... provided that you get 25 per mission... that is 10 faction missions for a mid quality item...
and the rocket launchers - their tag requirement is insane... 250 + 100 + 50... it forces you to do at least 50 lvl 2 missions in order to get all those spawns.
tags are not reasonable

This. Please, ccp, do something about the stupid amount of tags you need for certain items.

The story is the same for the Gallente and Minmatar LP stores. It really requires months of dedicated missioning to get enough tags for good modules. In that time, you'll get hundreds of Amarr General tags, and a couple dozen Amarr Major tags. Guess which ones are needed for most offers? The ones that are practically nonexistent. ------------

Since I am minnie but ran Caldari agent I was glad not to get the faction missions against minnie... In a side issue, I note that Sansha tags are worth so much more than True Sansha tags--I guess this is also due to the need for the first in LP stores or for Cosmos agents that require tags for ships but am I missing something on the true sansha tags?

The regular Sansha tags are used by Cosmos agents.
As for the level 5 missions dropping faction tags - I have not run them, but I bet they still drop more Amarr Navy General and Amarr Navy Colonel tags than Amarr Navy Major tags. The drop rate for those tags is about 30:20:1. Quite simply, there are more battleships in most level 4 missions than cruisers. ------------

You won't get different faction missions just because you are in a different region. Whether you are in Gallente or Minmatar space, you still get missions that mostly give Amarr tags (at least in level 4 missions). ------------

Edited by: Cyndial on 21/06/2008 20:02:25 I agree the tag requirements are ridiculous. They should make the mission system such that there is a little flexibility in the offers at the agent store where you need "250 tag points" where the mid shipman tags are 1 and the general tags are worth 15 or something of that nature.
I would love to have the ability to run my own missions and then use that mission LP and loot to get items, but I have been getting +5 implants for the last 2 months as I can't get the tags I need (I sell the +5's and buy the tags, but damn).
The system needs a little bit of a change... I've always found that point based systems work well.

After a few hundred thousand LP with Amarr I have yet to get 1 (one) mission which drops minmatar tags. I've had a few Gallente ones, but that's it.
Considering how easy it is to stock LP and since people seems to want more stuff to spend it on (LP value decreased quite a bit), why not do this: Sell tags with LP. Then we can spend our LP x2 to get our items. (/sarcasm off)

The market has absolutely nothing to do with it in this case. The tags are bought by NPCs in Navy stations for fixed prices, so it was actually a very easy job for CCP to make balanced tag requirements. How they managed to so thoroughly botch it regardless is beyond me. Only explanation I have is that not a single person on the dev team actually runs missions in a halfway professional manner.

Simple, the new militia missions. Run a few and you will be swimming in tags.

A little adjustment: Run a few and u will be swimming in pods P.S. But FW did ease getting minnie tags a tuny bit. If only FW missions didnt suck that much... ---- Drones eat everything. Trust me. |

Better running some FW complex. It seem most FW players don't take the time to loot so, if you are part of a FW fleet running complexes you have a good opportunity to collect tags.
FW missions are not done to be run solo in any reasonable length of time so they aren't convenient. The complexes require people to stay there for 10-20 minutes while the control changes, so you can take the time to loot the wrecks.

Well, as already said enemies abound 5/5. I hate that mission. But plenty of the good badges from standard/elite Battleships. Dunno if you get this mission in Amarr space, too. My Caldari Navy Agent offers it quite often to me. Same if I run missions for Republik fleet. Tons of Amarr general tags. Round about every 5-10 Missions I get one of these.
