The other night just before I went to bed I remembered a skill was due to finish in an hour or so, but can't be bothered to change it so I just changed it the next morning.
Maybe, for some people, losing 12 hour of training time in a game is not important enough to make yourself miserable in RL?

@CCP come on! Next patch notes should read like this:
"Skill training queue was implemented by popular request. You can have now 2 subsequent skills training."
Snow ball......everyone in eve would be happy to see this come about. it just makes life in eve a little more pleasant not having to worry about lvl 1-3 training skills/
or why not just have the skill keep training until you stop it, like "right click, train skill" and it dose not stop until you stop it.......that would be an com that I think every one could live with.

I have a solution for this and it works like a dream:
I got myself a Q1 ultra with integrated HSDPA modem. It can run the classic client at about 12fps (in a station) and it'll do it from wherever I can get coverage.
All I have to do is remember to pick it up when I leave...

Yes, or just have the skill continue training for the next level, once the current level ends.

I've been much less stressed about this since I started using EVE DashBoard. Highly recommende.

Yes. The real annoyance, the thing that makes me wish, wish, wish for a skill queue, is all the short skillz, the ones that takes minutes or hours to train. I can cope with long skillz just fine, ones that take days or weeks or over a month. But "finishing up" all the short ones. That sucks.

At the moment, I'm trying to decide whom to give my login information to in order to train my character while I'm gone for months for training, and maybe even years on deployment if I'm still playing ...

IIRC, It's EULA-legal to share your login with family members. If you're worried about your little brother destroying your good ships, create a trial account, make a CAREFUL note of the PW, and transfer all your stuff to that. Reactivate it when you're back from deployment.
CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you can do that. |

Yeah I am in this situation right now. Forgot to switch a skill before work this morning. now I will lose 8 hours of training time. I realize that when you start getting up to the 7+ day skills 8 hours really isn't that big of a deal but I see no need to waste time, since we essentially pay for time in the game. |

Do you also never use your video recorder's timer because it's much more clever to switch the recording on and off manually.

True. Automatic level up would be great as well, I don't care.
Examples:
a) My logistics / command - ships - alt needs all kinds of leadership skills. Level 3 of them was a **** in the ***, level 4 is even worse because I had to split it over several days each.
b) My main here is going to train up Cybernetics III for days now because I don't have a lot of time to play, I have an active social real life with my friends, girlfriends, family and my collegues from work whom I like VERY much. I have tons of SP but still can't use this +3% damage to large hybrid turrets on my mission runner alt? WTF?
Yes, I KNOW why... no skill training queue. And no, I don't want to become an asocial nerd who lives for a ******* game 24 / 7. This is a game I pay money for, it should be as hard but also as comfortable as necessary / possible.
Irony is: a skill training queue of ANY kind could not even be abused... CCP just has to implement "stop training when subscription is over". Not hard to do... I'm a developer myself and I KNOW that this would be a line of code like this one:
if (subscription.Status == SubscriptionStatus.Over) { // Iterate through all characters because the actively skilling character is unknown yet foreach (Character c in subscription.Characters) { c.PauseSkilltraining(); } }
All "zomg exploitable" - whines are obsolete now.
c) Every went on vacation? Ever got back later from partying / ******* / work / whatever than planned? Never been out "for a night" and came home three days later?
WTF do we pay in this cases our fees for?
Btw, the pure necessity of this discussion is annoying. CCP should have fixed this for many years now, this is not a question of balancing gameplay but a question of comfort and user friendliness. Like everyone would expect to have OpenOffice Writer a shortcut for saving documents.
Now, CCP? Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes -Sahwoolo Etoophie ([email protected]) |

I'm starting to get annoyed with people who are under the impression, that they pay for skill-points. You pay for access to the game, and how you use that access is up to you.
I've lost tons of SP, because my work-hours are erratic to say the least.
You know what? I'm still having fun.
This game is what you make of it, and if you turn it into: "I must have every single SP that I can get.", it will only cause you grief. And probably stress as well. ----------------------- Why is it called common sense, when it's clearly very rare. |

I have to say I don't think we should be able to queue skills. That would make it too easy. The system as it is seems fair to me. __________________

no queue prob put in for people like me.
I activate for 30 or 60 days, just as my account is about to expire I put it on a really long skill and dont play the game again till its done. With a queue, I could put in two skills and be even happier, hehe

I just passed 16mil SP so iam still fairly low, but i don't complain :D Train alot of level 5 skills myself, and i've lost 12 hours here and there. Now i just train short skills when iam online and long ones when iam off, easy as that.
Skill queue of max 1 skill + gets disabled when your Subscription runs out would bu fun but not necessary. Somebody set up us the bomb |

Edited by: AT Reynolds on 04/07/2008 02:40:16 Here's my situation: I am in another state, having left Wednesday, and will not be back for five days. I, in my less than infinite wisdom, set a skill to train for 3 days. Now what? I have 1.2m sp, and I need to be constantly training something to have any chance at getting to a point where I am useful to my alliance. I have another series of 1.5 day skills that would be a huge boost (learning skills lvl 4), BUT I have no way to get on to EvE.
If CCP could institute a system where we would be able to line up even 2 or 3 skills, it would be a huge boost to someone like me who can't always be right there (but really wishes he was).
I think the best way CCP could work this is to make us able to line up 2-3 skills, but have the training pause or drop back to 0 if the account expires. It would prevent exploiters from training to Capitals 5 and walking away, while also helping relatively new players like myself avoid losing valuable training time crucial in the 1st few months.
for the record, I have only been playing EvE for 2.5 weeks, and even a relative n00b like me can see this need

as much as i want a skill queue, i have to say that your reason for wanting one is not the correct one. there are many valid reasons, specially those regarding unexpected server malaties. but forgetting to change a skill is not really a good one.

No, it wouldn't. It would make this game more comfortable.
The difficulty of a game must NEVER be defined by the obstacles the user interface throws into your way. User interfaces in games must be as comfortable and accessible as possible.
Difficulty comes via content, in Eve this is the case (although the blob 'n' lag - 0.0 - situation is, tbh, unbearable as well). ---
