Hasn't been officially released yet (although it's close). Having read TonyG's previous work in Ruthless and Theodicy was reason enough for me to preorder it. I'm hoping it's delivered before the weekend.

Well someone would need to be bloody fast to have read it already as its only 50 mins ago it turned June 19th, which is the day it is released.

It's the first Eve novel--what do you mean, "is it worth it"?
Unless you have no interest in the setting of Eve and its back-story, (ie: no soul), it's worth it.

I am not sure I will order the book myself.
I did not think TonyG's previous stuff fits very well to the EVE universe, which I feel should be close to realistic military/political scifi rather than the epic alien superbeing conspiracies being behind it all style he writes in.
And I even less like the idea that we have to pay for the book that is not even out yet to get the backstory behind the game events that are out already. An alliance mate called it "holding our RP hostage" and that's how it feels to me. It makes me contrary to the whole idea of paying for it.
Then again if you ignore the fact that Theodicy is supposed to be EVE backstory, it not half bad brainless pulp sf - might make good reading for the summer.

I feel the same way. I'll wait and see what people say about it. If it is a plot driven by ancient super-beings I will pass on it. -------------------

Amazon.co.uk say delivery time is 19th - 20th June. Yet it is not yet dispatched.
If it was to be delivered today or tomorrow I would hope it had already been dispatched, that is why I pre-ordered it in the first place!
From this sign I reckon there will be a delay before we actually receive our 'pre-ordered' book.

Delivered to them at Amazon. After that they will dispatch it to you.
I pre-ordered, I thought Theodicy was awesome. Shame I have to wait over a week for it to get to Australia.
Still, gives me time to finish Matter.

Well, citizen, if the interweb says "buy it now" then this is what you do.

I'm quite frustrated by this. Whenever I've pre-ordered anything from Amazon it's normally posted the day before release for delivery on release day.
I was expecting the same with this book, but have I received anything? No. Not a thing and today is still shown as the release date but it says "not yet released" or something similar to that.

Well I've just walked up to my local Waterstones, and they tell me the book has been delayed at the publishers and they don't know when they would be getting it

I've preordered it from amazon but just canceled my pre-order today since it hasn't been shipped yet and now I can get it faster in any normal bookshop... I'm only glad I noticed because at the bookshop I also won't be paying the crazy price for having it shipped express.
I though amazons pre-order service was better then that tbh... last time i ordered a book pre-order (express delivery) i got it delivered on the day of the official release.. in this case however i would have had to wait another 4-7 days from tomorrow on AND pay more money for delivery then for the actual product.
Ah well.. guell I'll support my local bookshop in that case.

But from what it looks like when I've spoken to my local bok shop when they checked their database it isn't Amazon's fault the book is with you yet.

I hope your bookshop was just lying to you or something... otherwise it means my bookshop was lying to me about having it in stock by the beginning of next week.
I think I'll have to test my new not-so-smart-bomb on someone if I don't get the book soon... I want backstory and I want it yesterday!

I bought it today, only one in my local waterstones (which is only a small shop so I was surprised they had it at all). Read a few chapters and it's very good so far, should keep me busy for the next few days as the book itself is pretty big.

You would need to call around to see who can get it in for you.
If you don't want to order it from the UK, you can use the American Amazon website, or probably a wide range of other online book stores. Just search for it by the ISBN 978-0575082687.
Personally, I used Amazon.ca as they offered free shipping on my order.
