In the new Trailer I just watched..I could swear it shows an Abaddon taking out a Titan multiple carriers and a few battleships in one shot.
What was he using and can I cross train to use it?

Am I the only one who didn't like the trailer? I LOVED every trailer up till now, but this latest one...It was a point of pride for me to say 'CCP doesn't need to rely on animators to make their trailers, everything is in game! Take that Blizzard!'
And that gun that the Abaddon fired...that's gotta be the stupidest looking weapon i've ever seen! Any of the doomsdays look cooler then that thing. If the Abaddon fired off the Avatar's dd...THAT would have been cool.

No you are not alone on this , no disrespect for the artists ,it looks really good
and professional ,but it dosent feels right at all , and that ridiculous weapon ,
looked really cheap when he took the whole fleet in one shot .
it lacks the epic feeling of the previous trailers .

Yeah, the way it appeared in the video is what made me think 'strangelets' - first, the Abaddon projects a contained ball of energy, safely away from its own hull, then fires it into the biggest source of mass, causing it to spread to nearby masses. Exotic particle weapons rule :|

This would also fit together with the 'Armageddon Project' Chronicle, that states that the Jovians (might) have developed a weapon that is capable of destroying whole planets.

Seriously though the trailer isnt what's important, its the game itself and tbh i think CCP have done a good job on the expansion.
This new trailer had a very Homeworld 2 feel about it, though personaly i do prefer the trailers showing real gameplay.

It'll probably be a one off thing and if in game at all used by a storyline character. It wont be usable by players (I hope). One thing i love in EVE is that there isn't one weapon that is the only viable thing to train towards that out modes every other thing around. Everything has its roles and use within the game depending on your ship and fittings.

You realize all of the trailers related to this expansion where faked right?
Parts of them were faked for obvoius reasons but to the most part they were real.

The last 2 Teasers for the FW expansion were roleplay movies to kick off the conflicts a bit more visual. All prevous expansion trailers were ingame footage or future content. To keep this line, ccp has to improve planets, explosions and to implement the blue ball thingie.
Its a good movie, but i dont believe that we will get this weapon which makes the movie some kind of crap. Its losing the flair of the other trailers.
Take the No Other Destiny trailer. What if the shown Titan wasnt ingame? The trailer would be a waste of bandwidth.

Think about this for a minute. CCP has stated they aren't happy with sov mechanisms, and with introduction of capturable low-sec space we might well see something similar implemented for 0.0 on a larger scale.
What would happen? You would get blobs trying to knock over fixed installations. The center of any major fleet blob is the capital group. One way to encourage breaking groups into smaller fleets for objectives would be to create a battleship-deployable anti-cap weapon with DD like properties. Keeping all your caps in one place would become too much of a liability and force blocs to split into smaller groups.

Perhaps it is a T2 abaddon? The real T2 ship won't be that powerful, but maybe it has a chain dmg type weapon for taking out nano fleets. :)

I believe the weapon is covered in the book. The weapon was reversed engineered from Terran technology by recovering Terran artifacts near the EVE gate.
