Tbh i think this is preq for his investment opportunity that will turn out to be a scam :P
If you actually read his post you'll see he exploited a market to do with FW that's more or less no longer there. This experiment isn't repeatable.
True, however, the Eve Economy is rather large and complex. I have yet to find a region where I have't been in a week or more where I can't make 100 mill profit with 50 mill base capital in just a few hours.
I have the advantage of having nearly all marketing skills maxxed, and scrapmetal 5 though, what he did was find a niche and hit it hard before others moved in on it :) What I do is take advantage of people not wanting to move their loot, or placing their sell orders only a little above the highest buy orders.
An example:
One of the Zor implants is a market item. with perfect refine they refines into 2 mega, 2 zyd, and 2 something else (Nocx? Iso?) It's a market glutted item, anyone that wants one probably has one. Someone had a buy order out for 1500 isk each. I saw roughly 50 of them out there for sale for less than 10k isk each, some as low as 1600 isk. 2 mega and two zyd for less than 10k isk *snap* bought them up. They were located all over the place, so I just let them sit, while I processed through every other module and compared sell prices to mineral value. When I ran out of isk, I went out and collected the nearby large collections in an industrial, refined, sold the minerals, and started again. On that day I started with 100 mill, and ended with 400 mill in about 9 hours. It takes a few days for the market to recover sufficiently for this process to yield good money again, so I moved to another region the next day, and another the day after that. In three days I made about 600 mill profits.
Some people do this passively with open orders. That's great. I do it actively, and get a lot of great deals, but it can be very tedious, so on some days I just go and blow stuff up. It also helps a LOT to have a refining calculator spreadsheet. I currently use EVE-Meep, which isn't ideal for my needs, but can be made useful. My old Excel sheet was MUCH better, but it had some old mineral contents and volume data which were throwing me off, and recently it was lost in a computer failure anyhow :(
