What about 64 bit support?
1.Updated client via in-game patch, messed up the client, with repair tool included. 2. Uninstall 3. Tried reinstall from site, installer buggy. 4. Downloaded the 3 install files, run the installer. Install completed. 5. Trying to run the game without success: unsupported 16 bit application. Come on, i cannot believe it that you've deployed without 64 bit support....
When the fix? Not a workaround....
Thanks.
PS: actually test before deploying, do not make the users test it for you, is not elegant this way at all.... We pay you to deliver a working product. |

The issue you are experiencing has nothing to do with 64 bit support. There are currently 37 000 players online TQ, a lot of them are running on a 64 bit OS. What you are experiencing is something else. Have you tried rebooting your computer and then without starting any eve client or anything else, run the repair tool. The reason why you will have to reboot is to make sure that there are no locked files from other programs. Please let me know how that works for you. Same thing with your instructions. Fresh reinstall, run a clean repair. Afterwards the same 16-bit application error. It shows in application log: Log Name: Application Source: Wow64 Emulation Layer Date: 3/14/2012 1:02:56 AM Event ID: 1109 Task Category: None Level: Information Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: ptr-PC Description: The program or feature "\??\G:\Program Files (x86)\eve\launcher\launcher.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatibity with 64-bit versions of Windows. Can you try downloading this http://cdn1.eveonline.com/350962/EVEOnlineLauncherInstaller.exe and applying that to the client where you have a broken Launcher
Does that enable you to start the Launcher?[/quote
Started today with \bin\ExeFile.exe , it asked about an update. downloaded it Eve online Launcher v1.09 started, after about an hour watching the progress bar of 1/3: Creating EVE_Online_350962-351477.patch going from 0% to 25% then back to 0%, i have given up
Also tried this one http://cdn1.eveonline.com/350962/EVEOnlineLauncherInstaller.exe, seams the same v1.09 launcher that is looping at 25%
Now is really unplayable, even \bin\ExeFile.exe is nocure since it asks about the update, ending up in the loop. Will try a reboot and run again
PS Just an observation.. I do not know what you have done to the launcher files, i have checked today the launcher.exe and launcher_console.exe. The header in hexa now is 4D5A which is usually a classical exe. Back when the launcher was not working i am sure that it was something else in the header because i have checked it.

Read about the ESET AV thing. Have it myself. Disabled all AV solution including protocol content filtering, uninstall eve, reinstall a fresh one. Started as usual, it updated itself, launcher worked, updated the game to last version. Game launched successfully.
Case closed. I consider EVE<->ESET faulty working together as the root cause of 3 days of debugging.
