Doesn't matter what race you use. They are 95% identical with different models/textures and shooting effects. __________________________________________________________

The Vasari are pretty overpowered. Once I have about 6 planets and 2-3 phase stabs on each planet I am pretty much impossible to defeat anymore unless I play a 2v2 or 3v3 and my allies are totally idiots and getting attacked with combined forces. They are talking to do some modifications in 1.1. Hopefully they will be optimizing the connection with the other players because not once when I was dominating I had the network window come up with myself "migrating", then getting a point to disco rather than victory _________________________________

Edited by: Bishop White on 23/06/2008 06:02:39 Sins is the best 4X sci-fi strategy game since Stars! and I am really looking forward to some of the major enhancements they have indicated are in the works.
BTW: Has anyone downloaded the free Sins of a Solar Empire Windows theme from Stardock? I usually don't go for that stuff but it is rather nice. It gives Windows a neat sci-fi look that goes well with any EVE player's PC.
Speaking of all this Sins stuff, I think I'll go play it until these DC issues are resolved.

I personally like the advent the best but I htink they're a bit overpowered. The vasari are great with the phase-jump link structures, and returning armada, but Advent ships are just insanely powerful. The illuminator frigates do ridiculous DPS and when fully upgraded and paired with several motherships and carriers for boosting and shield help, they're nigh-unstoppable.
I also enjoy playing TEC though, if only for the massive income you can generate. It's always nice being rich :)

I got it over the weekend and I have to say I love it. Im currently playing against the computer and I really am impressed with the AI. Total of 10 players (1 player, 9 AI's) across 5 solar systems. I love the map maker and how you can have a perverbal galaxy to play in.
What I really love is how this game seems to be a blend of chess, risk and RTS.
I actually want to either make or find a massive map of the closest thing to a galaxy (atleast 30-50 systems, small, medium and large systems), place maybe 12 total individuals (1 player, 11 AI) and see what happens. I would image that towards the end it would be quite an interesting situation.
I havent tryed the other races yet but I like the TEC so far. Reason being is that ive established this world that I have 3 cannons in orbit and repeatedly use it to bombard my enemies other worlds with. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

I build tons of the TEC uber weapons then just leave them on auto-fire. I just started so they are the only race I've used.

Mos def a great game, I think one of the best of the year.
I prefer the Advent... most of my games w/ friends have been us against the comp and have envolved nights after nights of the same map and game.
Good stuff.

TEC, nothing like playing a good 500 planet map and spreading across the galaxy in a swarm of human made ships ^_^, cant remember the name of it but theres a mod floating around out there that drastically increases the logistics cap (like by 3 times or somthing close to it) and oh my god then the battles become truely epic

Played it for awhile, it was fun.
Then you realize that the only way to enjoy/win the game is by going Military.
Also, every race is the same as the others.
And finally, if you play a game like civ 4, you can actually win by going something other than military.

So is Sins basically a newer version of Star Reach/Space Fed on *****? I've checked out the demo and the graphics aren't up to par for a $40 game. I hope the actual gameplay is 10x better because It makes me feel like I'm playing a 5-6 year old game.

thought this game sucked tbh
playing this game felt the same as when i played genesis rising hoping for another homeworld game and getting badly thought out drek.
the graphics in sins arent up to par the research tree is tiny its a 4x game in the same way that C&C is but fails on all the strategy C&C incorporates. The occasional huge maps are wasted due to the small unit cap often your fleets will be outmaneuvered simply becouse space is so big and your ships are so few, fortunatly this is compensated for by the stupid overpowered(turrets)+underpowered(fighters/bombers) defences and superweapons.
i was hoping for a great space game i played for about 4-5 hours shut it in a drawer and it hasnt come out since

Not true, I won an entire solar system with minimal military might simply because the one planet I had in that system I had several broadcast towers in with rebellion research in it. By the time I sent my fleet in to the neighbouring planet had long sence rebelled against its other empire and the rebel ships had been most effective in wiping out the structures and ships that were there. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

I think it can only be accessed through Sins. When you register your game, you gain access to Stardock and the free Sins Window Theme pack (and if I'm not mistaken, I think you need to have downloaded Sins via Stardock to get the theme pack).
