Edited by: Gryphonhawk on 15/05/2004 15:14:06 There I was happily mining in Rokofur (0.6 space) and suddenly the 9 players of Cinders turn up and 'lay claim' to the sector, threatening to blow up those who dont leave. Me, being slightly new to the game, said something along the lines of 'come and have a go if you think your hard enough' and gave them my location, thinking concord would blow them to bits..... Next thing i know im in my pod, in the station, as they continue to 'claim' the sector...
So, who are these guys, how did they do what they did, and can they be declared cowards for attacking poorly armed miners in a relactively worhtless sector?

Tough break guy. No doubt they were well armed and could deal with concord. It only takes one of their guys to shoot someone and get attacked, but the rest are un hurt.

By some peoples measuring stick, yes. By others, no. Depends on your point of view. After all, they did attack in supposedly secure space so they were willing to take the risk. But if they were in battleships and shot a little frig like a probe, I just think that is a little on the lame side. If they attacked in another frig, then they are showing some chest hair. ------

With the green text they were using it looked like it was a Polaris event.

And on closer inspection of the cinders corps a few things dont quite fit. All of thier members had joined on the same day, at the time the corps was created and thier standings could not be viewed. Also, their only security status change was caused by GM intervention. To top it all off, when i relogged I also still had my maller that they had destroyed....

If the text is green (or teal as some say) it is polaris, they do event that we can participate in. Those are made in a roleplaying manner, and they dont answer to IRL questions. Sometimes they fly strange looking ships, and they really know how to use those.
And if you told them to come and kill you, and they do... Whos fault is that?
As a footnote. Polaris is outside Concord jurisdiction, they can do pretty much what they want, and you can do pretty much what you want with them. "The door swings both ways" as they say. /Cocytus ============================================== Cocytus, the ninth circle of hell.

No-one decided to go and 'grief' some players, this is part of a story arc that was executed under the same supervision that exists for other events.
If you have any concerns about this event in general, feel free to drop me an email at [email protected]

Some facts that have not been given concerning ISD (Polaris) Events,
1. They offer you a chance to leave or fight. If you stay , that means you wish to fight.
2. It seems all characters are created specifically for the event (all born on same date and all have identical skills. So a 2 day old character is as dangerous as 1 year old character in theory)
3. If you manage to kill them off , they will drop mods that are not usually given from npc rats. (Look at what they are hitting with from damage logs)
4. If they are Events players (teal text) Concord will not touch you for touching them.
Your Mega Afocal Pulse Maser I perfectly strikes Asteroid (Veldspar) [R0ME], wrecking for 798.3 damage.
Your 425mm Railgun I perfectly strikes Guardian Captain, wrecking for 685.9 damage.

Hahahahahah you're all metagaming powerplayers ! Seriously tho, if 9 guys show up and claim a system and say they'll kill everyone do you really think the smartest move is to trust the COPS ??
Oh yeah 5 guys with shotguns are here, I think I'll insult their mothers and tell them to come get some.. (because there's a cop nearby..)
Cool event, wish I'd been there to fight them!

Slightly off topic but I've seen this a couple of times and was wondering:
1. How do you save a chat log?
2. Now this new one how do you save/see damage log?
3. What other logs are there?
Thanks...

WTG on creating a neat event, Seems like when you see green text threatening you, It's best to make like Paul Revere and warn people of the inbound badguys.
Glad you posted. If for no other reason the to let people know more about polaris events.

Look in you Cache folder in the Eve folder. There you will find the logs.
You do not have to specifically save a log but once in a while (e.g. after patches) you should use a program like Eve-dude to clear your Cache folder of excess files

I looked in the cache folder but don't see any logs, which folder are they in and do they have a different name or something?
