Ok, so after the patch i attempted to do the following:
Launch my client and let it do whatever it wanted to do to update itself, this ended up in my game files becoming corrupt. I ran the repair tool and this worsened the problem.
I just downloaded a fresh copy of the client from the EVE Website and installed it. After attempting to launch the game i am met with the following error:
"The program or feature "\??\C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\launcher\launcher.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatibity with 64-bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available."
I cannot launch the Launcher.exe either it says it is not compatible with 64bit windows. |

Running the repair tool on a fresh UNTOUCHED install produces this error:

Launching the game using the Exefile.exe file in EVE/bin worked successfully. Is this going to cause problems patching later?? we'll find out. |

After having to download and reinstall the game completely last night just to find the only way i can launch the game is using the .exe in the eve/bin folder. This latest patch is now preventing me from playing.
CCP no longer allow manual download of patches.
I cant launch this ****** launcher because of what i said in my previous posts. The repair tool does absolutely nothing except give me an error after i close it at the point where it tells me repair was successful. I tried downloading the most recent repair tool from another thread and it did the exact same thing. |

I have tried the following and nothing has allowed me to launch the game through normal means:
Rebooting and running the repair tool.
Downloading the most recent version of the repair tool through links by Dev's on these forums.
Reinstalling the game completely after downloading the 2 payloads via the website because i was UNABLE to download using the installer alone. (Does anything work properly?)
Running the repair tool exe with the following added "repair.exe --buildno=306979" and "repair.exe --buildno:306979"

Hi again,
Can you run the repair tool again, let it error and without closing it or clicking OK on the error box: Navigate to the folder where it puts the log and paste the error you're getting here.
This would be extremely helpful! Associate Technical Producer - Core Technology Group |

I am having the same problems, I couldn't patch, couldn't repair, couldn't re install. I have gone as far as reformatting at this point. I am also using Windows 7 64 bit. I am in the process of downloading the game now as I am typing this after my reformat Trying to make eve the first thing I install. But my problems are very similar as described in the thread below.
This is getting very furstrating since the game was working just fine before the patch and now I cant even install it. I am almost about to give up and request my money back since I have paid for the next few months. |

Hi Jack,
Thanks for helping out. We haven't been able to reproduce this issue inhouse yet and this is very much a top priority for us to resolve.
Can you create a shortcut to your repair tool and run it with --dlthreads=1
at the end.
So the entire path should look something like this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\repair.exe" --dlthreads=1
See if that changes anything for you or if you get the same error. Associate Technical Producer - Core Technology Group |

It was actually downloading data showing that i was missing blocks this time, something it was not doing before. Still unable to launch via the .exe because of incompatibility. |

Jack,
Can you zip up the Launcher folder and put it on evefiles or some other file sharing page so that I can have a closer look?
Then please delete the following files:
launcher\launcher.exe launcher\launcher_console.exe launcher\library.zip launcher\html\launcher.css
And rerun the repair tool with the safemode and the dlthread=1 options.
This might actually make it work for you. Associate Technical Producer - Core Technology Group |

I am unable to upload a file of this size, if Nautonnier Scrip could possibly do it it would be best! or i can just upload select files but not the entire folder.

When telling me how many blocks were missing for those 4 files you noted, it said 8/8 missing etc, so entire files missing.

i HAD the same or almost the same errors lines ended with messages like: TypeError: Error while decompressing: 1 FileSyncError: data corruption
those errors were on my clean install (got the 349998 client) i had errors at the end of patching and my launcher wasnt working at all (before 350962 patch i could play using exe from /bin folder, but not after 350962 update)
what i did 1. uninstall eve (cloaning all cache and settings); uninstalled my av software (eset ss 5.0) - earlier i was disabling protection and firewall this could be an issue 2. restart (to finish uninstalling) 3. turn off every additional software (xfire, jabber client etc) 4. fresh eve install 349998 and autoupdate
everything is working atm i hope it will still work with new patches after i install AV software (cant say if its AV software fault, i dont have notifications, and i didnt checked av log) People are going to try to ruin your day. Get together with others, ruin their day back - this is EvE |

All I did now was uninstalling ESET. Running repair.exe --safemode --dlthreads=1 worked. Dont think adding those commands are required tho. AV issue.

I wonder if I will get 2-3 extra days to my accounts? I wonder if they will reimburse me for the ISK loss right now when I cant make any ISK? I guess not, but yeah, it's CCP we're talking about... |

Hi all,
Thanks for all your help! I am happy to hear that we have found at least one solution to this problem. If you do not have ESET NOD32 installed and still have the problem, please reply to this thread.
Those of you who have it installed and have disabled the protocol filtering, will everything work now for you and you are able to log into EVE Online? Please let us know that you're not running into any other issues on the way. Associate Technical Producer - Core Technology Group |

Repair tool doesn't work, launcher fails with update. I run Microsofts Antivirus.
Short answers though an odd issue still.
Have you tried shutting down any and all background programs, followed by a clean reinstall (or at least repair with the latest repair?)
besides microsoft security essentials (which is what everyone should run for a "FREE" AV), we need to remove all possible program variables to figure out whats wrong.
99% Chance CCP is not to blame and even if they were, there is no way they can test all possible software/os combinations for their launcher/programs. Sometimes something stupid can screw things up with downloads/executions. (Xfire sometimes, for me MSI Afterburner is breaking things, so it is not always CCP's fault as the Launcher worked flawlessly on multiple systems for me) |

Having the same issue. Running Windows 7 64 bit. Repair tool (latest version) completes, but doesn't fix the launcher or the exe. I had the same problem. Windows 7 64 bit. The repair tool completes then throws an error when closing, and the patcher crashes as previously described, with the following log :
Exception in thread Thread-1: Traceback (most recent call last): File "threading.pyc", line 530, in __bootstrap_inner File "threading.pyc", line 483, in run File "zsync\readFromUrl.pyc", line 117, in DownloadPart File "zsync\readFromUrl.pyc", line 136, in _DownloadPart File "zsync\zsync.pyc", line 762, in callback FileSyncError: data corruption
I've now fixed it though. The ESET posts before made me think that firewalls might be involved. I was behind an Untangle Corporate Firewall (which has never been a problem for patching in the past). So I VPNed out to Los Angles (VyprVPN), and presto, the patcher works.
Looks to me like a firewall incomatibility glitch (possibly in combination with Win7 64), combined with bad error messages. |

Hi,
Can you try to
1. Open the eve client directory, 2. Open the launcher subdirectory 3. Delete the cache folder. 4. Open this in a browser http://client.eveonline.com/patches/win_launcherinfoTQ_inc.txt 5. Force refresh the page (CTRL+F5) 6. Start the Launcher again
Please let us know how that works.

Curious.
Who is your Internet Provider?
What Modem/Router are you using?
Do you have any software firewall outside of Windows 7's built in firewall enabled?
I am curious as to why CCP would change the Patch Download ports and such from the previously working patcher's, (if that is infact the case). But either way, new change is always a bit buggy for any game that makes a big change for the future. Go play some EA games with Origin and see how you hate CCP then. :P |

I deleted the whole client to try a fresh install. But now I can't even download the client. I tried the automatic installer from the account management and the manual one (executable). But they don't work. I get the error "An unknown error occured while downloading the installer payload." after selecting a directory to install in. |

He already RageDeleted everything. If he can get the full client downloaded he will still need to patch it. :/
Now if you download the client file, and it gives you an error for being corrupt or anything before even reaching the patcher, you have a problem with your system and not CCP. |

Crap happens. Though this launcher is sort of needed and will definitely improve over time. Every MMO out there has one now and while there are times of pain (I had a run with WoW years ago and discovered my Ram was not stable in my Overclock which caused the hash checks to error out every time which was painful with 6+G downloads). Once all the bugs are ironed out it will be 95% network/system issues. Hopefully they do add a torrent form of patching to help those with direct server issues and overall lighten the server load while having good integrity check built in. |

Odd but where does it fail, in the downloading phase or the patching phase. One can be a networking/connection issue, the other could be a system stability issue that may not even crop up during a reformat/reinstall. (I have seen it many times) |

Same. I had a load of exception errors earlier, saw the note on anti-virus software, but I don't have any. Restarted pc, tried the repair tool - nothing so ended up uninstalling and trying to reinstall via online downloader - however, this keeps failing and directing me to the manual links which have also just failed. Getting frustrated now as everything worked fine before patches and launcher and other people seem to have it working just fine. |

I too am getting the missing or corrupt file issue when downloading. This seems to be a CCP server issue as the downloader loses connection with your server (timeouts). The only other resolution to this is putting the client update on a torrent site to download or some other storage site. |

Add my name to the list of people with patching issues. I now have more than one useless installation of EVE; one set on 64-bit, with the incompatibility issue, the other set on 32 bit with no reaction at all. Repair tool flunks out with some errors, downloading (3rd time since the new launcher!) the game client fails as well.
Frankly, I do not want to pay for a game that I have to download and re-install every time I want to play or whenever there's an update. This has been the case ever since the new launcher came out. Before that I've never had an issue.
I've opened a petition and I will wait for the response, but I've got to admit I am rather de-motivated at this point.

Has anyone had any luck with this?
I'm getting sick of this. ever since the launcher, every update has been a painful process. I would always have to reinstall the game. and the installer always says to install manually. then I go and download the payload files. there was this one file that always stopped at 1.1 g (but is actually 2.2 g). and I'm sure its not my internet connection, I have a very fast connection (20mbps, 50mbs within SG) and downloading other bigger files was not a problem. This has been the scenario for me every single update. and today, I am having the same fcking issue. i click on launcher and it updates and then it says its incompatible with my windows version. If I run exefile directly, it *seems* to work fine. I am getting tired of all this BS that you are releasing. I have a notebook and a desktop both 64bit win7 i7 and its the same fcking problem. Please do your job CCP and give us a working game. I usually spend 10 -15 minutes a day to play this game because of some personal stuff I have to attend to at the moment and I cant hang around for hours trying to figure out how to get this to work so that my money wont go to waste because my character is not training any skills. This kind of response is acceptable if its an isolated issue. but a lot of us are encountering this sh*t of a problem. These problems should have been caught during testing so you don't release this crap on us. its not like we are running P4s on our grandma's 486, these are new hardware that should have been tested with your fcking launcher before it was released.
arggh so pissed off. you know how to take our money but not how to do your job. |

Anyhow i managed to get EVE working again. Thankfully I had long skill queues. After multiple client downloads and running the repair, I can get it to run on Win7 64 bit pro.
Even then CCP, this isn't cool, you wanna keep tabs on this issue. |

After two fresh reinstalls and useless repairs the only thing that worked was launching the bin/ExeFile.exe manually. Don't want to redownload 5 Gb every time a minor patch is made, please fix the launcher. |

Delete all file in the folder: GǪ\eve\bulkdata.
Windows touche + R
On Windows 7 1 GÇô Open Start -> and write CMD.exe press enter. 2 GÇô navigate to the eve folder, in my case it was: cd \Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE 3 GÇô Write the following ***** line: GÇ£repair.exe GÇôsafemode GÇôignore=*.stuffGÇ¥
Source: http://www.evenews24.com/2012/04/03/psa-getting-verification-failed-off-the-new-patch-heres-is-a-work-around/
Now game work for me after 4 hours for finds a solution.

I FIXED an issue with WINDOWS 7 X64. I tried to run eve after the launcher was updated. Launcher wouldn't run at all. No error, no nothing.
Repair tool looked like it worked, but tried to run launcher again, and still nothing.
Tried clearing launcher cache... nothing.
Reinstall game... nothing.
FINALLY, I went into the \launcher\cache\ folder and ran updater.exe on a whim, and installed in my eve online install folder. Everything is dandy now.
Hope this helps someone. I approve of this message... |

launcher will tell you it is working, but evefile is not really working, so keep mashing that repair program till it runs out :D

Having been unable to play game since the patch, finally got it working yesterday after uninstalling ESET Smart Security 5 and updating the game. Played for a couple of hours.
Logged in today, the launcher "updated" when I ran it and I now get the "Unsupported 16 bit Application" error people highlighted earlier.
Repair tool runs fine with no problems.
Seems like my launcher version has been updated to something that Windows 7 (i'm on 64 bit) refuses to run.
Any help appreciated.

Also should say that as mentioned above, I can get the client to run ONLY through bypassing the launcher in the using the exe in the /bin directory.
Launcher however will not run no matter how many repairs, and reinstalls take place. |

For those of you who are experiencing this issue, delete the Launcher folder manually under C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE or where you have EVE installed. Then run the repair tool.
If there is something preventing you from running the repair tool, such as firewall or antivirus program, then I am afraid that you might need to download the full installer and reinstall the game. Associate Technical Producer - Core Technology Group |

Yeah, I tried it. Same thing. Error trying to create a shortcut. And after that the launcher error came up again.
I downloaded the actual patch manually as well, but have no way to use it since the launcher also did the manual patching, and the launcher no longer works.

Looking at your logs it looks like there is a config.ini file in your eve folder which seems to be breaking the Launcher. It might because the Launcher is unable to read/index the file.
There is no config.ini in the EVE install that I know of so it is most likely other software or you who has put it there.
Please do the following:
1. Make a copy of the config.ini file 2. Attach it in a bug report https://bugs.eveonline.com/newbugreport.asp 3. Mark the title with "Launcher errors on config.ini - For CCP Mandrake" 4. Delete the file from your EVE client 5. Start the game using eve.exe again

Here I come, once again, to hopefully save the day... I decided to copy the launcher folder off of a Windows Vista x86 installation, and replace mine with it. Everything worked fine after replacing it.
I have uploaded said folder to EVE Files available HERE
Just delete the launcher folder in your EVE install folder, and replace it with the extracted launcher folder. It worked like a charm for me. CCP if you would like, I could upload the folder that exists after running the repair tool. It seems that the issue, for me anyway, is in the launcher folder, and is for some reason different on a Vista install than a Windows 7 x64 install.
I hope this helps. I approve of this message... |

Alright here you go CCP - DETAILS
*Please note that this problem didn't start for me after the initial inferno patch. It's started after one of the smaller follow up patches.
When launching EVE - I get this launcher related error -> LAUNCHER ERROR
After which I run the repair tool, and it completes without a problem -> REPAIR TOOL RESULTS
I then try running eve again, and it updates the launcher -> PATCHING
Immediately, we are back to step 1 -> LAUNCHER ERROR
Note that I have also deleted the launcher folder as instructed to let the client install a fresh launcher. This doesn't change anything.
As others have mentioned, I CAN in fact run EVE directly through the executable in the BIN folder. Trying to run it correctly through the launcher however gives me the results you can see above. |

When I launch the game, the screen flashes and I come back to Windows, I can hear the login page music and see the EVE tab but when I click on it my cursor diseapears and nothing else happens. The only way to get rid of the EVE tab is to ctrl+alt+del and kill the process.
I tried cleaning the cash, uninstalling + re-download the game, nothing works. I'm using AVG Antivirus so I cant uninstall it from my laptop. I'm on windows 7 btw.

Hey Moe,
Sounds like you might want to try re-installing Direct X9 on your laptop. The easiest way would be to run the DirectXRedist.exe in the bin directory of the game. I think that will re-install it for ya.
Good luck! |
