Ok so i'm making this post just to warn people that Tyd Drakken does not honor his ransoms as he agreed to 250 mil not to blow up my Navy issue megathron but the loss mail I now have would disagree with that :)

It's really a shame that people no longer honor a ransom but ahh well just thought I would warn you guys :)

I didn't see the word Ransom in that exchange.
I saw you offer him 250 mil, and him saying 'yeah' as in 'yeah, that would be nice :)' and then you ask if he agrees (to what?) and he says yes, then you sent ISK and he thanked you (very polite).
If I'm killing you and I don't TELL you to pay me, then it's not a ransom. If you don't ask for a ransom (read: use the words "Would you accept a ransom to let me go?") it's not a ransom, it's just ISK you felt like giving me.

I really do hate it when people try to justify that kind of crap with a "OOOOOOOOOOOOH, he never really said..."
On the other hand, the advice I would give is don't offer to be ransomed.
If he convo's you though, regardless to language or loopholes or whatever crap he uses, he ought to just honor the ransom. That way he isn't getting named and shamed and unable to get quality ransoms again (should he try).

In no place in that convo from what you placed on the forum did it said *250mill for YOU *NOT* to *blow up* my ship*
In terms of the person killing you, he probably saw that as "O a free killmail on a navy megathron AND + this guy is offering me 250mill, yet he is not asking 250mill not to blow up his ship, o well."
Now I also agree most people would consider that as a ransom right off the bat.
But again, you didn't exactly specify that 250mill would be payed as ransom to save your ship :S
Therefor, I don't see how exactly he dishonored a ransom.

There is no ransom. The guy offered him 250 million, no ransom was spoken of, and the other guy accepted it. Then he popped the navy mega and looted the delicious insides, so the net profit is 250 million over what he would have expected.

A normal ransom, as far as Ghost Festival goes (if we do ransom), will go like this:
1) WE WILL OPEN A CHAT REQUEST
2) xxx ISK for your ship and pod (pay us xxx amount of isk, and you keep your ship and pod)
3) Pay us and leave, immediately. You have 15 minutes to GTFO of our region. If we see you again, you will either be ransomed again, or killed.
Don't get too down and out about it, and don't offer people money if they don't ask for it, especially pirates

He never intended to ransom you! Not like he was obliged to :) . Possible reason for that ...
1. A lone Navy Mega on 0.4 system attracts a lot of attention very fast, only a (short)matter of time before bigger fish would come and steal his prize or at least make him share it...
2. Maybe he was afraid you had backup on the way..
3. Maybe he had bad experiences with failed ransoms ...
4. Maybe he scanned your ship and decided your modules are just to juicy ... (your sudden and uncalled for ISK offer meant that your ship was loaded)
5. Maybe he just wanted a fancy kill mail, maybe he just wanted to grief you (bad pirate :) )...
....
And to this man, the man that was gonna pop your Navy Mega anyway since he asked no ransom, you offered a 250 mil ISK bonus(must be real proud ).
And really the missing part of your post(which all of us can't wait to hear) describes the reason you took your flashy Navy Mega(possibly faction fitted) into a low sec system... (its the only thing that can make this thread better and call for more lols )

Never offer ransom to a pirate, allthough the loophole isnt a loophole this pirate knew exactly what you meant by the terms of sending the 250mil he just sounds like an ass. Offering ransom is a no-go tho, most people dont care about ransom unless they offer it.
Was pirating once and cought an indy with 89k zydrine and 36k mega inside it, as soon as we engaged it he shouted "NO" in local and sent Dell (partner) 100mil, we knew what it was for but we blew him up anyway knowing his cargohold was without a doubt full of goodies. Difference is......we sent the 100mil back.
