If there is something that we could name "endgame", 3 to 4 years is a bit low in time :)
I'm playing for over 3 years and still have a lot of skills to do .. and that are only combat related skills, i have (very low) no industry skills. I would go for 7 to 10 years ^^ (not to mention that we get new skills sometimes)
I'm 27 btw

EvE needs Thargoids!
CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you can do that. |

I'm 17, I recently added time onto my account to upgrade it from a trial account, I'll be turning 18 next year in March, and I've played WoW and a dozen of other MMO's (Including AoC).

I'm 17 and proud of being young.
Though I think EvE has a good balance of old and young. Though I cannot stand old peoples attitudes who feel that young people are a plague on EvE.

I think part of it is the market, most young-uns see that and go "eeeeewww a spreadsheet, like in comp class" and skitter away to WoW or Hello Kitty. The few we are left with tend to be the ones who can actually plan and learn. This is a game that rewards patience.

Yep one of my RL mates said "lol EvE, aint that the game that requires excel to play?" simple response was that if I wanted to achieve the most out of what I had going that extra mile and planning is great. So if i want to win in EvE I plan.
The same mate also tried to say wow pvp was more skillfull because EvE has very little line of sight.

Oh yeah.. that. And the 4 pages of WoW hate suddenly make EVE community to rise to a completely new maturity level.
But of course it's generally known fact that EVE players are more mature, intelligent and generally more successful in life than all the 10 million plebs in WoW. 99% of us are also dashingly good looking and even though majority of us already has one foot in the grave (closing middle ages), we still get the chicks (whenever one of them makes a mistake of logging into our spaceship Internet game). After we put the kids in bed and set up the Sex-and-the-city DVD for the wife, we log on to EVE and type really prfoundly deep and intelligent messages about how CCP is runing the game and just how badly nanos need nerfing.
Oh and let's not forget we've got some serious killing skills.

My first MMO was Star Wars Galaxies, back in it's Pre-CU glory days, did the Jedi thing back when it was hard and rewarding, stuck it out through the Combat Downgrade, then eventually gave up as it failure cascaded due to the New Gawdawful Experience. SWG back then appealed to more mature players (after all it was set in the original trilogy timeline) and the NGE was an attempt to move it younger. Yecch.
I love EVE because of both it's complexity and it's hardcore nature, it's the first game since Pre-CU SWG to offer me that. I also appreciate the fact that EVE, due to it's nature, attracts more people around my age than WoW and it's infinite clones do.
Nearly everyone i've been in a corp with is an ex-pre cu SWG player and for most of them it was their first MMO, and they started playing EVE as it was the only other sandbox sci-fi MMO out there. So you have to think if SWG never existed, we would have a lot less players that would never have even experienced EVE in the first place.
(hmm, did that sound anywhere near coherent?)
You are exactly right... The two largest surges in EVE's subscribers happened in 2005, coinciding with the Combat Downgrade in Spring `05 and the New Gamedestroying Experience in Winter `05 started another. When you tell that many people to F'off and die, we aren't doing sandbox anymore as SOE did they naturally will eventually migrate to the closest replacement they can find, which is EVE.
Personally I can't wait for ambulation, because once EVE gets a real ground game I think that finally I will be able to bury the last of my SWG anger :)
My opinions are my own and do not reflect those of my corporation or alliance. |

Here I am sitting at work discussing the beatuy that is EvE Online. I just received my copy of Tony Gonzales' "Eve - The Empyrean Age" and im thinking about reading the first chapter right now. Either way we got on the topic of what the average age of EvE subscribers is as our player base "at times" appears to be much more mature than our enemys the WoW tards and the Hello Kitty failures (chococat is tehgey..) So. I'd love to see a dev response to an acurate number to this question if possible.....What is the Average Age of EvE Subsribers?
Thank you in Advance,
Jillian....By the way im 22
I used to think it was quite high, lately though I think the average age of eve players has dropped somewhat... from about 26 to 12 1/2.
I'm 30 btw.

OMFG FOR THE LAST GOD DAMNED TIME STOP BLAMING SOE FOR SWG.
All of those changes were mandated by Lucas arts. That means Lucas Art's is responsible for them, not SOE. Doing a little net search will find you 5 or 6 trade publications talking about this.
I honestly cannot believe how totally uninformed former SWG players are. Everywhere I see their anti-SOE rants that are devoid of any factual support.
Sorry for yelling. It just strikes a nerve.
