An optional patch was deployed today that addresses issue some players have had with running multiple clients simultaneously. If you’re used to running two or more clients at once and have had trouble in the past, please apply the optional patch, try it out and discuss how it works in this forum thread. Feedback is appreciated and if you run into trouble please remember to file a bugreport and attach a logfile of the run. Keep in mind that you can always install or uninstall optional patches through the ESC menu.

I hope it works i use mutiple clients on my pc. @ is the limit for now, because with a third he always crashed. Also running 2 clients gave problems. With windows 2000 prof it was not possible, now have windows xp it occurs but less, I hope this patch solves a lot problems especially when you are trading between your chracters. Before downtime i almost lost the providence when this account was thrown out while trading. The ship returned after the download with my other account. So no need too make a petition over a ship you did not lost.

I've had issues running multiple clients. But I'm not sure any of those would get addressed in this optional patch because there's no explanation of what it's meant to fix.
Maybe we can get that before I commit to installing it.

Hello,
I installed the new optional patch that came online today, and now Eve is not running anymore. When I start it, only the very first picture is showing with the Emperian Age pic, then its dissapearing, not even the login screen appears. Log Server says: There is no D3D device available and 42777 : trinity.TriDevice: HRES:none(none)

Quote: Empyrean Age 1.0.0-4 Optional Client changes, released 25 June 2008
The Cache Size option in the ESC menu would always be set to High, no matter what value was selected/displayed, this has now been fixed. Note: Changing the Cache Size in the ESC menu to Low should reduce memory usage at the cost of possible longer loading times. A new instance of the warp sound was being loaded into memory each time a player warps a ship within the same solar system, these instances would pile up until he changed session.
I'm still not sure what the issues running multiple clients are, from reading the patch notes. Long load times?

I've always had problems running two clients in Trinity mode at the same time - massive slowdowns, especially when approaching gates or undocking. Then I tried running two clients in Classic mode, but if they're both fullscreen then one always gets corrupt. The easiest solution was just to run the two clients in windowed mode, and maneuver the windows to just fit my screen's dimensions.
Alt-tabbing is really fast and I get good response times from both clients. The only annoyance is that occasionally the start bar hovers on top of the active window, but switching between fullscreen and windowed mode (alt-enter) makes it go away.

How to remove the optional patch without starting EVE, for those who can not start the eve client.
The optional patch is stored in a application data folder under all users, deleting it will effectively uninstall the optional patch.
Optional patch location Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CCP\EVE Windows Vista: C:\ProgramData\CCP\EVE
In this folder you will see another folder called something like c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility, If you delete this folder then the optional patch is no more and you should be able to start your eve client normally. Mandrake CCP - QA Department

If you can start your client and want to uninstall the optional patch then start the client and hit ESC, you will see a uninstall button in the general settings tab. Also if you have declined to download the optional patch at some point you can manually install it from the same location in the ESC menu. Mandrake CCP - QA Department

In an attempt to "fix" the problem, I uninstalled Eve, downloaded a new client and re-installed. I still cannot get anything to come up on the screen after the splash.. just eve sitting idle in the taskbar spitting out D3D errors for the log. Did you apply the optional client to the current downloadable client, as well?

That sounds like a memory leak which will affect single instance players too.

From the beginning nov 2004 i used EVE the first time i have problems bij using EVE by dual client, by the single client i have no problems at all. By buying an new PC whith an dual-core AMD in 2006 i have little problems over. By upgrading that PC in 2007 into an quatro-core AMD all the problems are fully over, i can handle everything all together whith mail, webbrowser, another small cardgame, TeamSpeake or Ventiro, MSN, etc on.
If the hardware not the same is what EVE is asked then go downwards in hardware compability to EVE itself, use the simplest EVE-client if the hardware is simple.
By an dual-core and quatro-core there are managementtools (from AMD / INTEL itself) for telling which EVE-client may used which processor of the dual/quatro. This is not an simple task, by bad using this tools there is the possibility for blowing up the processor.
I Used olso an temperture controldevice for control the Processor, Motherbord, Videocard, Harddisk, and the case itself. This parameters are more importent then many people thinks. By using so device you can choiching for reducing the processor voltage an little bit. I used this choich an bring my processor back to 1.2 volt, by this action my total temeture of the processor dropped from 65 degrees normal to 45-50 degrees (i used the Zalman Copper for processor and graphic card), this by last summer by roomtempetures of 30 ß 35 degrees - this tempeturecontrol olso helps more then many people thinks.
My meaning is that the lack of knowledging by software and hardware is mostly the problem, and its not the problem of the EVE program or the hardware itself. Mostly they think they can used the EVE-clients whith all the "options on" but the PC itself cant handle it.
Greetings

The new download of eve client had an "eve.exe (safe mode)" application included in it. I ran in safe mode (crappy gfx, etc..) then closed Eve normally and re-launched successfully using the normal Eve program. This appears to have gotten rid of the issue that caused the D3D errors. All seems well while logging in, now. As a precaution, I'm updating my video drivers to ensure highest compatibility for the D3D. Hope this helps.

Installed the patch. First two clients loaded fine. Third client still has the same bug where your graphics options are totally different, except this time it wouldn't let me change the resolution. Every time I tried to set it back to 1152x864 it refused and stayed at 1280x960. I closed the 3rd client and re-launched and got the other same old bug where eve zooms off the desktop where you can't see it. I had to copy over my pc.dat file with a backup to make eve visible again.
After this the 3rd client fired up ok, but I still got the same old whiteout bug, even when running just 2 clients.
Glad to see you fixed some memory bugs, but there's 3 more bugs still waiting to be fixed before we can use multiple clients again.

Hey Guys! I really like the memory fix! But I had to uninstall the upgrade, even though I'm dying for it with 3 clients here on one pc! The Reason Is I don't Want the reprocessing window to close when I reprocess one Item, as I sometimes have pages of loot from lvl 4 missions, and you have to look and analyse your loot to make sure you don't reprocess your gold nuggets to lead.....Is there anyway I can get just the memory fix?

I do hope this finally fixes my issues. With 2 clients going my computer would completely lock up within an hour. With three it would be like 20 minutes. Testing it now.
Note that it only does this with EVE and I have 3 GB of memory... Everything else (like Crysis and what not) never crashes.

I am guessing that the memory fix (The Cache Size option in the ESC menu would always be set to High, no matter what value was selected/displayed, this has now been fixed.) is the fix to multiple clients as that is when the Cache Size bug would be the most noticable.

Seems to be working *really* nicely under Linux, on Wine, now. No memory problems when switching back and forth between the desktop. \o/
I did have something happen to me earlier - I tried to undock at one point, but it instead seemed to 'jam', reset the tutorials, and the EVE clock was winding itself round like it was possessed. Restarted the client and most of the cache seemed to have been deleted - portraits weren't deleted, but all my overview settings, sound settings etc. were reset. Not something I've seen before, on Linux or Windows.
Anyways could just be a weird EVE-on-Wine issue, but I'm posting this here in case anyone else comes across it.

Explain, please, this moment. I though that program data isolated on per-process basis. It is problem with your code or it is common Python engine problem that some data crossing up, leading system to crash?
Glad that you are aware of the fact that there is a problem with more than one client client running, we have this problem for a while back, but I can't understand, WHY it is a problem. Have never had any troublem running as many D3D applications as I want, but now - bah... BSoD every time we want to 2-box. Doesn't that means you need a stick to poke your coders to revisit the core code? And finally implement windowmanager in EVE? I already exhausted reporting all stupid window actions. --sig--

The Mac version of EVE (Cider-ized) used to have this problem (least the clock part and basically locking up at the same time), I think they managed to fix it at one point... not sure, since I set up my comp to dual boot into XP and get better FPS/less lag with Trinity graphics on XP than I do with the Mac version with it's classic-graphics-only.
Which is just to say that I suspect it's an EVE + Wine issue, it may affect the Mac version, but probably not the Windows version on Windows. Course, I'm knocking on wood atm cause I haven't installed the patch yet and am about to go do that...
Good luck finding a fix or having CCP locate whatever is causing it, either way

Well first impression is good. All three premium clients are patched. Memory usage per client is now between 300 and 400 MB (which my system can handle easily, 1 GB or so out of 3 used). It used to get much higher. The cache is set to low. The CPU is quite busy (90% load) but I haven't seen a crash yet and I've been running for several hours straight now. :D
I hope things remain stable. Fingers crossed.

Great to see CCP acknowledge this as a problem.
I've cautiously started testing, not in combat scenarios yet, but it looks good so far.
Anyone else experience BSODs *only* when two or more accounts are on the same grid? My PC is rock solid the rest of the time, I only have a problem when both my characters can see each other in space.
It would be goo to hear if anyone else experiences the same, pre-patch?

I know it is kinda off topic but I really wanted to say thanks for this temp patch.
My computer is uber, quad core, 4 gigs of ram, 8800's etc but I always had stacks of ram free when running mutiple clients.
Now when I set both to standard usage and run 2 x clients eve now takes an extra chunk of my spare ram and I have seen a boost in performance.
Have not tried 3 chars but I imagine I can run lag free 3 chars.
Also with the cache at low can run 2 x premium clients with zero lag at all so yeah to the temp patch.
I recommend it to everyone, eve now handles memory much better.

No errors pop up, it just like it pauses after you try and run the client and nothing happens. Though the task manager says it is running each time i have tried, so maybe the patch has done something else to the client?

Please don't misinform other people, you know nothing clearly. There's no tools from AMD/Intel, it's no secret, in windows task manager (ctrl-alt-delete), you can set Core affinity for which process you want one which core. Useful if you have an AV running and it's slowing down ur PC, just take it off one core, and ur pc speeds up instantly. Same with multiple eve clients, if you're alt tabbing, say you have a dual-core cpu, and 4 clients, put alternate clients on each core, or related clients on alternate cores. For example, u got a capital ship, and a cyno alt, put them on alternate cores so they're always "live" and you can alt-tab instantly between them.
THERE'S NO RISK OF PHYSICAL DAMAGE OCCURING WITH THIS METHOD!! Go claim on microsoft if anything does happen, since it's window's fault lol. Seriously though, nothing will lol ----------------------------------------------- Mattyx Chief Executive Officer Galactic Savings and Investments

Thankx Wangler!
This patch works a charm on Vista, I am now able to run more than 3 clients above 40fps simultaneously and my production openoffice sheet (hogs memory with badly written formulas). Before vista would run outta memory with 3 clients even with gfx option turned off or as low as possible (and cache set to off) and I could only run EVE on two of the 4 lcd screens without my spreadsheet open
Vista Box, Quad Core, 2x 3870s CF, 4x 22" Lcd, Clients Max Settings @ 1650x1200, AA 48x
On XP there is no difference that I can tell. Multiple clients work great on XP and I have never had any problems with memory. XP also utilizes crossfire and more than 2 screens better than Vista still, and owns with CF being able to work with more than 2 screens installed.

I installed the old patch for the reprocess screen and the game worked fine, then this patch came out, I "dummy" pressed no. Tried to install it from the ESC menu and there was only a uninstall button. I thought if i uninstall the old one i might be able to install the new one, and i had no install button after that.
So i uninstalled the reprocessing window patch and didnt get the new one. Any possibility that CCP would make a extra mini-patch link in the patch downloads page for this one? As ppl didnt rly know what the patch was at the time? Timing is everything, always try to be fashionably late |

I'm have a game with this patch; before the memory leak patch I got the original reprocessing window patch, and all was fine; until the next reboot. then i would get "ccp exefile has stopped working" at random times. then on starting eve i got "optional patch available" and it listed both the memory fix and the reproc window fix. put em on, played for hours, no problems. reboot. "ccp exefile has stopped working". I think windows is system restoring the exe file to the unpatched state which is buggering it up. i'm going to turn off system restore, reboot and reinstall eve. I'm running on Vista Enterprise x64 edition btw. Anybody else getting the "install patch again" problem? Kbob

After the installation of this patch I experienced heavy lags in the station interface -- for example, moving items from cargo to corphangar at a 'speed' of 1 item per 5 seconds.
Removing of the patch solved this problem.

Hm, I use to run 2 clients on Windows 2000 Professional SP4 (AMD Athlon 1800+, 2GB RAM, Radeon 9100. Yea, old machine.), I have the usual CTD of one of the clients, but it's not so often. Lately I'm having some trouble when ALT+TABbing between clients in fullscreen mode. Then the client is not responding. The only chance to "survive" it is, to ALT+ENTER. The client comes usually back but everything is white, untextured. The textures are then loaded and after 2-3 seconds, evreything's textured again. Otherwise the client stays dead. For me.
Then again, there are things that bother me in windowed mode. If a windowed client is docked at a station, it somehow hogs a lot of resources. Making other applications in windows run slowly and lagged, regardless of running only one or two clients. It also effects the other client if there is a second client running.
Slightly worse, I have the same effect with a client during login state. From the beginning where you enter your account data to the character selection. Once logged in, it loosens a bit but the "docked performance hog" is taking effect. This is only in windowed mode.
It runs rather fine when both clients are in space... I wish I didn't have to dock every now and then ;)
I didn't yet notice any changes with the patch regarding the mentioned personal annoyances.

Only problem I have ever had with 3 clients going is a bit of memory leak which would occasionally cause me to have to shut one client and relaunch it, no big deal i am trying to do a lot so it can be expected.
AMD dual core 5200+, 8Gb DDR2, 2x x1650's.
Not a great machine but good enougth for 3 Clients. Trinity is graphics/processor hungry if your PC aint upto it running more than 1 client will cause problems, the fix CCP should release is "Upgrade your x386,x486 or whatever to something more suitable for the task or stick to nonTrinity graphics"

I installed patches on both my accounts a few days ago, I have had no problems running both at the same time, trading, ganging was OK. I have hot problems with the overview since then and it looks like I've lost the option to not display gang and alliance members in the overview. This caused no end of problems while on a fleet op the other night. Overview problems have been a recurrent problem since I bought the extra account but this new problem, an overload of ship info in the overview causes problems in reacting to combat situations. Any advice?

I usually run 3 clients but can run up to 5 at times, install the new patch and have nothing but good things to say so far. Had one lock up but think that was more due to an AVG scan starting than the clients. Each client is using about 20% less memory than before, so yay!

I decided that i would try and set up my second monitor and run 2 clients today to save all the alt+tabbing.
I now have a problem which i cant fix. The login screen is the size of my 22 inch monitor thus when i press escape to change it to windowed mode/resolution i cant see these options anymore because they dont fit in the screen
I have tried to reinstall the client but it still retains the these troublesome settings due to uninstall not actually removing everything eve off my system.
any help/pointers would be helpful

My solution to it is to set Windowed, not Full Screen. I can run 4 clients then. Silly patches set it back to Full Screen, and/or other graphics settings, which causes a problem for me when 2+ clients are running.
Details: Problem I have had is this: Client 1 is working fine, launch the second client and then while waiting for the login screen my display starts to flicker and becomes unresponsive. It's like it's drawing the graphics horizontally and flickering while doing it.
Problem: Patch puts client 2 back into Full Screen even though all my clients (4 of them) are all windowed.
Fix: Start each client, make sure all graphics settings are as they were, then launch as many of the 4 that I need.
PC: Dual core Athlon socket 939 2.4GHz, 2GB ram, Win XP, ATI Radeon 9600XT 128MB AGP.
The problem I get often happens with eve patches. For some reason the graphics settings get reset to Full Screen or it's another graphics setting, but by making sure all clients are set the same, that is my solution. I hope it helps some of you.

Edited by: Gvivz on 26/06/2008 21:06:26 What exacly does this patch do for multiple clients?
I have run 2 clients since I started my alt in '05, and even now with Premium Content I can still run 6 clients smoothly... I don't do it often, and I think I can run more, but 6 is the most I've had to run simultaneously. And 3 of those were double-start the same Eve folder. I have 3 separate installs of Eve to run 3 clients and ran each one twice to get the 6.
I am running Windows Vista 64bit, 8gb of RAM, Intel e6850 3.0ghz Core2 Duo, nVidia GeForce 8800GTS 512, Asus DH-Deluxe Mobo. Maybe its the hardware...
All my eve problems went away when I upgraded to Vista, and none of my Eve problems were multi-client related that I know of. The only thing I never liked was login settings, had to change them everytime I logged in a new alt, but I don't have that problem anymore...
So what were the problems, and what was fixed??

The best way to run multiple clients at the same time is to install separate instaces of the client. Also set the Client Video settings to Window mode instead of Full screen. ex. c:\Program Files\CCP c:\Program Files\CCP2
By doing this you will not run into any errors/bugs. For more info hit me up one eve mail NetBlaise or Le Veldspar.

Finally saw my bug report on cache size problems? LOL. Nice to feel like ccp actually reads those things.
Patch seems to work fine for me. But it didn't cure my "out of video mem" problem (see below)
Recap: Used to run 2 clients, premium, windowed mode, with no problems for over two years, on my Desktop replacement notebook (Dual core, 2Gb mem, nvidia Go 7600 256mb)
The evil 1.1 boost patch strikes. Horrible frame rates, running out of video mem with multiple clients (I checked the errors coming out of logserver), lockups for 1 full minute when video mem not found on another client startup(only took 642 looping exceptions before client finally failed and allowed me to kill the task)
Now I seem to remember this was when ccp reorganized the Esc menus. So this likely explains the broken cache size combo box. And probably why, still to this day, I have to listen to station sfx while docked, ON ALL MY CLIENTS, even though I have the Station Environments toggled off. And deal with poor framerates while docked (I suspect environment is still being loaded and rendered in the background and I'm just not seeing it.) CCP I THINK YOU STILL HAVE MANY MORE ESC MENU PROBLEMS TO FIX!
Like Kalmanaka posted, once any task got over about 500Mb of mem usage, I'd start having problems, like whiteout on one client, which only cleared when all clients were relogged. I alway wondered why reducing cache size never seemed to reduce the process size. They'd just keep growing until they errored out. I'd assumed it was a memory leak.
So Emperionic Age hits and still dealing with the 1.1 boost patch problems. Post 1.1 boost patch I now have to run all clients in classic mode to get decent framerates. Last time I'd rechecked this it still hadn't changed.
I can currently run 3 clients at once but only if I log them all in within a few minutes of each other.
At the time of this post I've got 2 clients running for about 1 hour now, normal cache size, with no problems. As a test I just tried to login a 3rd client (a late login like this almost always causes the 1 min "out of video mem" lockup), and yes, I just locked up for 1 minute, so that's still not fixed. I don't mind an error if there's no video mem for the 3rd client, as my card only has 256Mb, I just hate the massive spamming of exceptions, causing total system lockup, before the client finally gives up.

Please note CCP that this patch did not only solve multiple account issues but also decreased loading times (atleast for me) by half or more! ALL loading times except entering space.
I can now run 3 account with decent fps (only 7600gt nvidia and 2gb ram)very playable on the premium client and that was impossible before because memory ran out (almost froze).
Its lightning fast to play now and i have very high fps in stations aswell so alot more pleasant for the eye.
PLEASE never remove this patch :D Finally some good stuff!!

Great patch, thank you.
After my long break from Eve I was unable to play 2 clients on the same configuration (AMDx2 4200+, 2 GB RAM, GeForce 6600wtf or whatever on two monitors) it worked relatively smooth before (although I had a drop in fps back then, but this was bearable - and the occassional "whitening" - effect).
Now, with the new patch - it works better than EVER BEFORE.
I was already considering buying myself a new graphics card, now I can spend the EUR 150,- on a big party with rl friends of mine.
Thanks CCP, great job!
Btw... I found out that turning "use LOD" off makes Eve extremely slow when using two clients. You should update the info on this switch, please... it's a trap, because most of the other switches make Eve faster. Making other applications in windows run slowly and lagged, regardless of running only one or two clients. It also effects the other client if there is a second client running.
Enabling VSync will usually sort that out. It seems to be because the client keeps trying to run as fast as it can, even when the frame rate is already ridiculously high. This hits system bottlenecks you wouldn't normally get when rendering the more complex in-space scenes. Enabling VSync (IIRC the eve settings call it "Interval one") caps the frame rate, and stops the client from running away with all your system resources.

If the 5-10 second lag is only when you're running 3 accounts at once, I'd suggest your PC simply isn't fast enough. If it still happens with just one client open, then that's a completely different issue.
Originally by: Gvivz What exacly does this patch do for multiple clients?
It helps multiple clients because it means the option to limit the cache size actually works. Before, the cache was considered to be set to "high" regardless of what you actually set the option to. This would result in the clients hogging loads of RAM (>500Mb per client).
On your 8Gb system, this wouldn't be an issue. On a more usual 2Gb system, this would result in you running out of RAM, at which point you would experience massive performance hits and frequent crashes. ------- There is no magic Wand of Fixing, and it is not powered by forum whines. |

Originally by: CCP Mandrake How to remove the optional patch without starting EVE, for those who can not start the eve client.
I did this because after trying to install the patch would not let me run the client. after doing deleting that file I still have the same problem. the client wont run at all. No errors pop up, it just like it pauses after you try and run the client and nothing happens. Though the task manager says it is running each time i have tried, so maybe the patch has done something else to the client?
The patch also installed itself into your own {User}/Application Data folder. Mine was located in All Users and a second copy was found in my {User}/Local Data/Application Data directory. When I deleted both and ran the {eve.exe /safemode} shortcut, Eve finally loaded again. That's two whole days of lost training...bahhh. Just because CPP decided to deploy the patch without uninstall instructions.

Quick question about the caching for anyone who can help...
I used to have an option to set this (I set it to low and found it helped with lag).
Now can't see the option, since either EA or I reinstalled client (at the same time).
Tried editing the prefs.ini file (seemed to remember advancedDevice=1 gave you extra options), but still no dice.
Can anyone please tell me how to get the caching option back so I can set it?
Many thanks,

Maybe we can get that before I commit to installing it.
Maybe you can just click the link provided in the optional patch installing window which takes you to the Patch Notes, and explains what this patch does...
It says they've set the cache to low automatically (which we'd pretty much all done ourselves anyway - see the original forum postings) and this: A new instance of the warp sound was being loaded into memory each time a player warps a ship within the same solar system, these instances would pile up until he changed session. None of us having this issue were using sound...any of us that were still replying said so. That said... you may have noted by the relative silence in recent months that server side changes of one kind or another at least for me, who was having huge problems, seemed to have fixed the issue. I said it was most likely server side months ago and explained why on the revelations 2 patch comments page. zzzz

To patch or not to patch ...
I have had issues running >2 clients, but reading some of the issues people have had with this patch I think I'll pass. Has it really been as cack-handedly implemented as it seems ?
And all this for what - to make the ESC menu cache setting DO something ? Does it really need a separate patch and associated hassle to work out it would be a good idea to fix a broken setting ?
C'mon CCP.

Originally by: Flicky G Great to see CCP acknowledge this as a problem.
<snip>
Still having this problem. I've re-checked the integraty of my RAM with MemTest86 and this reports no problems.
I'm still getting BSODS, of the SYSTEM_EXCEPTION_ERROR variety. This happens now even when both characters are not on the saem grid, same system or even same region. (so I assume it's deffo clientside)
Some circumstantial evidence indicates that the problem is worse at around 10pm GMT as this is when 90% of these problems occur.
However, I noticed yesterday that cache size was set incorrectly - so I've fixed that and I'll see this week if there is any improvement.

OK, I installed patch on day it came out, no issues, seemed to work. Today I keep getting disconnected with an error pop up advising client has optional patch installed and server may not be compatible with patch?
WTF?
I had trouble getting back in, so next time message popped up asking if I wanted to uninstall optional patch, I choose YES and guess what? Now I can connect but I am back to one client on this computer...
Opinions reflected on my posts are just that, my opinions. They do not reflect views held by my corp or alliance. |

Originally by: CCP Mandrake Also if you have declined to download the optional patch at some point you can manually install it from the same location in the ESC menu.
There's no such thing or it is instaleed already. But I can't see the uninstall option either :| Under General settings I have only "Show exception windows" & "show movie on next login" chechboxes. Nothing more! Please help! |

Good question. Call me an idiot if you will but I can't find a way to install it. I get a button to uninstall the optional patch for the reprocessing window but that is it. I've un-installed that, then I'm given the option to re-install it. I've tried with and without premium graphics enabled, with and without advanced graphics settings enabled and nothing. |

I suppose there still is a problem at the moment as my 'EVE Online Skillwatch' Vista-sidebar tool isn't working due to an "EVE backend database temporarily disabled" error.. Any news on when this would be resolved perhaps? Thank you for replying and providing such an exquisite custommer service.
Please flame to your hearts contempt

Got a little problem in here:
Mod is online. I try to activate it, nothing happens. I try to activate it again, and pops up an error saying "an attempt to activate this module is underway". I try to active 2 other modules and nothing happens. Again, same error when trying to click them by the second time.
I check info as module is a shield hardener; Resists have indeed changed - Cool! I think...capless hardeners . 2 seconds later I check resits and they are back to "normal". Modules are still trying to get their arses off the chair.
I restart client and hardeners are now active; resists changed. I try to offline a module...guess what, it doesn't offline at all I reboot client once again and module is now offline! I try to online it and well...ditto.
CCP, you ordered your client to eat my orders?

Hello,
I installed the new optional patch that came online today, and now Eve is not running anymore. When I start it, only the very first picture is showing with the Emperian Age pic, then its dissapearing, not even the login screen appears. Log Server says: There is no D3D device available and 42777 : trinity.TriDevice: HRES:none(none)
^-- I had this problem to start.
I removed the patch folder in the hidden data and local data CCP - EVE folder.
I did this on both my XP and Vista machine.
The XP system started working perfectly.
The Vista is now unable to connect to the server.. it is "perma" unknown status with an active internet connection. As mentioned by another member earlier.
Anyone have any thoughts?

Holy crap, I'm so happy to read this, I've been scouring the 'General Settings' tab (all tabs in fact) in ESC menu with no joy. Just how the heck am I supposed to install this thing... I can't figure it out at all.

To be honest I've never had any problems using multiple clients since I started playing EVE. Normally I use the classic graphics when running multiple clients to speed things up or simply use 1 premium and the others with classic graphics. I haven't really noticed an improvement, nor did EVE ever crash before the patch. With lower cache size I will start to run 4 clients with 2 a screen. See what happens... Great that possible problems are largely solved tho

I've tried the patch but it seams things have gotten worse for me, I tried asking for help in the help channel but all they do is blame people for macro mining without even thinking about helping so thought I'd post here. (I understand that's just gamers in there offering their time to help and no GM's, but please be a little more considerate, I mean that is the HELP channel right?)
On to my issue with running Multiple clients: When I run multiple clients on one computer while running in window mode I have an issue where when I select one of the clients it goes back to full screen, then all buttons and menus and channels are offset, or rather my mouse is offset by about 50 pixels at both x and y cords. I've done all the resource settings, like cache to low or even off to help, not running in premium graphics mode (which really sucks, cause I enjoy premium graphics, even though turning that off helped bring down the lag).
Yes alt-tab works, but as soon as I select the 2nd client, it too does the same thing, now I have two clients with offset mouse controls, both no longer in window-mode and both offset, but the full screen mode it gets thrown into is smaller settings than previously running in window-mode.
Thanks for your help in rectifying this issue. |
