If anyone comes across these two thieves, do not for a second think about letting them in your corp. They are the lowest form of scum, even worse than MOO.
The second someone goofed and gave them access they didn't need they cleaned us out - the treasury, the minerals, the blueprints (a god damn cruiser bp as well) the items... everything.
If you see them, KILL THEM.

Great job CCP. Not only do you build a system that permits this spoiled 12 year old behaviour, you prevent any recourse as we can't place bounties on positive sec rated players.
AWESOME.

I have to bump this, being another of the injured parties.
These two toons, Marichek and Feanor picked a good time when a lot of the corp were stuck in space last night and cleaned out the corp hangar of all it's contents, including personal items, and a Cruiser that our 10 person corp had saved quite some time to buy, along with 2 cruisers which were destined for them anyways.
They left a message in our journal that it was 'just business' aparently they couldn't pass up the opportunity presented to them to clear us out, even though they'd been working with us for weeks.
It's really unfortunate that this can happen and we have no recourse. We can't even place a bounty on them as they have a positive security rating. They just get to get off scott free. They've likely transfered everything to alts by now anyways of course...

Hello.
While I do not say that their actions were good or anything...
It is bad that you cannot place a bounty, but I want to ask you a question: You state that they took the opportunity that someone in your corp gave them access they didn't need, so my question is:
If they didn't need the access, why did you grant it?
From your story it seems to be that they just joined your corp, and honestly, with all the stories about thieves, you should have been more cautious.
Still, if they transfered the stuff to alts, they're not particularly good players. -------------------------------------- Sarela "Eurydike" Taris

It's a very fair point that they probably shouldn't have had access. I think there was some confusion on the part of our acting leader with the new patch which caused more access than necessary to be granted.
Many of us in the corp had issues with what may have been generally lax security. It was a very small corp though, 10 toons. We all stared at asteroids together for a few weeks and felt a bit of trust with one another and then some people decided they couldn't pass up an opportunity to scam the others for their own personal gain, perhaps because there was no way they could be punished.

I understand this as well, being a CEO of a small corp myself, but I also see that it can't be punished by just placing a bounty on the culprits either. What they could do, however, is have a group of polaris people who have GM priveleges to be able to lower security rating based on what they hear and see with their gm eyes. This is just a quick thought but if the polaris people did that they could lower the corp stealers down to a level where they could have a bounty on their head and you could take care of them from there. Another thing, if you felt that they should die that strongly, who cares if your security hurts a little? just hunt them down and blast them, then pirate hunt for a couple days to get your security status up to par. This post should have been titled 'Death of The Imposium Corporation' as half our members are now leaving the game. There are a lof of bad feelings all around but of course through ignoring people it's easy for Feanor and Marichek to avoid them.
I personally intend to keep playing. I think I will be looking for a somewhat less trusting and more organized corporation to work with though.
I was told by the GM that there is nothing they can do. I suspected this was true but figured it was worth a shot.
They said that if I have any ideas what can be done about this I should file a bug report. I think a couple of things that come to mind are some sort of corporate insurance as well as some sort of police recourse when you are robbed like this. There should certainly be some security status implications for this kind of theft.
I'd like to think of this less as a ***** post and more as a warning to others. I have played in other MMORPGs where a guild is a collection of people that like to have fun together and help each other out. I think a lot of folks in our corp thought it could be run similarly in this game. They wanted their corp to be an open place where everyone can share what they've earned. This doesn't work in this game. Be careful.

Hmmm, If Im not mistaken, dont ships have an individual serial number or tracking number of some sort (though I dont have any idea where to look for it?) This wont help the stolen cash problem but (like car theft is now) could we report the "stolen vehicle" and when it enters various areas, maybe it would get scanned and impounded for the original owner to pick up? Maybe individual numbers are or can be put on BP's too. _________ "Our inmates are dedicated to producing the best license plates for your ships." -Saturn, Warden and CEO of Prison Corp |

The system now is better, you have different hangars, and no access is given when accepting the application. However unfortunate it is that this happened to you, this is human error, not an error from the game. That's only my opinion though.

Well I think the new hangar system works great and prevents these kinds of things from happening. All our members have access to ammo and the equipment they need while our EOs handle BPs, distrubution of ships among our members, skills and other "expensive" things. We would gladly give all our people access but well... it¦s just too dangerous.
I feel really sorry for you, but maybe it taught you that you have to be careful with everything. We live in a world where you can¦t trust the people that are around you... some people can¦t even trust their families. It¦s sad but true. In my personal opinion this is good for you, because it didn¦t teach you somethin in a game, it gave you a lesson that can actually help you in LIFE... which is much much more important than any game will ever be.

Very unfortunate and I'm sorry it happened but even more sorry it makes people quit playing. The biggest problem I see with this happening is you have no recourse. The stuff and usually the player's character who did is gone...poof. We have no way of tracking our stuff, finding out other people's alt characters and no way of hunting these characters down. In real life, if you know who robbed you, catching them isnt that hard. In Eve, if you know who robbed you...tough. If you can even find them, if they are in a high security system, you can't even do anything about it. I wouldnt mind a system where you can go to war against individuals and any alt character they have or has had or will have, you are at war with also...just an idea.

I am a member of the IMPco corporation and I will be cancelling my account within a few days. The reason for me quitting can't be blamed on just one event. But i do want to offer an explanation for me leaving the game, especially for the people of IMPco.
I've nearly used up the free trial membership. During this time, i spent trying to learn the game. I've tried to see what this game has to offers me. Afterall, this is a game where you have to keep paying money to play. I have to get something out of it right? I can say that the only positive thing i got out of this game is the few people i've meet. without those people, I would have cancelled long before the free trial was over. Well.. there's actually two things.. The second thing is the music in the game. no, really. I find the music so boring that anytime i have a hard time falling asleep at night, All i would have to do is start listening to that music and i'm fast asleep.
the bad things about this game? Well.. so many to list. where to start? The numerous bugs that were present shortly after going public should have been delt with long before this game went public comes to mind. characters getting stuck is another. the market crashes that plague eve during the first few weeks hinted as possible stability problems or perhaps bad coding/design? how many times did you say to yourself "god i hope i don't crash when i click this map button". I can keep going but those are bugs and nuisences that hopfully CCP will fix in a timely manner.
What made me decide to leave this game is that the fun factor seems to have been removed from the game before it's released to the public. Mining rocks for minerals.. well, i'd rather see paint dry. Many times I would wonder what I would choose if i had to decide between mining and going to a dentist. Sadly, the the dentist often appealed to me more. i tried some pirate hunting at some of the gates and astroid belts and after an hour or so, that too became boring. I just don't see how fun (or challenging for that matter) it is to move the mouse curser over a NPC, click on "lock target" then activitate your weapons. I bet with proper training, you can get a monkey to do the same thing. Granted, with harder pirates, you also have to navigate your ship to with in your weapons's optimum range.. ooh, i can feel my adrelinine rush. oh wait, that was just my bowel movement. So i decided to try some exploring? Well...30 jumps to a random location and it what i saw was the same thing over and over. a stargate.. a few planets, some astrod belts and a station or two.
I then tried to find some factory slots and research facility. Well.. let's not go there since this has been discussed in other forums.
i suppose what finally got me over the edge was when the two people, Feanor and Marichek decided to take everything IMPco had and take off. I was angry at first because a lot of people in the corp had sacrificed their time and effort to get the blueprints, cash an some items. i was also shocked because these two people were one of the first people to join the corp. they were there from the very begining. Sadly, CCP designed the game so that people like Feanor and Marichek can do these acts and walk away without any reprocussions. I find that to be a serious flaw within the game. I realize they did make some changes to give security clearance but are these changes enouph? My feeling is that this game is based too much on DIS-trust. "I don't trust you so i am only giving you security clearance of level 2" I don't see any fun telling someone that.. or being told that. And what happens if someone is given the wrong clearence by mistake? One bad judgement and you'll see everything that the corporation has worked for gone in matter of seconds.
the only thign i want to say to CCP is:
Your clue phone is ringing. please.. please pick it up.

Hum...I like the idea of a mark or serial number on each ship own by a corp...Then, as soon as a ship is said as stolen, the one who lands on a station with this ship is podded out of it and the ship waits for it's owner to be picked up...At least U can trace where ppl are and recover part of what they have stollen. Then a CEO should be able to put a bounty on it's members or receive a notification each time smtg happens in a hangar or a wallet. Like : "player X is moving n million isk to his account...Do you agree this action? Y/N." Of course first U have to trust ppl U give access to corp's hangar/wallet, but U should be able to counter abuses. Ok, first of all, I've never seen a corporate wallet, so some of what I am about to say might be there or if not, perhaps it should/could be. Please bear with me. :)
There should be a main wallet of which the CEO is in direct control (CEO must aprove transfers). Then there should be a petty cash wallet for misc spending by all who are qualified to access it. Perhaps a factgory wallet for purchasing supplies (minerals) only.

The access control being as coarse as it is is definitely a serious problem. Especially since there seems to be no way to prosecute corporate criminals.
Let's say a corp has one especially valuable posession like a blackbird blueprint. 35 million isk. It only has one copy too because labs are so hard to find it couldn't be copied. Remember this is a small corp without tons of resources. You would expect that this bp is kept in security 5 where only very select members have access to it, or better yet in the hangar of a trusted member.
If you set off a batch of blackbirds building in a corp factory and log off, when the batch is done the blueprint will fall into the factory section. All it takes is a junior corpmember with factory access for making ammo or something to get a bright idea and you are out 35 million isk.
This is NOT what happened to IMPco but it could happen to anyone, and I expect it will happen a lot if my personal experience so far is anything to go by...
I can buy insurance on my 5 million blackbird, but I can't get insurance on my 35 million blueprint.

My suggestion is not to give anyone who doesn't need to build things and/or you can't trust implicitly factory manager privs. People who need ammo should not be manufacturing their own. Get a factory manager (or the CEO, or what have you) to build a weeks worth of ammunition at a time and leave it in a "public" hangar. Don't let everyone and their mother have access to your corporations most valuable assets. This sort of thing should not be happening anymore, it's happened enough and everyone should have learned from other corporations' misfortune by now.

I like the serial number ideal. I DONT think the stolen property should be destroyed at the next station they dock at. What should happen: First the docking is logged by the same in game system that tracts security rating. This will allow bounty hunters and who ever was violated to track the movements of the stolen property. What they wont know is who was piloting the ship. If you buy stolen gear, sucks to be you, check the serial number before you buy. Yes there will be ways to "reserial number" a ship, but it will be expensive and rare. This is like in real life, you steal a car and try to sell it, they are going to check the VIN number and report it to the police. AND in the same way, there are ways that car thieves can mask and fake a serial number/ VIN
The second thing that happens when you dock with a stolen ship is, you security rating drops a little, depending on the system. LoSec and NoSec systems dont care if you dock in a stolen ship but others will. It wont drop a ton but just a little blip to tell remind you that you are flying stolen goods.
Smaller items like ship systems and weapons wouldnt be automatically cataloged but maybe you could pay to register them.
Maybe in a future, future patch...
If you trust the wrong person, or mess up security clearance well thats your problem

same here, all BPs are copied. copies are used for manufacture, originals are level 5 sec at the least, or in a personal hanger... you know those places NO ONE can get at except you.
I sorry to say it, but all this comes down to a player not double checking what he has enabled before pressing ok and being a trusting fool.
CCP are spending a lot of time on this issue that could be spent on more important things. ---------------- ~= Askari =~
