The Council of Stellar Management has had their first in person meeting with the CCP council. Xhagen wrote a quick blog about how it all went and what the future holds. Read it all in Council of Stellar Management Summit Recap by Xhagen.

So, was anything discussed regarding nerfing the Local intel?
A couple of other questions: Was the meeting agenda ever published on this site (or anywhere else)? When do we get to read the minutes? ...

I hate to say this but that seems to be fairly typical, hell its vitualy a form letter for the "first followup" announcment for any stockholder meeting, bascialy its
It started [insert breif timeline]û the idea to [insert Idea] and [insert apropreate buzzworded statment and puncuation] Today, [refer to event in the past with references to goin over the input], it is a time [insert context apropreat name to type of comunication]. In short, [refer to even in the most positive manor possible]. [give pat on the head to outside participants] and [statment of intention to work on the items they brought up]. [insert random prase for both sides implying more prase to non company participants.
The next step is to [refer to working on items brought up by stockholders]. [refer to and lightly emphisise the of the ammount of work needed to impliment the ideas without listing the ideas], [refer to the priority indicated by stockholders]. [reemphisize the practicality of any proposal without actualy refering to any proposal while implying subtly that the items brought up were already known to the company]. After some planning, we will proceed to [reference ideas/concerns brought up by the stockholders in a manor that indicates that they will be reviewed, handled, or otherwise acted on] . [indicate that you will make sure that items brought up by the participating stockhlder/participants will be linked to them in a way that implies that they can take some of the credit of they are acted on, or if need be most of the blame]
[indicate in a vauge manor that they will work on them, but also vaugly indicate that Frankly were going to do it our way anyway]
[insert praise for the participants in a way that indicates that their input was constructive and that things were overall positive]
-----------------------------
Sorry but I have gotten too many "Day after followup" letters (and helped prepare some myself) like that from companys BEFORE the stockholder meetings to give them any more thought than its realy worth

as to why I was a bit sarcastic? One of the leters like that that went out came from a stockholder meeting where the "Stockholder input" section consisted entirely of the following sugestions
1 Retrofitting all of our product piplines with a 3 inch thick lineing sleeve that would self seal in case of a leak(in some cases that would reduce the product pipelin to 3 inches, but whatever)
2) close down any product line that is within 500m of any housing farm or buisness untill we bought it out and reverted it to its natural state. (he also proposed that we move any product pipleline that cosed any river or creak)
3) fire any employee who held stock in a softdrink company or fast food franchise
4) stop working with irresponsible companies like Exxon and work exclusivly with green companies like BP, this, incidenatly was the week before http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_City_Refinery_(BP)

No, we didn't discuss local nerf, though it might be a hot topic for next CSM meeting in 2 months.
The problem at hand is that it's not optional to show avatars in the pilot listing, which takes up large amounts of space.
The idea is to make it optional.

Not yet, we haven't had appropriate ISSUEs coming up for discussion on the Assembly Hall. We've got some things in the pipeline about Minmatar capitals (balance) wise. But there hasn't yet been a good Titan topic, and the Caps Online topic we did have didn't through the CSM voting because it was covering too many specific proposals in one raft. I'd suggest for Titan's we need a good "lets look at the current and future role for titans" (with some imaginative ideas and directions) style topic rather than overly specific nerf this nerf that style proposal.

Plenty of talk in the topics. Lots on crime and punishment, and some good proposals on altering the bounty system so it gets paid incrementally on ship losses (at basic insurance level) rather than in one go for the pod. Lots of detail to come but lets wait for the minutes

Edited by: Serenity Steele on 26/06/2008 19:50:59 We performed the prioritisation on the last day after end of the CSM/CCP meetings, so once the minutes are ready CCP will have the prioritisation.
One key thing that we learnt during the sessions is that CCP are open to much wider discussion on the future of EVE than many of the detailed balancing issues. Also that technical detail raised in some of the threads is not necessary - if we state the goal of where we as players would like EVE to go (eg. self-policing through transferable kill rights) then CCP are keen to work out the technicalities.
It was to be expected that the focus would be on immediate issues, given this is the first chance the Player base got a formal voice into CCP. It would be nice to get the immediate concerns into the pipeline fast enough that we can at least get to the big stuff by the last CSM/CCP issue submission. Earlier is probably unrealistic given the backlog of things the players have pent up for a few years and want in.

You know, consulting the big honking database that backs Tranquility would tell you more, more accurately, and with less bias than asking people about hot button issues.

Awesome!
so when is the next election?
moon thinks there needs to be Future changes and new player experience represented. I didn't see anything about tutorial videos or planary combat for instance.
So I'm wondering when I should start campaigning:P

It was a recent dev post on the forum about that which in short stated that it won't happen as it simply will cause too much load on the database. Shame as it would be a very nice feature.

This is something that was covered in depth here: Coding Horror: I Repeat: Do Not Listen to Your Users
From that website:
Quote:
Acting on user feedback alone is questionable. No matter how well intentioned, you're guessing. Why guess when you can take actions based on cold, hard data? Acting on user feedback and detailed usage metrics for your application or website-- that's the gold standard.
I highly doubt that CCP will be stupid enough to just simply listen to what the CSM has to say and implement their decisions without consulting the cold, hard data.
And to be honest, if CCP didn't listen to the users, the UI would NEVER get fixed. Of course, the UI is still a horrible mess, so perhaps they really aren't listening just like that rule dictates...
