Logged in today to see a set of behaviors classified as a sploit (taking larger-than-allowed ships to FW complexes), but I would still like more deets please.
Are we prohibited from using sneaky game mechanic-tactics to get into complexes or prohibited from taking ships larger-than-allowed to the acceleration gate at all? An interested party would like to know.

AFAIK the acceleration gate limits the size of ships that can enter the complex.
Any ship can warp to the acceleration gate.
In all the complexes we have done, there have been no restricted ships present!

I would like to know as well...
Is it allowed, for example, to sit in a Deimos or Brutix at a level 1 acceleration gate and wait for evil slavers?
An answer would be appreciated, the GM notice is VERY thin. ---

Almost certainly.

That should be fine.

I believe people are getting confused.
There is a way, that using a fast ship, you can fly the 10,000km to the deadspace pocket. By doing so, you arent restricted by the gate itself. However, this has always been the case, and always is made public etc (hence my posting here). So in that regards, i dont believe it is an exploit as such.
As to whether its a good tactic, i dont believe it is. But folks will always exploit loopholes.
Any official word CCP?

Taking a large ship to the acceleration gate isn't an exploit afaik. Taking a large ship that cannot use the acceleration gate but uses other methods to get into the complex has been deemed as an exploit according to the news item on the log-in page.

Bad damn my sad life - Been logged in so long, i didnt see it get posted :D
Confirmed however:
Quote: Exploit notification reported by: GM Grimmi | 2008.07.03 15:14:10
Flying bigger class ships than allowed by the jump gates to Factional Warfare complexes has been classed as an exploit. If you are found doing this we will be forced to take in-game actions as abusing game mechanics is not allowed.

I remember it took me half an hour to get a 7km/s ares to enter a T1 frig plex , flying manually. It takes a stupidly long time to cross 10000km without a perma-MWD nanoship.
Now , if people manage to reach the plex from out of deadspace grids , that's another thing.

This is a bit unreasonable. Why are FW plexes closer to their acceleration gates than static plexes or missions? If players aren't supposed to slowboat to the complex, CCP could've set the distance at 100000km instead.
No offense to GM Grimmi, but could we get a confirmation from a game designer that the distance wasn't meant to be so short?

An exploit (from the same word in the French language, meaning "achievement", or "accomplishment") is a piece of software, a chunk of data, or sequence of commands that take advantage of a bug, glitch or vulnerability in order to cause unintended or unanticipated behavior to occur on computer software, hardware, or something electronic (usually computerized).
Okay. So CCP classifys FLYING through space in your ship through multiple grids an exploit. And an exploit to CCP is something not intended by the game mechanics. Is flying not an intended game mechanic. If a person sets out in a battleship/battlecruiser/cruiser going 200m/s a second, its going to take a long time to arrive.
And in that time their slowboating to the plex, it can be entered and capped by the allowed ships.
CCP is acting like an Fing IDIOT calling this an exploit, or its only classifying it as an exploit just to make people not do it so they can implement some feature to stop it from happening. -.-
This is one of the few times I have been very disapointed by CCP

Most funny to see bearlover devs going out of their way to do exactly the opposite of what CCP announced during last years fanfest: Making EVE-online a violent pvp-oriented game not suited for teletubbie-lala land carebears.." How quickly people forget.
They should just cut the crap already and decide what to do with EVE once and for all and then stick to it consequently.. If you go for pvp then quit nerfing and sabotaging pirates ffs. And please fire that moron gm before everyone except him and his boyfriend turns to age of conan Please flame to your hearts contempt

Still I run the directional scanner when I'm a plex like that (or when sitting still in 0.0 and low sec), I'd have to be pretty dense not to see the nano ship MWDing for a half an hour to get in there. __________________________________________________

Join a 0.0 corp and PVP to your hearts content. Just because they add a option for a more regulated PVP don't mean they are taking anything away from full open 0.0 PVP.
The universe does not revolve around YOU. There is nothing wrong with giving options like this for people who enjoy it.
Some people actually like even matches. In any case if you don't like FW regulations PVP IN 0.0! NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO PLAY FW.
This whole generation of MMO players is swarmed by mass amounts of spoiled crybabies constantly whining about every detail.
I say Cheers to CCP for having the courage to break from the WoW clone like so many others to make a truely unique MMO.
If CCP was just worried about cash over content players would not be lootable. Your ship wouldn't be destroyed when you get killed. They wouldn't have everything that your able to do in 0.0

Some people don¦t want to be nameless drones lost in their pwnsauce alliances and politics. Leave the "go to 0.0, open full on PvP" deluded talk to weeping bears. Also, interesting how you praise CCP for making EvE different than WoW, but at the same time you promote turning 0.0 into a separate "proper" PvP server.
And just to quote you...

Edited by: Doonoo Boonoo on 04/07/2008 11:36:39 It's pretty simple.
If you take a ship in to a complex that is bigger than those that can legally get through the gate it's an exploit. It doesn't matter how you get it there.
CCP have spoken. It's Petitionable and an exploit.

Just exactly, what is a "sploit"? Is that the sound your pod emanates when you suddenly make a panicked run from a fight, and hit a roid? SPLOIT!

Seems like the only ones crying here are the ganking pirates who SAY they want open PvP anywhere. God forbid they are now forced to play on more even terms in the plexes. OH NOES!!!
And just as an example I was in a fleet in turnur just last night. We were doing plexes and taking back the contested area in Turnur when an Abbadon and a Navy Faction Mega warped on the Major Complex gate which did not allow them to pass through, but boy oh boy they sure liked popping the frigs trying to get through that gate.
Point being: Stop your crying you Pirate noobs and start adjusting your game play. PvP in low sec is higher than ever and all we hear is "WAHH we can't use our gank ships in Low sec to get our jollies anymore"

Artificially restricting combat because of "Only frigs and cruisers are allowed in here even though it is possible to slowboat into the complex because ... uh... yeah..." does not equal open PvP. Summa sumarum: they DO want open PvP. You want to be protected from uneven fights.

This is one of the few times I have been very disapointed by CCP
I am quitting the game, but not because of this issue, but because I got bored with being griefed all the time while trying to do puny mining operations in sec 1.0 systems.
But I have to agree. The game design has got a bit out of hand here. They class flying a ship to a destination an exploit, but apparently tricks such as stealing cargo then waiting for the original owner to steal it back so that they can kill you for free is not an exploit, even in a sec 1.0 system.
Has the game become so big that the game design has developed its own poltics? Is the feeling of being a 'second class citizen' when you are a new player intentional? When at a stroke they make such a decision that on the face of it seems catastrophic to the integrity of the overall design while at the same time they leave new players struggling with relatively easy to fix problems that cause major grief, one has to wonder.
I was foolish, in that I did not bother with the trial and bought an account right away. Why? I had heard great things about the game. I did not realise that I heard these great things from a group of players who have at their head a player who has been playing for several years and has become quite powerful.
Yes. Eve has perhaps become too realistic in the wrong areas. Being a nobody is realistic, but it is not much fun.
A little rant I know, but I paid for the privilidge.
