Has anyone tried fitting a pvp marauder? I would have at first assumed that it would only be good for missions then I started looking into it and experimenting with fittings on EFT. Think about it, with the damage bonus, a marauder will do as much damage with its 4 guns as a normal BS will do with 8 And that leaves 4 other high slots for nos, neuts, cloak, and other fun stuff. If you have the money to afford one I think it could actually prove to be a valid PvP ship. __________________________________________________ |

They are fine pvp ships, albeit just a bit too expensive =)
So isk wise your much better of in an insurable t1 bs.

3 extra highs. Limited grid/cpu
My paladin preformed well on sisi with a dual rep with megapulse, but I dont think I was able to fit much because of MWD/dual rep/megapulse takes up most of your grid. You can fit a tank (and I suggest you do), but other that, your midslot options are limited.

Low scan res, price, it's not a viable ship although it is very strong.

If you want to fly a Marauder in PvP, I suggest you vamp up the Falcon whinage on the forums, because one of those will ruin your day.
Way too easy to take out of fight and super expensive. And not THAT much more effective than a pimped t1 BS. You can bet you will be called primary, makes the killboard stats look sexy.
Feel free to do it though. Maybe for gate-camping aligned to station, all ready for the warp out. __________________________________________________

I've seen a couple of Kronos used pretty effectively in combat. You need to fit eccm to it though. It needs to be in a gang because it has no tackle of it's own. But when it gets in range spews death. -

Edited by: Lord WarATron on 04/07/2008 07:30:05 Low scan res = bad pvp ships
Good luck when some cruiser puts 5 light ecm drones on you. And before you say "Ah ha, I will use 2 x ECCM on my pvp golem", just remember that you are three slots down from a raven then (-1 mid, -1 low, -1 rig) thus defeating the point.
If you define pvp as "50 vs 1" gank on a gatecamp that runs whenever something dangerous comes in and operate in a area where nobody sets traps, then yeah you can use it. Heck, in a 50 v 1,it wont matter what ship you use. --

I was thinking of a Kronos for a while. Ended up with a cheaper navy mega that does the same damage, tanks better (allthough not active) and has way more sensor strengh. I can see no reason to use a Kronos over a navy mega. ___

The problem with Marauders is that anything they can do, a T1 BS can do far cheaper.
But if you've got the ISK, who cares?

Edited by: Ioci on 04/07/2008 09:33:39 None of the T2 Battleships have proven the worth. A Rattlesnake/ nightmare/ the other two I can't name would be faster to train, make your character more versatile and dominate in PvP. Marauders and Black Ops were failures and liabilites in a Nano electronoc warfare game that is now Eve. If you can affor a Marauder, you can afford a split faction battleship. Someone pointed out, you get primary either way so fly gank or you won't keep it long.
Oh, then there is the Insurance thing. My rigged T2 fitted Redeemer cost 1.2 billion. Insurance? 200 mill platnium payout. |

it¦s like if you were designing a SUV for a car manufacturer, hey lets only make it with frontwheel drive. seal the speed at 50km/h and skip the cupholder... but we will have an awesome new paint job on them so we expect ppl to buy them
sure some ppl will buy them....but are they happy with them well maybe missionrunners are with the golem
C¦mon CCP fix the T2 BS ( and remove local chat :))

Problems with Marauders and PvP:
* cruiser-like sensor strength = jambait ; you have to sacrifice at least one, if not two slots for ECCM and still not be safe even from pathetic ECM drones, so you might as well not even bother ; and since ECM started making a comeback in PVP, it's very easy to become completely powerless
* lower-than-average signature resolution means you lock slower, combine that with jam vulnerability and you have a big problem
* huge signature radius = get scanned-down faster (especially in combination with the sensor strength), get hit more accurately, get locked faster - so overall, combined with the above, you start applying damage later, getting more damage on you normally and have a higher chance of getting interrupted
* last but not least, UNINSURABLE and damned pricy
All in all, unless you're loaded with cash and have no idea what to throw them on, going into PvP with a Marauder is almost totally stupid - you're usually better off in a FACTION battleship, and the T1 version works just fine too.
