The real problem with nanos imho is not so much that they move so fast and are hard to hit and stuff, but the ease of them disengaging. So maybe this could be fixed by simply not allowing warping with active MWDs? It even makes sense in a way, as you kinda are already (micro)warping. So instead of just hitting warp to something when you notice you bit off more than you can chew, in a nanoship you would now have to turn your MWD off, wait for the current cycle to end, wait for your ship to decelerate to a viable 'enter-warp-velocity' and only then warp to safety, which would give opponents a viable window of opportunity to kill the pesky nano. Allthewhile the zoom zoom stuff that seems to be fun to so many, the ability of ships with very short range to get in close and the speed of travel that to me is the only really good reason to nano up in the first place would remain exactly as they are currently.
Now flame away.

best nano fix would be to put a speed cap on ships or remove polycarbons, inertia stabilizers, nanofibers and snake implants. game would be balanced then just can't go as fast.

RR BS'es already are extremely pwoerful, and no nanogang can beat them 1:1 unless they bring like 50% falcons.

Whats so wrong with making it so that MWD gives you its 550% boost and boosts straight line speed. This makes sense because its a warp bubble. Then, the MWD could be really used for things like burning to gates, or getting from point A to point B really quickly
Also they could boost Afterburners a good amount, and making THAT the new choice for normalPVP.

So perhaps in theory an afterburner using ship could over heat and fly perpendicular to the mwd ship and maybe avoid web range?

This would require a total rewrite of the physics engine in use.
Currently everything faster is a lot more manouverable (they tried to get this to work back when they where rethinking missiles, that didn't work out and now we have ended up with silly explosion radius and velocity).

Why would it need a rewrite of the physics system? Keep the MWD the way it is, and make it so that when the MWD is active, the ship ignores all directional input,

The whole issue is that speed is both offense and defense in same stat. And that devs gave up balancing speed long time ago - and opted for on/off crutches.
Speed needs some decoupling - think tractor beaming enemy or MWD that only warps towards nearby objects and ships.
Also Estamel fit is over the top by design - I mean snakes and polycarbs. Just admit this game does have true epic gear.

The game has many powerful ships or powerful combinations of ships that past a number of gang participants using them the game becomes boringly dangerous to their enemies... st Blobing another gang with nano-ships is very effective...a nicely co-ordinated RR BS fleet can work some magic while blobbing enemy fleets with many-many Falcons is frustrating to the level of abuse!
It's just that this game has a lot of players willing to sacrifice a lot for a victory - honorable or not: nanoes are the only thing that can help you nothing more than fleeing, cause few options are left when you are blobbed by either a nano-gang, a RR-BS gang or a (agrgrgrrg) multiple falcon supported gang...
They key word is blobbing, as ambushing outnumbered players was and will be the most effective tactic of em all, no matter your or their ships.
No if we are talking small scale engagnements or 1 vs. 1, it's mentioned in 1000+++ posts that there are numerous tactics and modules for someone to fend off or even kill a nano-ship. It's not like a "i-win" button vs. them, just like no nano-ship has an "i-win" button vs. BSs or something. And above all, no fitting can have it all: if you are in a PvE oriented ship, attacked by a ship fitted especially to kill your kind...live with it...stop hammering screws instead of nails... When you get primaried in a fast ship you don't warp out, you burn out of range, your proposal have no use whatsoever.
Trying to warp out will often get you killed, and actually get many noob interceptor pilot. Your align time is actually longer with the mwd than without because of the mass increase, making you often slow down during alignment just enough so you get popped by "those missiles that never hit nano ships". -- Coming to you, Assault Ships fix, by the people saying that the Gallente Recons are fine. |

One 'fix' could be to introduce a deadspace bubble generator similar to interdiction spheres that reduce an MWDs effectiveness/shut it down completely. But if CCP introduce sub-system targetting in can see nanos becoming old news very quickly.

infact what i think is that all implants should be taken out all together
maybe all the ships and skills to, just leave 1 ship that everybody can fly with a standard ccp fit that needs no trainning for and is not changable so evreybody has to use the same ship + fitting and perfect 'balance' is brought to the game
sounds awsome right? |

Saying "fly a Rapier" isn't showing any more thought than someone who doesn't want to fly one. When there is only one specific ship that gives you a chance of killing a nanoship that wants to get away, it's not rocket science that you should be using that ship. Whether or not this is a desirable situation is what these "mindless" people are complaining about.
I don't think the OP's suggestion is very good, but something ought to be done about the necessity of MWD use in combat. I think MWDs in general are too good; the module that allows you to pick your fights shouldn't be the same module that most effectively allows you to avoid enemy fire. It seems to me that afterburners should be better for maneuvering around and making yourself hard to hit, and MWDs should be better for getting in and out of combat. They'd both be useful that way and you'd fit your ship according to what you wanted to do with it, but right now MWD are better at everything and afterburners just suck. I think that ought to be addressed before nanos specifically start getting messed with.
I'd suggest increasing the sig radius penalty of MWDs and increasing the speed bonus that afterburners give. I couldn't even begin to give an informed opinion on what numbers would be balanced, but that's the sort of change I would like to see.
