They're still at it, ganking random miners in high sec space, in some cases the same ones over and over. What do they gain from it? Most of the time nothing, because most of the miners don't use any expensive modules, the only real expensive thing is often the ship itself. They gain nothing from this in most cases, it's nothing but griefing.

I think they did something about it by bringing the servers up after DT.
Oh wait, they support this behavior!

If people stopped acting so careless all the time in Hi-sec and actually took some precautions to aid their survival this wouldn't happen. ...

Never, because that would take the fun out of their whine thread meetings.
CEO: Ok guys, what do we have today? Mitnal: 3 threads about jihadswarm, 5 threads about suicide ganking in general, 2 nanowhines, etcetc. Group: (slight lulz while reading over them), But really, that's all? We have to invest more into marketing to get MOAR CAREBEARS!
They feed on your tears. As they should be.

How was it? CONCORD provide consequencies, not safety. Is it hard to put some standings to them, see when they are in local, safe spot, dock untill they leave?
It's easier to come whine huh ?!

They have done something about it, it's called joining something other than an NPC corp, it's called Local + setting standing, aligning to a station, skills, modules, being not AFK/drunk, and not a whiner.<P>
Had yet another ore thief/can flipper mess with me the other night, well he found out the hardway that I keep a web, a scrambler, a NOS, 30k in armor, and packs of T2 drones on board. How do I do that? I mine with a DOMI when the idiots are about. (That's what local and setting standing is about.) It takes alot of suicide gankers to take down a battleship in one pass, because that's about all they'll get between Concord & the drones. With the right skills/modules a BS will just about out mine anything (other than the 3 strip laser barges) and still be able to deal the pain.

Weeell… it can be griefing, but that would require a focus and determination that those poor goons simply lack.

The miners that got ganked were probably breaking the number 1 rule of eve, pay attention!
I have yet to lose a mining ship, both in empire and 0.0. It is simple. Pay attention. Set standings, and don't make yourself an easy target. You get web, warp scram, drones, whatever else.. anything that makes then think twice about attacking you.
Eve has ways to fight back and not get ganked.. its their own fault that they (or the op..) got ganked. --------------------------

Well....
I BELIEVE if a person was getting ganking multiple times you could petition it for harrasment IF... You were in a Player CORP.
Why Well if you really wanted to go after a person you should be creating a war dec on them.
IF you can't because they are in a NPC corp then they are exploiting a game mechanic themselves so they really don't have a leg to stand on. 2 wrongs do not make a right.
So if the goons are targeting NPC corp players then they are effectively targeting a group that is already exploiting a game mechanic. but if the Goons are going after people in player corps they need to be opening war dec's.
This president was set by privateers and really and should be carried through to all further actions.

As a minner you have much time to ponder things, I know that is how I started the game. While you are minning away you should devise an evil plan to hit your tormentors back, or just fustrate the hell out of them. Perhapse involving remote reps and lasers?

People forget the basics. See a goon in local and are all chattery-teeth scared about losing that barge? Log/dock/safe. Have trouble IDing goons in local? Set your standings for their entire alliance so they're easier to spot.
Not rocket science.
