Now, try to find the part where it says that climate change fear-mongering pushed that kid into lunacy. If you're having a hard time with this simple task, here's a tip: it may be because it is not there.
That premise - ie: "The warming preachers truly are driving people mad with fear" - is an opinion Andrew Bolt pulled out from his nether regions.
Oh, you're right. It is impossible for the weekly news reports of global warming, political debates in every nation, science debates, intentional forms of fear mongering, and statements from world leaders, and the boy's own political leader describing a future of little water, to manifest themselves into the minds of of people who may be mentally effected.
The aim of politics is to keep the populace alarmed and clamorous to be saved by menacing it with imaginary hobgoblins. The urge to save humanity is a false front for the urge to rule it. |

Bingo Just in the past 150 years, we have had FOUR trends : first it was "oh no ice age is coming", then "no, wait, global warming gaaaah", then again the "damn upcoming ice age" and now we're back to "we're all going to boil" nonsense.

Ah, but you see, that's precisely neither the explicit premise of that opinion piece ("climate change discussion is making kids go crazy"), nor the implicit one ("climate change is a delusion").
Mentally ill patients will pick on whatever it is, be it climate change or stock market reports or Hello Kitty, and create some deranged fantasy in their heads based on it. Such as that his drinking of water will cause millions to die within days, or that Hello Kitty will force him into a gay marriage run by Al-Qaeda.
Go find any climate change literature (not written by a certified lunatic, that is) and show me anything that remotely implies that drinking water will cause millions to die within days.
The irony of course is that you and Andrew Bolt claim to be fighting fear-mongering and bullsh*t by spouting out more fear-mongering and bullsh*t.
But then again, this is the sort of blatant demagoguery you'd expect from someone who has to resort to fallaciously identify the climate change discussion with Al Gore (another demagogue) to debase it.

You should try making your argument against the physicians who named his delusion, Climate Change Delusion.
Oh no - associating proponents of anthropogenic global warming with the man who shared a NOBEL PEACE PRIZE for trying to create a consensus of global warming! Someone may go nuts because of that. The award went 50% Al Gore, 50% IPCC.

"We describe a patient with climate change delusion... The patient had also developed the belief that, due to climate change, his own water consumption could lead within days to the deaths of 'millions of people' through exhaustion of water supplies".
And if they happen to describe a schizophrenic patient who believes that everytime he inhales tobacco smoke Chutulu arises from his sleep and proceeds to devour the entire population of a random city in the American midwest, as having the "tobacco smoke" delusion, would that also mean the harms of tobacco smoke are also a delusion?
Of course not. But so far you seem to be too thick to grasp this simple concept.

And yet, when nation leaders from all over the world discuss the measures to be taken to help curb climate change - including none other that George Bush himself - they don't do so based on "An Inconvenient Truth", do they? They do so based on what their own scientists - yes, including those employed by the White House - and what the IPCC scientists are saying.
"An Incovenient Truth", even with its flaws (playing with emotion, cherry-picking worst case scenarios, etc...) contributed to "disseminating the greater knowledge of man-made climate change", and that's what the Nobel price recognized. But Al Gore had as much of a role contributing to the scientific research behind climate change that is used today by policy makers, as I did in penning any of the Pixies' albums, no matter how much I may appreciate and proselytize those.

Here's a wild new concept for you: AND.
For instance take the following two statements:
A: Climate has always been changing of its own and will always continue to do so.
B: Our research shows that the crap we keep pouring into the atmosphere and oceans is affecting and causing changes in climate.
Without the magic of AND, one would arrive at your conclusion.
But once we incorporate that word into our vernacular we have:
C: Climate has always been changing of its own and will always continue to do so AND our research shows that the crap we keep pouring into the atmosphere and oceans is affecting and causing additional changes on climate.
That wasn't hard, was it? We can't really do anything about A, but we certainly can do something about B.

Word to the wise: NEVER live near flowing water. Water can not be contained - it's nature's best solvent.
The Netherlands seems to have done quite well for the last 500 years? Except that one teeny bit in Zeeland... But at least that was taken care of :)
Oh, and OT:
If something happens, it happens. There's nothing we can do about such global scale events.
And for the doomsayers:
All those events have happened before. They will happen again. There's absolutely no point in worrying over something like this. If you're really that worried, try and use the time you think you have constructively instead of acting like a crazy beggar with a cardboard sign saying "DA WURLD IZ DOOMD".

Not this shit again. Here's a fact: BOTH SIDES ARE INCREDIBLY BIASED. when it comes to climate change and all that stuff.
It's true that CO2 values are off the roof because of us, but it's the freaking water-vapour that makes up for most of the whatever heating effect is called. Earth has gotten warmer -> cooler -> repeat and is right now on a -> warmer period, so it's pretty much expected that it will get hotter.
If you're so incredibly ALL OVER this BS: since you're reading this on a forum for internet space ship games it means that you're wasting power and just making it workse. Why don't you just sell all your posessions and go become a hermit in some cave instead? That'd certainly help.
If there's any problem then it's the people that's the problem - there's simply too many of them. Can't we have a WW3 or reprocess useless people into biomass for food or fertilizer instead? You know these ******ed people on wheelchairs with brain malfuctions or the people in a vegatable state? I'd certainly eat meatballs made from them.
While we're already on about world disasters, I've got high expectations on the large hardon collider. I hope something hilarious happens. ---

I saw a documentary on The Discovery channel. They went the history of earth there have been multiple volcanic eruptions that were followed by distinctly colder years.
I can not find a graph that showed what they were looking at, but they had one that somehow showed the levels of CO2 and other "green house" gasses were in the atmosphere. This graph had a massive spike in the timeline post the industrial revolution. I do not fall into the doomsayers, but I find it hard to believe that human consumption of fossil fuels and other things has not had an effect on current climate changes.
NASA posts an increase in CO2 in our atmosphere as high as 25% since the 1800's. That is no small change people.
San Diego State University - Volcanic Eruptions and their effect on climate
volcano.und.edu- Carbon Dioxide
Present-day carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from subaerial and submarine volcanoes are uncertain at the present time. Gerlach (1991) estimated a total global release of 3-4 x 10E12 mol/yr from volcanoes. This is a conservative estimate. Man-made (anthropogenic) CO2 emissions overwhelm this estimate by at least 150 times.
When you see these types of numbers and you can look at the fossil records and see drops in global temperature when historicall large volcanic eruptions it is hard to say that we are causing global warming, but I also find it hard to belive that we are not having an effect of sometype. If we are releasing massive amounts of chemicals in the air it has to be doing something.
To those that say oh we are humans, there is no way we can be responsible for these types of things because we are insignificant when it comes to the life of the earth, you are not opening eyes very wide. If what you say is true then sewage would have never caused problems for environments and chemical dumping into streams and rivers would have not caused ecological disasters. We are humans and we have an impact on our environment. Now how you handle yourself in this light is up to you. I prersonally limit waste as much as I can, I use my vehicle as little as possible, and I do many of the little things that have been suggested, but I do not go all freaky about it.

Your are correct, I got all jumbled up while at work and new I should not have posted all that stuff when I started to get all jumbled. The main point is that we are throwing a bunch of stuff into our atmosphere which measures more then the dust and the sulphur containing gases that are emitted with large volcanic eruptions. If those eruptions caused the problems that they did, is it not reasonable to realize that all the stuff we are throwing into the atmosphere is, at the best eventually, going to have detrimental effects?
P.S. I am no global warming chest thumper. I just think that things have gotten out of hand in the past and some things need reconciling
