When Trinity was released it including the first step in moving to the new engine, the models for ships, gates and stations.
Empyrean Age expansion hit and we didn't really see any additional graphical love, but we got some great FW.
With whispers of an industrial oriented winter expansion, will we start to see more graphical love from the new engine? New weapon effects? Engine effects? Higher resolution background? Feels like Trinity has burned in enough to see some forward movement on that front. |

Walking around in stations is apparently the only issue important enough for Noah to take seriously so that's about it dont think you'll see anything coming until he gets out. Dont expect any game fixes either.

I am on your side! I will kidnap more kittens for later use!
Our demands are: Ambulation with the next big patch
OR we WILL start killing those poor kittens EVERY DAY that we have to wait for ambulation after the release day of the latest expansion patch!
Think of the kittens!

i think of the small things.
Bring on the T3 items and ships(? are there gonna be ships, please say there is, i wants new ships, big ships, lots of ships, shiny ships, small ships that feel big, big ships that act small, just gimme some ships).
with ambulation, we also gonna supposedly have "bars" and meeting areas in stations you reckon we will get bar games too like roids or space wars? http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=792173&page=2 |

Graphically, the biggest additions will be Ambulation (my bets for the winter expansion) and the overhaul of weapon effects, which is what I assume the most of the graphics people have been working on since Trinity came out. I'd also love to see new background (and planets).
Gameplay wise, I'm hoping for: -Lots and lots of fixes/improvements based on suggestions from the CSM -Expanded mechanics for heat and T3 -Revamp of 0.0 sovereignty mechanics to resemble FW-style mechanics -Lots of new stuff for industrialists/market dynamic improvements
Any one of those and I would be happy. ---------------- Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.83 (Updated 7/3) |

Do people actually play EVE with the upgraded graphics? They look nice, but I stick to classic for the performance, especially while running multiple clients on the same box.

This.
Or maybe Trinity graphics in the official Linux client?

Do people actually play EVE with the old graphics? They look awful, I can't stand them after having used premium since trinity was released, and my computer is decent enought to not be affected by any preformance hits.

Yes, yes they do. I know I do. I like my games pretty. And my bronze Amarr hull just has such a lovely sheen. And it looks silver under a blue/white star too! - - - Aloriana Jacques - Skill Sheet

For larger scale game mechanic changes, I'd love to see at least the first steps of the exploration overhaul. Space exploration, in my opinion is fundamental to scifi space immersion.
I don't want it to become easy, or dumbed downed. As I think most agree, I'd like to see it more interactive and rewarding. Starring and the scanner timer going "come on! come on!" over and over has not proven to be enjoyable for me.

I want a new death animation.
instead of the ship vanishing instantly in a conclusion wave, I want chunks to go flying off as the hull is vaporized by a bsg style starburst explosion, it doesn't have to do any damage or bounce off nearby ships but it would look sweet.
basically, I want ships exploding to look like this.
I also want new, pretty curving missile animations with long smoke trails behind them that linger in space, painting the battlefield in a crisscross of angled clouds. __________________________________________________ |

I would rather CCP just dump Transgaming altogether. Atleast for linux.

Well I remember in one of the older E-ON issues that they stated that the ship overhaul and station overhaul was indeed just the beginning.
After that they would do the backgrounds and planets. But that went awful silent to be honest after Trinity hit hmmm

tbh, on the new vs old gfx argument, with a decent gfx card the new gfx run faster than the old due to revamp in coding.

I would personally like to see the classic content being used with the newer engine. If not for the fact that the classic engine has a horrible Z-Buffering implementation and doesn't use the GPU for most of the rendering, I would switch back in a heartbeat.
But I'm stuck with a choice between a buggy and inefficient renderer with low resource usage, or a decent renderer with abysmally high resource usage. ____________________ Pimped out Raven to run level 4 missions quickly: 210 Mil ISK. Turn off the shadows and HDR, run in fullscreen, and it'll actually run quite smooth.

I'm talking about memory usage and vector calculations. I like my applications to be on the conservative side. High polygon models and huge textures tend to consume too much ram and limit my frame rate. Whether HDR is enabled or not, it's nowhere as smooth as the classic client. ____________________ Pimped out Raven to run level 4 missions quickly: 210 Mil ISK. Actually, many many ships had their visuals improved. It was a bit more subtle than old->trinity but should certainly be noticable... ------------------ Screw God. In Chribba we trust! |

+1 for the graphics update crowd from me too, id love to see some of those new ship destructions, also hybrid turret effects are pretty cringeworthy at the moment :) awesome job on it all so far though!

I've heard before that a lot of EVE players run on slightly older machines. I appreciate the fact that CCP wouldn't want to totally alienate those players by doing anything extreme. However I have a machine that I built a couple of years ago and I sit close to 100FPS most of the time.
Feels like there is is a little wiggle room for some additional graphics enhancement. Maybe like most MMO games today, we'd see more sliders for graphics adjustments to satisfy everybody.
Like others have said, a nice big sound overhaul would be great as well. Give me a fleet battle in 5.1 with my subwoofer thumping. Yes Please! |
