Okay time to play! I saw the Sins thread and so I guess it is "game on" time. Join the ingame channel "Mechs Rule" and lets get going! I personally feel the MekTek patches add a lot to the game but they are not a necessity and we can play with just the PR patches from Micro$oft if you all prefer.
I really hope there is enough interest to justify this, as this game is pretty radical and I am sure everyone who has ever played it remembers it fondly...
We will of course be playing on Hamachi.

Edited by: Robert Rosenberg on 14/07/2008 10:11:45 We can set up a ladder league if we get enough people! Convince your corp to pirate it and start a team, maybe we can work out a tournament or something.
I wanna see Goonswarm Atlas VS. BOB Shadowcat MK. II!

I'm in as long as the mektek patches are left out of it, they suck balls, and all this is mute

Yeah but I do not want to play with a bunch of professionals, I want to play against a bunch of other people who just reinstalled last week and are novice at best and who ALSO have EVE in common with me.
What is your beef with MekTek?

A lot of the "clan" I was in left MWL after Mektek 2.0(IIRL) and MWL moved to Mektek patched only games. & since Mektek patches for a lot of us were bugged to hell and back with hitpoint locations, it also enabled a lot more questionable tactics.
It might be blind of me to say Mektek caused the clan to split but it was the catalyst.

I hope that turns out good but that "total conversion" is sounding more ambitious than some feature releases so I doubt it ever gets anywhere.
And Mechwarrior lol FOX'd.

MW4:Mercs. Ahh, a worthy (albeit more arcadey) sucessor to MW2:Mercs. IMHO, MW2:Mercs = epitome of perfected mech combat. -

As bad as MW4 graphics are, MW2 make me nauseous.
EDIT: And I am on vent right now with a friend and we wanna play, anyone wanna join in for a 2v2 or an FFA or something?

The configurations system basically, MechWarrior 3 was the last to use the flexible configuration options, 4 uses dedicated slots for specific systems, making it harder to mix-and-match the configs on the mechs, taking away a lot of the flexibility and variation you could get out of the different mechs.

The MekTek patches bring back omni-points. And personally I like the mechs being unique, if every mech is exactly the same, just with different tonnage and a new model that would be pretty boring.
I like having laser mechs, missile mechs, gun mechs, fast mechs, slow mechs, omni mechs, etc. Not every mech is a Chimera.

While that is true, and I did tend to stick to what the mech was designed for, I really liked making my own descisions in terms of how much firepower I packed onto a mech. (with spectacular failure happening almost as often as succes) Nothing says "powa" in a brainless way as a mech that can 1-shot anything up to a 70 ton heavy but shuts down from overheating immediately after a single alpha strike. (or blows its reactor apart, which happened the first few times I tried making one like that) Or an atlas fitted with 4 Ultra AC20s (and requiring reloads of ammo every couple of minutes)
You could have a lot of fun with crazy configs.

You can still do that with MW4 stock! You ought to re-install and have a go at it with me, I fitted a Black Knight with dual Clan Ultra AC20 and a medium x-pulse laser. Then I re-fit with a full x-pulse/ppc loadout. Then I tried pumping up the engine speed, fitting jump jets, and loading up a bunch of clan machineguns and CSRMs for fast and close strafe brawling...
There is a TON of variety inherent to each mech, and if you do not believe me go ahead and install and play a bit!

I just might do that, its been a while since I played MechWarrior (either 3 or 4) and besides, the Clan Mech Pack is a lot of fun to use.

Edited by: Meiyang Lee on 15/07/2008 18:17:19 True Kirjava, although in MechCommander (either I or II) the heavy tanks at higher difficulty posed a serious threat to mechs, especially the larger slow mechs. Triple heavy gauss tended to mess up the armor plating to no end.
