Edited by: Mark Hamill on 16/07/2008 19:55:46 From the maker of EVEReprocessor -EVETycoon is a powerful marketing tool for the EVE-Online community designed to give current and accurate pricing and market volume information for any item found on the market or in the EVE Universe.
Using only exports from the EVE client, ET is able to give instant, accurate information unlike other programs that rely on others to upload data.
Features Include:
Market Overview: Quickly see detailed, accurate and up-to-the-minute pricing and volume information on the mineral market in any region you export.
Reprocessor: Virtually reprocess any item found in the EVE universe based on your skills and instantly see the pricing information on it's mineral components.
My Order/Corporation Order analyzer: Import My Order and Corporation Order exports from the EVE client and quickly see profit margins and other calculations not available in the client, including previously sold and bought items with a market order history tracker.
Market Analyzer: Export market information from the EVE client and after importing into EVETycoon, you can instantly spot potentially profitable trades including current sales volumes.
Character Accounting/Corporation Accounting: Using the optional API interface EVETycoon can analyze you or your corporation wallet and provide valuable data including such information as customer volume, station volume and item volume of sales and purchases.
Mineral Calculator - Valuable to miners and industrialists alike, the mineral calculator calculator is designed to instantly take any volume of any base mineral or salvage and provide instant pricing information. Save and re-load calculations for items such as blueprints to instantly see the value of the minerals required.
Export File Manager - EVETycoon with it's standalone partner program EVE Marketlog Manager easily identifies outdated and obsolete market export files and optionally deletes or archives them.
In development for over 7 months with dozens of closed beta testers, EVETycoon is now a stable and powerful marketing tool available for open beta testing. To join the EVETycoon Open beta and download your copy, please join in-game channel EVETycoon and read the MOTD. More information is available from the in-game mailing list EVETycoonMail.

Good to see this one is still going. I thought it had bitten the bullet a while back.
Will give it a go at some point. I'm intrigued as to how some of the features actually perform. --------------------------------------

Well, I had some other projects I needed to finish and since ET is at present a hobby project, I had to put it off to the side for a while.
But yes, it is still ongoing and in development. I have quite a few testers who still give me feedback and keep pushing me forward toward a non-beta release.

Erm, I hope it does ;) It was developed in Delphi on Vista home premium so it should work on x64. Since you're the only one I know interested in it using x64, I'd be really interested in having you test it.

I used the prior version on Vista 64 and encountered no problems at all.
The only annoyance I've had with the program is that when you reload the exports it switches your region to the first one in the listbox, would be nice if it remained the same.

I'd have to agree. That's an annoyance to me as well. For now though I'll ask you to suffer through that extra mouse click with me until I get ticked off enough to remedy it. EVETycoon Marketing, trading and reprocessing tool. |

Would you be willing to open the source? I'd feel more comfortable compiling it myself after having reviewed the code for key loggers or their ilk.

To be quite frank, the answer to that is no.
Now for the long answer.
I've been writing software for use with EVE for almost 2 years now, including EVEReprocessor. I've made this statement before. But for the benefit of those who didn't read my ancient history the reasons are as follows:
1. I write in an archaic language called Delphi with lots of components from outside sources. My source code wouldn't do you much good.
2. I write this for me. I give it to you. If you wish to use it, you may do so. If you do not, do not.
3. I'm 43 years old and a self-taught programmer. Not only do I do things my way in defiance of contemporary methods, I'm also old, grumpy, stubborn and a plain out ass at times. And no offense to you IT grads, but the last thing I need in my life is a pack of binge drinking college students with dreams of comp science majors telling me how I can improve my software by clogging it up with SQL, .NET, SOAP and a host of other mind boggling acronyms some geeky college professor told them about in a lecture once.
EVETycoon is nothing more than a glorified calculator and from what I understand, Texas Instruments is still in the business of making those. You're free to do it the long way if you wish.
I've told users with my previous software releases that they're free to block it with a firewall, watch it with a packet sniffer, install it on a machine without the EVE client, whatever you wish to test it and make yourself feel comfortable that it's safe. But in the end, as with any software you download, if you don't feel safe, quite simply, don't use it.
The only assurance I can give you is this is not my first software offering to the EVE community. My character hasn't been banned yet and thus far, nobody has wardec'd me as a result of releasing my software without source.
The source is mine and will remain that way indefinitely.

Quite a generalization there...as it stands, I am fully proficient in Delphi and have absolutely no issues with off the wall programming styles.
Will I give ita try...probably not. Completely irrelevant of the play money here, I have no desire to have people hacking into my bank account IRL, and you aren't exactly Intuit or Microsoft.
That said, wish ya the best...the screenshots look great and I would have loved to use it. I'm sure you put lots of work into it.

Please don't even compare me to Microsoft. We all know their skill at making bug free, secure programs that allow others to hack into your bank account via e-mail attachments. Just be glad I'm not CCP. If I were, I'd trash your boot.ini file.

Just had a quick play and I love the fact you dont have to install anything else to get it to work. Just ran the installer and bingo, up and running.
It's very stable, and does what it says on the box.
Good work.

Thank you. It actually uses just simple CSV text files for it's databases and file parser to read them. No SQL or other overhead to install. It even converts the API. xml files to CSV.
I'm currently running it on a laptop with over 400 market exports and I've had beta testers with over 1000 current exports and claim no major problems.
As I mentioned to the previous poster, I program the old fashioned way. Dumb, simple and stupid. It's a method that still works.

Preach it, brother. There are so many abstractions and frameworks out now that many (most?) programmers have no idea what is fundamentally happening under the hood.

Err, you know the API exposes data as both XML and CSV, right?

I think it had something to do with not being able to get wallet info in csv perhaps or there was some information that was different? ATM, I can't remember what I was thinking when I did it that way. I just know it works now and I'm not gonna change it back. /me shrugs.

The generalization notwithstanding, I've gone ahead and ran it through a packet sniffer (Wireshark) and it doesn't seem to be trying to contact anything other then the API server in London. I'm going to keep it attached to the sniffer for a day or so, just to be sure. It doesn't look like it has a logger, though. No offense to the OP intended, but anything new gets the same treatment.

If you are willing to provide ports used and IPs, I can eliminate them from the testing. If you don't want them out in the open, just PM/Eve-Mail me when you get to that point.

Ok, I'm not a real life marketing genius by any stretch, and I am actually doing this trading thing in Eve to increase my knowledge of real time economics as well. So please pardon my ignorance on any subject pertaining to the question I have.
I just downloaded Eve Tycoon and started exporting data for relevant regions to begin trading. I am confused though when I am looking at the "market analyzer" tab in Tycoon. It gives me buy/sell volume numbers, etc. However, it doesn't give me any indication of how large of a time window these sales/purchases are occurring in. Does anyone know? Is it for the day....the hour...the week? I have no idea, and obviously that information is huge in decided which products to transfer and if certain regions even make viable trade routes in general.
Thanks.

Those dates and times are only from active buy orders. It's impossible to give a time span as CCP doesn't provide one. Once a buy or sell order is filled, it's no longer exported. Therefore, it's pretty much impossible to tell if the trader cancelled the order or filled it.

Dumb Simple and Stupid is a great way to program tools for eve. The fact of the matter is that new computers (for instance the one I just bought which is a quadcore 2.5 clocked to 3.2) are FAR AND AWAY powerful enough to run a few extra computations to yield the same result.
If it works, do it that way :) Full support, I'll be playing with this program when I get back from my break :)
